Premium Member Thinking About Homographs

Homographs are delightful.
Spelled exactly alike
But totally different meanings

Words like Boil
Dolly cart or dolly doll?
Blue – a feeling or a color?

Crest.
A toothpaste? a hill or a rooster’s feathers?
Albatross – bird or burden?

Amazon.
Ancient Greek myth about superior female race
Parrot
Or the obvious?

Politician
Self-serving millionaire in the making?
Liar? Thief?
Or mislead idealist?

The truthful liar mesmerized no one
Even his most fervent followers fell short.
We watched his interchanges which seemed crazy,
And his bragging and grandiose plans abort.
His love seemed wrapped up in his loving buck,

Stealthy snake-like purport with enemies he would consort.
Boom! He was on the TV. Crash! He threw out a tweet.
Snorting, chortling, boredom ripe for a big red port.
We watched him boast and brag, some disgusted be.
Formative finance foreman finds a forever fort.

Political dissonance turning our country upside down.
Misogynist buffoon yelling fake news as a new sport.
Thy vileness and thy nastiness befouls thyself,
Thy fantasticalselfishness flamboyantly galantort,
Reinforces our mindfulness that being President is just a sport.

Now and again
a word
sneakily obscure
approaches the fog in me
screams its name suddenly

Apropos adverbs appear
clearly
startling
perplexing
precarious adjectives
slick little nouns
caught hiding
beyond babbling brooks
sent to exile
defiling crooks
"pro"fessional nouns
jailed beneath eight parts of speech.

Preposition-ed
pre-fixed subjects
elusive predicates
slithering suffix-ation
turn-ing key
delicately
through holes
freeing vocabulary
trapped
within prison cells
synonyms
pen bars
filled in
the past participles.

Plagued
like Job's tedious job of
siphoning
deciphering
homographs from heteronyms.

Words never mind!
they wind the mind gliding in the wind...

Homographs In Poetry

words are homographs if they are spelled the same way but differ in meaning

I READ between the lines and all that I have READ is confusing!
You tell me you feel so CLOSE, yet when I CLOSE my eyes, you're gone!

You are the ENTRANCE to my heart and you ENTRANCE me,
like the WIND and I WIND up once more, your puppet.

I wish I could RECORD your love on a RECORD for all to hear,
It would be a magical CONCERT, instead I must CONCERT energy.

If not, I would PRESENT you with the greatest PRESENT
One of Cupid who shot his BOW causing you to alas, BOW to me.
