The Baggage of Painful Memories

Crushed coquina’s pains, salty air consoled.
Mistrusting soul, my heart could not appease.
We met when life was brimming and potholed.
My spoken words were long lost memories.

Relentlessly the past remained in view.
Romantic strolls along the shore soon died.
Again and again past pain stole love’s venue.
Good-naturedly, he listened; my soul cried.

A blemished past, his words could always soothe.
Tomorrows were awakened by his light.
He listened and life’s bumps seemed to grow smooth.
My rambling thoughts soon changed crimson to white.

We walked on crushed coquina’s endless strolls.
The salty air breathed love into our souls.

Bringing It To the Table

B ring America’s renewed greatness, please, “Deal Maker.”
R eality: opinions bring new understanding.
I magine opposed views seated around debate’s table.
N ot to rip one another, but to find solutions.
G raciousness listens and considers with open hearts.
I deas instinctively introduced can be tamed.
N othing ever benefits by close-mindedness.
G reatness comes to those who open their hearts and listen.

I ntuition imagines her truths instinctively.
T he tablet of reason writes our future; considers.

T ogether at that table, new hopes can be explored.
O ffensiveness and status quo must face one another.

T rump, is the “Deal Maker” for the “American Dream.”
H allowed halls of understanding believe in success.
E very dream has been placed in his hands with new hope.

T alking together with self-control seeks empathy.
A ltruism arises from all humanity.
B elieving and reason together must seek successes.
L est we watch anger and conflicts rip man asunder.
E verlasting peace is grown by love, Americans.

I Can Feel Mother Natures Pain

When the brightest moon begins to wane,
And the sun breathes life into every plain.
Mother Nature sees life sustain.

Springtime starts her flowering reign.
Blue Vervain and Daisy Fleabane –
Pristinely plants spread in the rain.

Even deadly plants like Henbane
Grow with purpose and not in vain.
Mother Nature’s wisdoms remain.

Whether harvesting fruit or grain,
With her help all life can sustain.
Mother Nature brings sun and rain.

Farmers, plant crops, like sugarcane,
They prepare to make syrup again.
Babies watch through the windowpane.

Seeds are planted in rich terrain.
Others grow well in a flood plain.
Crops are dusted from a bi-plane.

She hopes man won’t pollute again.
In the past it was all in vain.
I can feel Mother Nature’s pain.

Texas Daydream

All I ever do is daydream.
I dream of love for only you.
Then, bask in the warmth of your smile.

Together we go to Texas
In the wild, we join a cattle drive.
All I ever do is daydream.

Snuggled each night near the campfire,
I gaze into your soft blue eyes.
Then, bask in the warmth of your smile.

Embraced, we kiss in the moonlight.
I imagine passion raging.
All I ever do is daydream.

Awake at dawn, we saddle up.
I gallop desert plains with you
Then, bask in the warmth of your smile.

Sometimes I dream my dreams come true.
Too bad, it is only my thoughts.
All I ever do is daydream.
Then, bask in the warmth of your smile.

She Cries

the distant sunrise
beacons the abandoned widow
to think of heaven
as beside the window she cries.

Love Is In the Air Tonight

Love is in the air tonight,
I can see it everywhere.
Butterflies and dragonflies
Flirt while kissing in mid-air.

The fireflies fly flashing.
And illuminate the night.
Children seeing, squeal with glee,
And move closer to the sight.

Love is in the air tonight,
I can hear it in the trees.
Bullfrogs sing; their dreams take flight.
And love calls cling to the breeze.

The wise old owl blinks her eye.
And whistles, Hoot-hoot, hoot, hoot!
She already loves her guy.
Three owlets have just said “Hoot.”

Love is in the air, tonight.
Can you feel it in your heart?
Children gather near, each night.
Familial loves then start.

My soul feels your spirit near.
Connected, cherished within.
I see love in your eyes, my dear.
You are where loves’ breaths begin.

After Christmas Day

The
                                            day after
                                       Christmas, there
                                was only a tree. Presents
had been opened and put away.
Candy canes were devoured, one by one.
Yes, sugar plum fairies had left; no more fun.
Quiet children were happy and still liking their gifts.
Leftover turkey with veggies made an auspicious soup.
The fudge brownies had been eaten and so was the apple pie.
Meanwhile old folks still reminisced about many Christmases gone by.
After Christmas day, when all was said and done, it was still a happy time
                                             Eyes
                                           sparkled

Christmas Day

“The Gift of Relief”

When I was three, the babysitter helped me.
We opened every present under our tree.
Carefully each gift was perfectly re-wrapped.
Except for the one that tore; fate had zapped.
When my parents came home that Christmas Eve,
To be surprised I had to make-believe.
By tradition we opened one before,
I picked the gift where the paper tore.
My joy was gone; there was no surprise.
Childhood delight felt pain from living lies.

When I was twelve I could take it no more.
I told Mom what happened those years before.
Anger roared when she told Santa Claus.
He was not happy about my flaws.
That year each gift that came in the mail,
Disappeared from the tree; my hope grew stale.
On Christmas morning they were all returned.
I felt relieved for the lesson learned.
A bag of switches was Santa’s gift.
I knew that year Mom was really miffed.

Jesus

Just a tiny baby
joyful about bringing
justice. He and Father
jointly prepared the plan.
Jailed and crucified,
justification paid,
Jesus bought man’s pardon.
