Up To Speed

In a race on the savannah
fleet of foot is the cheetah
at up to 75 mph
no animal can beat her
and with a top speed of 50 mph
lion is the second fastest cat
tho' at
38 mph a leopard can't change its spots
the lion can do that
cubs are born with them and later lose
to become lion spots have-nots
an ostrich

Evolution

Once we were hunter-gatherers
tribes grouped outdoors
before the days of yore
now we're hunt and peckers
each cooped indoors
on personal computer keyboards
and way back when
we'd communicate
banging on the drums
yes since then
we've progressed
today we're all
fingers and thumbs

the Mighty Hunter

An owl does not need to see its prey
He can hear a mouse six miles away
He dives through the night air with talons down
Nocturnal eater, the best hunter in town

The hunter that raised a monster

Deep in the forest where various monster beast abode
The hunter dares himself to enter the dangerous zone
To hunt for games that is rich for gains

Under the big Iroko tree lies the little animal 
Having a soft and fluffy coat designed with bright colors
A bright orange and white color patterned with black stripes

A cat is in  the yard
While walking smells the ground
He is searching for a  mouse

His head is bent to the ground

Bambi’s Revenge

The hunter laughed, his rifle bright,
his boots like thunder in the night--
but deep within the twisted trees,
something stirred among the leaves.

Not a whisper, not a sound,
just breath like smoke along the ground.
A shadow moved--too fast, too wrong,
its eyes like embers burning strong.

"You took her life, now you will see--"
"the price of blood belongs to me."

Not a Hunter

Every morning, the train that took him to work
through a landscape harassed by Man
he saw a deer watching the train as it did
every morning 
The deer's eyes reflected the morning sky
making the landscape eerily beautiful
He marked the spot, and on a Sunday, when
the train was not running, driving to the spot

    Raft branch buoyed in canopy crossroad 
    Ocelot pillow paws rail rainforest rotunda 
    Yataghan claws trail trunk, track cathode
    Assailant arouse pounces, stiff tail rudder
    Lithe, while night looms, lightspeed silent


    Ogling exotic shores -

To Heartache

You made those quiet tears fall from my eyes,

No one around me, sadness intervened,

As the burgundy sun clung to the eaves

Like ice.Through my heartache, I watched a burnt 

Horizon paste darkness against the stars.

A Frenchman's Hunt

In France, where a creek gently flows,
A hunter ventures to a place he knows.
With his wife ahead, beating the brush,
She making the hidden pheasant flush.

With muzzle raised, he's poised for flight,
As she flushes a pheasant into the sky.
He fires his twelve-gauge into the sky,
Knocking the bird before it soars too high.

Back at home, a fire

Artic Hunter

Slow sleek steps,

Pounces on its paws,

Snow-clad fur,

Brushes off impatiently,

 
Ears perk up,

When squeals and squeaks are heard,

Steady and slowly,

Merges with the blanket beneath,

 
Almost at ease,

Confidently it please,

Lowers into its position,

Ready to strike,

 
Pounces on its paws,

Announces in its jaws,

Mouse struck beneath its claws,

Ounces in vigilant strides as it withdraws.
