If you pay pension
To the military people
And don't pay to the real heroes
Who are doing real job
Working for you as OP
I really wonder
How is bureaucracy the apparatus
This of yours is really broke

In Memoriam: Owen the Pheasant
Lost at an auction in Vermont betwixt a first edition Anna Karenina and a bitter divorcée named Ruth.
There once was a pheasant named Owen,
whose plumage was splendid and showin’.
but a flatlander brute,
with a camo jumpsuit,
won him cheap—next to Tolstoy—unknowin’.

In colors he bloomed, with a big red nose,
He chose the job where laughter grows.
There he stood in rounded boots,
With a grin of mischief and playful hoots.
Dressed like a child, his costume loose,
A floppy hat, a bright jumpsuit.
Then came the rain--it cleared the crowd,
While the magician watched, silent and proud.
And through the downpour, something broke through
A glimpse of the man, not masked, but true.
His smile turned down, a burdened frown,
Grief wrapped tight in his circus gown.
He vanished with no tear, no trace,
Just silence held in a painted face.
He ends his shift, no cheers, no song,
As a joker he smiled, as a joker he belonged

we are now seen as disgraceful
deplorable, terrible, unacceptable
the leaders of the other countries are laughing
we are allowing a convicted felon
a person with no integrity
who makes fun of people’s medical and psychological conditions
to run for president of the USA
we are laughable
A man who caused an insurrection on national TV
who should have been hanged for treason
it is unacceptable, dreadful, unpardonable
but what else would they expect?
We have a sexual harasser and a rapist on the Supreme Court
The USA government has become a joke
but who is laughing?
Not the children mowed down by guns in grade schools
If I was from a foreign country
I would never come visit this upside down place
It is shameful what the thinkers have allowed the nonthinkers to do
and it gets more shameful
every single
second
that this
presidential candidate
is not wearing his orange jumpsuit
and that the electoral college
can allow a woman to get two million more votes than her opponent
and still not become president.
Who is laughing?
Not me.

the sun was fixed in the sky
like a fugitive in an orange jumpsuit
radiating anger.
the evergreen forest was shedding
to carpet the steeled winter
earth. pinecones and needles in
a mosaic of brown and green.
the swing set sat neglected
chains rusted, slack like
abandoned moorings.
it creaked under the stress
of your weight, unsure of itself.
its chains, yawning after years
of hibernation, start to sway,
back and forth, picking up
speed and confidence.
In a flash you’re off the
swing, gliding through thick,
wet air to land on your
hands and knees in the
mulch. The intractable wood
opens the soft flesh of your
palms. The strawberry red
blood glistens in the late
Sunday light.
A dog barks indifferently
at the sun as it sheds its
cumbersome bonds and
falls back into the earth.

I’m awoken every morning with the yapping of birds
Perhaps the only exhortation to swell and spread my buds
For sundry to see, to digest whatever meal I serve
For this day like any other, different dish I prime
Forget what you saw yesterday
Didn’t you see the day retreat into the silent night?
Didn’t you see the sun wane into a lobe so beautiful at dusk?
Me saw it pregnant, retreating to surface with greater good
Fresh as it calls, bringing with it tidings
So longed for, so much coveted glidings
So I majestically swim in its waves
With timid jumpsuit washed away, awash in its claves
Am puffed up at the tick of every hour
On thorny and snaking road I meander
Determinedly employing every slither to thither
For yesterday I was afraid of the mileage and I covet their power
The courage you see, the scars you count, the bruises that bleed timely
Say not sorry to me, because they fuel my grit and bleed not blood
But life that I so much desire!

Do you want me to play music?
This is a teacher who obviously does not write much.
I was giving them silent thinking time
for the thinking-writing activity I had assigned to them.
I am horrified, but it is her room.
I am the interloper, and she has already asked.
They have said ‘yes’.
Funeral dirge comes out of her computer.
I want to gloat; the kids look up, horrified.
I am here fifteen more minutes
in the bowels of hell with this woman.
Who is insistent on everything a particular way.
Perhaps that is why she has spent a year putting up no bulletin boards?
Only borders. I would rather be wearing an orange jumpsuit,
running from the cops.
But here I sit with my pasted smile
For twelve minutes.
Glad I am not one of these fourth graders stuck here all day.

Our car must wonder why the heck
It isn’t being used.
Cosmetics in my make-up drawer
Are equally confused.
My pocketbook forlornly sits,
Sure it’s been left behind.
My brand-new jumpsuit in the closet’s
Crowded and confined.
My MetroCard and cash are tucked
Inside my wallet’s folds,
Perplexed at never leaving,
Stuck inside their stuffy holds.
I must be going crazy
Thinking ‘bout these lifeless things
But when boredom is the way of life,
Some merriment it brings.

Pineapple kangaroo jumpsuit
I know where is he going with this
just bare with me
i uttered these words and kissed my wife
last week
Sick of the i love you's
My mission that i chose to accept
How to interpret the bland
Poems stealing words for life
Music twirls alone on the dance floor
So i have invented my own language
with only 3 words
no one else has heard it
only you
Then i showed her this page
and her face brought the clouds closer

Patty-cake, Patty-cake, baker's man.
Things didn't happen the way you planned.
Now the subject of investigations galore.
Soon, Mueller will be knocking at your door.
Patty-cake, Patty-cake, it does not look good.
You'd take it all back, if you thought you could.
Mr. "High I.Q." isn't very smart at all.
Rikers Island will be your new "Border Wall".
Patty-cake, Patty-cake, this is not "Fake News".
Justice is coming after all of your crew.
Your offshore accounts will soon come to light.
And, there'll be nothing left for your current wife.
What Nixon did cannot compare to you.
You'll sport a custom-tailored orange jumpsuit.
Jared, Ivanka, and Junior won't be far behind.
Then, America will be great, one more time.

Looking mighty cute
Dressed in a suit
He was on route
To pick up a loot
Ever so resolute
Arrived at the institute
He thought he heard them call him a cloot
Or maybe it was a galoot
He really wasn’t absolute
These days his hearing is acute
They said he had to wait over by the chute
They had something to compute
Just a problem to troubleshoot
So they had themselves a moot
He thought they meant we don’t give a hoot
Meanwhile after adjusting his boot
He sat and ate both halves of a grapefruit
Then while waiting he played his flute
With his good eye watching things convolute
He too has his moments to be astute
They looked intensely involute
The teller in her jumpsuit was a beaut
The manager a snoot and a brute
He could tell by their salute
They were in cahoot’
Hold’it! Hit the pause or press the mute
His patience growing ever so minute
He could tell there’d been a fraudulent substitute
Persecute Prosecute There’s going to be a lawsuit
Someone’s been tempted by the forbidden fruit

Dressed to steal
be these corporate suit crooks
Smiling for the cameras,
they do their heist in plain sight
Custom tailored appearance is the image portrayed,
rogue makeup
is the Photoshop picture being digitally overlaid
Tuxedo, black tie and a tweet
is the proper ballroom invitation to steal
Three piece, sat phone and a nine mil
mask the Congress cronies behind the getaway wheel
Voting combination to the tax safe
is a partisan party clique ... click ... clique
get-rich-quick dream legislation scheme away
Sherwood sheriff of the forest green
got three piece island cabana threads ...
Tropical thievery ...
hidden in an offshore coral banking bed
Florida jumpsuit orange
will distract any nuisance witnesses
Press send
to forward the money wire transfer ahead
Three piece thieves
doing the three card Monty
Public slow eyes
can’t follow the politricksters’ fast hands —
Sorry citizens,
you’ve just been robbing hoodwinked again

Bumbling along in my jumpsuit and clod hoppers
A sight to behold, a fashion statement for shoppers
Stylish and appealing
For the elderly beings
Reminds me of the days when I was a big bopper

WEATHERED FACES
Stone face tower
Scarred mapped neck
Mammoth shoulders of steel
Orange jumpsuit in check
Weathered face of storms
Leather brows define
Burning eyes intently staring
Pupils gorging mine
Distrustfully melts himself
Onto a metal chair
Iron door crashing closed
Vibrates my bones to beware
Now its just the tower and I
Boxed in a windowless cell
Married for an hour
As I try to soothe his hell
Knowing that he’s murdered
Many different times
Sends the hair on my neck
I fly with verbal chimes
No excuses he proclaims
I've done all they say
Puffing his chest out
I can't forget whom I turned grey
Congratulations I do say
You're doing insightfully well
You've integrated your behavior
And aligned it right with hell
