hushed
I danced …
with an echo -
it knew your name
the notes spun about me like embers that
waltz in the breaths of flame
and die in darkness …
its final iteration whispered me of
your passion’s secret -
wrapped its lilting fingers ‘round my hope
and strangled it like a lover …
one last, loud kiss
pressed to my ears in delicate sin
then drowned

Her Muted Breath
it comes alive, stirring the soul
waking the spirit to a world
painted by snowfall’s gentle brush
like a white canvas, the first steps
across the blanketed path
leave imprints of hope, imprints
revealing what it means to see
silence at war with nature’s breath
it laughs at the hurried steps
of a heart rushing past
autumn’s light as she breathes
her caress, against the sun
who

The Leaves Are Hushed
The Leaves are Hushed
Alone
she stares through a skylight
playing I spy with the sky,
creating fantastical creatures
out of skimming, brimming clouds.
Suddenly
a shadow swiftly smears a window
staining its filmy, hazed glass;
a corrugated feeling, firm and undulating
settles steel-hard in her stomach.
Hurriedly
her hand reaches for her heart
but it isn’t there…….,
it’s replaced by a beating drum
which beats and repeats

We Must Talk In Hushed Voices
I'd borrowed Pa’s umbrella
to shelter from the rain,
alas one spoke is now broken
I’m scared that Pa’s will go insane!
My best friend Jacques was with me
when there was a sudden squall,
I tried to hold onto the umbrella
but it crashed hard against a wall.
So Jacques is walking by my side
and he will take me to my door,
he’ll

With Hushed Thoughts
In solitude, I find calming breath between spaces
Emptiness filled without the sound it replaces
The silence against time in a rush to conclude
I find calming breath between spaces, in solitude
With these hushed thoughts I give voice to creation
See ink form words full of haunting flirtation
Or quietly smooth out the lived-in rough knots
I give voice

Hushed Gore
Hushed Gore
The forest deep carries the biggest gunners
Those who do the most damage
That you remember the most and worst
The school bully who nobody could master
The boxer that no opponent beat
The soldier who loved to fight
The woman who stepped on men
These people carry the biggest guns
And walk thru the darkest glade
Enormous trees surround them
Here there is
