Four Square
electrostatic dimming of sunlight
mellisonant quickening
lightning playing four square
study quadrants on screen
kingdom come of a rainstorm
that merely whispers an awakening
Wouldst thou lean ye summer blaze generous
thoust wilt naught as sea douse thee
cooly soaked ... or wake up
Wouldst in yawning amidst kerfuffle cord
freed in time broadcast air
curtain's [drawn--(saddened face]--rain)
Yea nay to sun, nay yea to rain but then
yea nay to work, still again
nay nay to fun ... that's life
too much rain for the rivers to contain
streams spill out and bridges fail
every valley will flood
every swollen creek runs
swiftly into yards and fields
and city streets ripping away conceit
rain drops falling on flame tree leaves create
a line of diamonds which
glow when sun rays hit them

fire brigade siren shrieks in the town
fire raging in my heart
pray, a shower of rain.

season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
citrus squeezed, lemon and lime ~
love’s carrot-top drizzle.
the umbrella man primed to coalesce,
his yellow crop of hair blends
with watercolor scent.
grinning in the rain, she wears cocktail dress ~
tummy band stretches nine months
as he pays for her drinks.
cockle shells and wedding bells nonetheless.
a beached whale rests on the sand ~
bouquet’s ready to pop.

my love for him is a rainbow arching
from my youth throughout decades
gleaming with my fondness
his angel face is the sun behind me
such brightness I can’t forget
while before me – rain falls
to feel again the colors of his soul
that beamed from his smile, I’d go
to the ends of the earth

In hardened bricks, their wall of denial,
lie the cracks in the façade
The water of truth drips
Leaking slowly for everyone to see,
Initiating anger
Thunderous clouds, with booms
Then from the black sky, falls the cleansing rain
Rivers of tears in valleys
Rainbows of forgiveness

Placed 1st in the Pick a Title Vol. 11, Kimo Poetry Contest.
Title picked: Cracks in the facade
Like smeared from tears mascara
Streaks of rain water stream down
Smudging pigeon feces on embossed chipped bricks
Once green, now bare and whitened
Naked brittle ivy cling on...
To and through; the cracks of the façade
To the eave...I've climbed those old chipped bricks
Atop the old school that once taught
Ahh, the teachers, the kids...the young me

A million tiny feet dropped from the sky,
tap-danced on our handheld roof;
then your lips danced on mine.
Sunflowers midst scorching heat sway with cheer
Beseech God for rainfall grace
Replenishment blessings*

the rush of rain and panic of the chimes - - -
torrent of brazen Winter
the gray skies never die

fresh rain sticks out its tongue, a depressor.
tortured trees give up, hands held
up like a prisoner.

this rain like nineteen sixties static screen —
snow on black or bugs on white.
daylight would lift onslaught.
