The Hunter

A cat is in  the yard
While walking smells the ground
He is searching for a  mouse

The cat is hungry 
His head is bent to the ground
He is trying to catch a m pouse

As you know, I have had 11 cats since 1970It just so happened I lved in the cityin the city and there were no mice in my house. I do know that a mouse is the.a number one protein for cats to eat. That nonsense in a bag is very bad for them and their kidneys and could kill them especially the Males. I don’t know anyone here who had a cat for any long time except you.. and I. Pangie. Cats do not exist to fulfill our Expectations.Pangie

Magnificent creatures, hunters by nature. I get a kick out of watching birds dive-bomb the local feral when he goes on daily patrol. Great expression! Thank you, Darlene.

I have had many cats and none ever cared about hunting mice. I saw one time my cat ignored a mouse. But I hear stories of people using cats to catch mice. I guess you have seen that kind!

This is so beautifully simple. You capture the cat’s hunger and focus so well--it’s almost as if we, too, feel that need to seek, to survive. The repetition gives it such a rhythmic pulse, like the cat’s pursuit, never quite reaching, but always searching. I loved how you brought the primal instincts to life in just a few lines. And I’m so sorry for your loss of your cat. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.
