burned, blackened leaves
leaving their bony outlines
on grey cemented sidewalks
autumn's sun
binding leaf shadows
seared into the comfort of cement
scars of lost life
leaves long decayed
beyond the reach of what they no longer are
legacies left behind
surrendered to the rustle of footsteps
that step onto an active stillness
sometimes we don't see the imprints because of too much on mind
sometimes we have to fight for all the etchings we have left
as winter slides us
elsewhere

Our Sun imprints heavy July
Upon a crimson sunset.
The first star I see in the west
Brings with it a cobalt sigh ...

Waves wash away imprints left on sand
That we leave behind walking hand in hand
Admiring our first sunset
In your embrace our heartbeats met.
And my broken self went on a mend.
As I pull my damp tresses through the hair band
You tuck away my stubborn hair strand
With my fingers, I trace our names’ vignette
Waves wash away imprints left on sand.
You have now left for another land.
Life without you seems so bland.
Why those moments I can’t forget?
Captured in a solitaire’s net
In a vast seashore, all alone I stand
Waves wash away imprints left on sand

My memory has been getting worse.
As seconds turn to years,
As mole hills turn to mountains,
As truths turn to theories.
I had memorized her shadow, the turn of her face,
I had memorized her golden curls bristled with wind,
All now stilled by dirt and borrowed words.
Only pictures remain, cursed in unbridled stillness.
A second loss to Father Time.
The first in blood, the second in cerebellum.
She fades from me like a tattoo in the sun,
While a stone remains, mocking forever.
How fitting her name should be printed into the Earth,
Curves of stone remembering long after I forget.
The wind no doubt less a cruel force than that of time.

In times of old, Cinderella had a fairy God mother, that gave her the tools, a horse and carriage, to meet a true love, an unexpected face to face with a prince that was captivated by her. In modern times, it could be a Southwest jet? Flown by a pilot, not a carriage driven by a coachmen like in times of old. The moral of this tale, there is a time limit on the duration of deep and true love, and it's trappings, but the memory and imprints it leaves in the hearts of the innocents it touches, mysteriously remain. The prince of old, searched far and wide for the one that left such an imprint in his heart, longing to overcome all obstacles to join her, and make their heart become one, the unique imprint in each, when over layed, became mirror images of the other, a perfect match in an unexpected place. So it is, with any prince in any era, seeking a match for an imprint left in his heart, trying to overcome the obstacles, to open a path to her heart, hoping they can find one another. Feel again, the deep and true love, a gift only given once, needing a little sprinkling of magic, to decorate the ribbon, and make the package whole.

I want to leave
Imprints on
People hearts.
I want to know I was
There for people.
When they needed me.
I want to know.
I changed some one's life
That I loved.
That I loved some one
Who needed to be loved.
I made people smile
Who needed to smile.
That I changed some one's
Life in so many ways.
That I was there for
Some one who
Needed a friend.
That I made a
Impact on some one's life.

I stepped in the snow
Not thinking of the imprint I would leave
Just as any action can do
Or who may come along to see my footprint
Every move made, leads to something else
Whether it be impact to ourselves
Or to another person
I step forward when storms take over life
Wind may numb the skin
Just from knowledge, not ready to accept
But, there’s always a path to choose
With decisions to make
As to what kind of imprints are left behind

Float with me, my love, amid coral pink nebulae on the astral stagecraft
Surfing wavelengths ultraviolet, in close encounter of two dreamy hearts;
Oh, how charming it is, to woo romance in opal aura of stardust galaxies!
Glistening your happy smile, in sculptor’s blueprints upon blushed motifs
Like the ephemeral musings of burning meteoroids on ruby rose tapestry
Lost in the constellation’s scarlet orange tinges on kaleidoscopic imprints.

I wish the best for you and all...
Let peace reside in each who walks this earth
with tenderness, forgiveness, a new start -
awakened, love to spare and real self-worth.
Though my own breath has blown each grain of sand;
each footprint left by me I cannot see.
Alas, He picks me up in His strong arms -
with tender hug and kiss, I have new feet!
They are a toddler's, pudgy and unsteady,
yet I can see the path they leave behind;
reassured that He is always ready
to breathe new Life - We may begin again!
I do not think that each has had a thought
of leaving imprints for this world to see,
but I believe there comes a point in time
when He says, "Walk, it's time for you to be!"

the past words,
too hardly pressed
show themselves
as I flip pages
they write
their imprinted saga
by the pencil
that never really
touched them
they were passed over
but they still
remember
everything
