Mona Lisa’s crooked smile
on a half-crushed Campbell’s Soup can
Joe Dimaggio reciting his pronouns uneasily
then lowering his batting hand
into a scalding hot cup
of ‘Mr. Coffee’
Where have you gone, Mrs. Robinson?
Where else? to the bathroom
~ Hemorrhoids again
Barney Fife whittling Andy’s image to
sawdust with a rusty pocket-knife
-- contracting tetanus in the process
Andy Warhol grinning madly as the
word ‘culture’ is finally eliminated
from America’s lexicon
~ All hail to pink, plastic flamingoes! ~

Dedicated to Nette Onclaud, a great poet who alas stopped posting on Poetry Soup on 4 November 2020. A dear friend whom I truly miss.
She really did it, bought a kitschy,
a repulsive ornate vase,
Thank God, the cat broke it.

The lover he lures with his kitschy ways
Tawdry, vulgar, unfaithful…
Reflection of himself

Scars from the past I keep for the sake of
Awareness, affirming I'm
Stronger and wiser now

As I stared I tried to pay some homage,
to Kathy's kitschy cottage,
painted green and orange.

Clad in a garish green muu-muu, she danced
wildly to golden oldies.
Dumbfounded grandkids stared.

The nightmare rested in that kitschy urn
consuming his every breath
cold irony of death

Knowingly overdone
kind of low brow drama.
Kooky, loud and splashy
keen on melodrama.
Kinky and weird, it can
knit one's emotions in
knots, with its garish ways.
