Monocrostic (Birthday of Jett B. Marv)
Life is strong and fragile. It’s a paradox… it’s both things, like quantum physics: It’s a particle and a wave at the same time. It all exists all together. —Joan Jett
Connotations of Life
Night birds and daydreams in Edenic oak tree.
The salty tongue and lullabye of beachy blue sea.
Rumination of childhood ‘neath honeysuckle sun.
Red, raw, fulgent, overcome by the heft of the sun.
The fruitless and barren virtuosity of Adam’s tree.
Catacombs and sawlike teeth squatting in the sea.
The thrill of tides, embraced by the bosom of the sea.
Flickering flame or blinding heat tempered by the sun.
Sanity climbing the boughs or crepitant branches of tree.
O tree keep me above uncanny sea; soothe me with the sun.
I am looking forward to a margarita tonight said my friend Ms. Jett.
She gave me a cagey wink, and I smiled, not having a reply yet.
What kind of a day could it have been? What kind of an ominous start?
It was 9:20 a.m. and she had not had her class yet; they were in art.
I wondered about her enthusiasm, thought it was a bit odd.
“Invite me too!” whispered another teacher, named Miss Dodd.
I lied and said we had no more room at our friendship table.
Miss Dodd is almost always angry, and this is no fable.
Her name was Nora, she had not had a house since she was in her twenties.
Parents died, her money ran out, her emotional illness kept her in the streets.
She was not just content, she was happy. Her life was fine; she had friends.
She sang, danced, and played her days away. In the evenings she had a fire.
“Here’s our girl!” her friends said. They shared what they had, which was little.
It was more than enough. She did not worry about paying rent or utilities.
She felt sorry for those who worked eight hours a day to pay for empty houses.
She could not imagine a day without friendship, dancing, singing and play.
The Apocalypse is coming, someone said tonight as they stood by the fire.
They laughed.
Wondering why the suits wearing tennis shoes were wearing masks.
Are they all going to do surgery? Jett asked.
There was more laughter.
They did not know about the pandemic.
They were simply loving their lives.
Music Made Me
I made it belong to me and it still does
Decades later the tracks are the same
Am I identical to the teenager?
At first I refused to listen to songs
But sooner than later it happened
My own path and choice and way
There was The Beach Boys and Frankie
A very varied mix of quality music
But it was one song and band
It changed everything in 86
The Bangles Manic Monday
One listen and I was hooked
And got the record and was fine
For I had an identity and a band
They set the musical bench mark
Over the decades many followed
T'Pau and All About Eve and
Pat Benatar and Joan Jett in 88
Voice of the Beehive in 91
And so many more awesome groups
Real bands doing real songs
80s, goth, rock, metal, indie,
Alternative, punk and more
My life soundtrack saying this:
Feck the mindless idiots!

seen from the highway traversing
backroads in central south dakota
the framework of an old homestead
a carapace more than a structure
in the distance gnarled limbs held
rusted barbed wire in place as fence
scant distance from the homestead's
weathered shell still standing proud
a decades old Aermotor windmill.
it filled a galvanized tank guarding
life giving water for far grazing cattle
golden crisp prairie grasses spread
far as an eye could survey
weathered bond of the homestead's
walls stood--relics of another age
hardened and annealed from
daily immersion in plains weather
noble despite capitulating to time.
in the minds eye he sees the windmill
at Little Reata from the movie "Giant"
as light faded welcoming the dusk he could see
the youthful Jett Rink climbing its ladder
rising to gain the platform-then squatting
to survey his empty land
the silhouette of Jett's sharp-cut features
visualized more than open grassland
Jett envisioned an empire. the visitor kept
mementos of a unique bygone era.

I love Rock 'n' Roll
The title of my favourite song
Sung by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
I could listen all day long
Billboards' Hot 100 had it at number one
In first place for seven weeks straight
Songs of all time it reached 56
Everything to love and nothing to hate
Known as the queen of rock 'n' roll
With the Blackhearts as her band
Crimson and Clover with a Cherry Bomb
Bad Reputation we could all understand
I hate myself for loving you
Young girls would sing along
Joan Jett and The Blackhearts I salute you
Your Rock 'n' Roll is still going strong.
Not only is Juliette Lewis an attractive actress, she's also one of the greatest female
rock stars since Mia Zapata. When she's on the stage with her band, all rock/indie rock
fans are really amazed. Juliette's not bad for a female punk-rock artist. She was various
films like "The Basketball Diaries" with Leo DiCaprio, "Strange Days" starring Angela
Basset, and "The Other Sister" with Diane Keaton. If Ms. Lewis isn't acting, she's out
writing songs with her band mates, the Licks and formally the Infidels. Juliette Lewis
is best known for her songs like, "Shelter Your Needs, "Seventh Sign," Get Up," and
"Inside The Cage." She's been like a rebellious rock star since Joan Jett and the
Blackhearts. If Juliette Lewis were to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in
the near futire, that would be great for her.
Leather was absolutely everywhere
The smell of liquor lingered throughout
Long hair, spiked hair, blue hair, green hair
The music was what it was about
We, as teens, came forth in droves
To get polluted and to listen real good
Totally awesome, standing right by the amp
Listening, as one really should
This club in Staten Island was my stomping ground
Snuck in with a bottle of JD in my jacket
Musicians came and played all their songs,
Though my parents thought it was all a racket.
The music was great, each group I heard
Like Generation X, Catholic Girls and Joan Jett
Here I saw the Ramones like five times, too
A better time, no one could ever get.
Keturah;
Green eyes like the pastel leaves of spring
Jett black hair like that night in Tunisia
Keturah;
Brown cinnamon skin leaves a sweet taste in your mouth
Smooth African face, as round as the blue moon
Keturah;
A smile that descends from the heaven within
Your beauty is the light from the stars, at night
Keturah;
We fly across the moon
Walk beyond the star
Enjoy this afternoon
Keturah;
What do we have
What do we know
This all begins right
Here for you, keturah
