Hold Open Poems

Shiver Shake Not : Song

pretty or slippery are not my names
no time for docile dolly games
peaceful presence my authenticity aims
ascension not something timidly tame

Chorus : shiver shake not, I have nothing to hide
flowing with life’s lovely tide

if you cannot bear scars and shadows
go elsewhere to see what flavour marrows
sure I hold open portal doors
when lightning strikes you can endure

Chorus : shiver shake not, I have nothing to hide
flowing with life’s lovely tide

radiate stories of sorrow and glory
twinning beneath Sun’s shimmering corey
hearty love tender truth upward spiral
mystical might muse antiviral

Chorus : shiver shake not, I have nothing to hide
flowing with life’s lovely tide

walk promised path alongside mine
consciously curious from divine timelines
earth wind fire water akasha guide
shiver shake not, I have nothing to hide

Chorus : shiver shake not, I have nothing to hide
flowing with life’s lovely tide

Premium MemberOld Fashioned

No door I won't hold open
Old fashioned's my campaign
I'll give you my umbrella
And walk out in the rain
I'll stand until you're seated
I'll offer you my chair
I'll listen to you when you speak
Because I really care
Would a serenade make you happy?
If so, that's what I'll do
I'll treat you like a lady
Only the best for you

Muse

Songs watered
Given chance to grow
Flourished beyond years
Lingering feeling
It's never over
Floral aroma
Oklahoma
Rooted possibility
Unraveling divinity
Time to synthesize
Oh gentle muse
Release your muffled hum
Sing forbidden hymns
To light the garden
Lyrics hold open wounds
Bleeding butterflies
Leading path
Sing a new sunrise
Monarchs melody
Enriches the soil
Tangled roots gift
Cherished harmony
Delicate petals detach
Rhythmic sways send soul signals
Rehearsed heartbeat cultivates cresendo
Nourishing bountiful harvest
A progression so infectious
Pollinators whistle through walkways
Our meadow,
Deemed choir
Echoes our bloom

Premium MemberThrow Kindness Around Like Confetti

“Throw Kindness around like confetti” (motto attributed to Kate Spade)

Throw kindness around like confetti.
Find chances wherever you go.
There's no act of kindness that’s petty
when light of your love you let show.

Confetti at parties and weddings
is celebratory and fun.
Let’s celebrate life in all settings -
from morning until the day’s done.

While driving to work on the freeway -
let cars in your lane! At the store,
be patient as well. Make somebody’s day.
Be cheerful and smile; hold open a door!

It isn’t so hard to simply be nice,
so wherever you happen to be,
try it once, try it twice, then try it thrice.
Happier faces you’ll start to see.

So take my advice and throw kindness around,
for the more acts of kindness you show,
the more will the ripples of sweet love be found
affecting the world with confetti-like glow.

A Poet's Ambition

The poet's task is simple, noble and bold
For the poem need only hold open a door
long enough to allow the reader to escape

Premium MemberYou Are My Sonshine

Inspired by Carrie Richard’s poem “Unlatched”

YOU ARE MY SONSHINE

Our song together,
just you and me

“You are my sunshine…”

Our song belongs,
only to us

And how I used to love
to pull you on my lap,
even catching
the last few times,
before you left
for college…

A son belongs
to his mom
for so short a time

Yet how wonderful
to see your success
in your job
with your wife
and kids

You are still my sunshine,
my only sunshine

a title belonging
to an only son
who used to call his mom
his princess
and heave his empty wallet
out of his pocket

“Get whatever you want, Mom”

Memories so strong
that hold open doors
for the one woman in his life
a lifetime ago
with a handsome bow
tied on a moonlight cradle

Now I cradle the phone to my ear
with bended heart
listening

to the grownup man...
Oh how proud I am.

Bust a Nut In a Rut

society is tripping
they got new sport suits for the latest trend
my mind is scrambling like ham in eggs
Bust a nut in a rut some time before
many are tripping out with a two bit whore
people are people so why should it be
you & I live together so awfully
I want to scream but I got hoop dreams

Comb over Trump is president but he hasn't made a dent
we got some screws loose in our brains
not having the television clicker in hand is driving me insane
it used to mean something to hold open a door
but that was so 1974 it don't exist anymore
we still got flower power but it takes place in the shower
we honor the dead with mixed messages in our head
these are desolate times
yet we settle for ill but faded rhymes
the casualties are enormous
for a stated cause that's atrocious
so I build this sanctuary in my mind & no I'm not blind
you really suck the nation is going to hell but
I still got a great story to tell
a winner is still another loser that falls but gets up & gives it one last try..
What is my last reply ?
we all need to grow & shut the hell up !

I Just Want More

Why did he take my friend away
I really thought that she would stay
I couldn't imagine a life without
Her words of wisdom, always about
She'd never miss when I needed her most
A call, a text a little note .
I feel like I took for granted her love
Never around for her as much, as she was
I know it didn't matter to her
She knew my heart she was true blue
I miss her now so much I cry
The tears they fall each from an eye
I know she's touched others the same
Kim Lori's an angel now, that is her name
I reach for the tablet to send her a note
But I'm reminded she's left far and remote
I wish time restarted and we were healthy again
Able to travel with much time to spend
For always and forever I'll never find
Someone as loving and loyal and kind
I miss you Kim Lori, Bug , my dear friend
Hold open the door, candle burning till the end .

Premium MemberNot Fragile

I measure time now in heartbeats
When I hold open a door, I treasure the smile
Humanity, me or all of you, I do not know
I know I am walking the last mile

So now knife in hand
I cut a hole in my heart
Crimson blood flows like ink
To empty pages below

Yes I write with blood
Of tales long gone
Dreams yet to be
Of travels longed overseas

This crazy heart
Drained of life and bodily fluids
Black and deadened
Ugly as the sins once committed

Once I was crazy on you
When sunny days seemed round the bend
Now my thoughts linger, caressed along a sleek pen
A poets thoughts, drowned in his own blood

The Beauty In Life

dont give up until you try
you wont live until you die
you cant learn to tell the truth
until you've learned to lie

you are'nt breathing until you choke
its only right to laugh, when your the joke
what if funerals made you feel alive

hold open your eyes
just open your eyes
to wittness that your life is beautiful
an nobody will cry at your funeral

want to know something that you dont
i've done more things that you wont
always leaving a trail of blood
to find your path back home

i've been waiting for the verse
what came next was way much worse
belive, that it did take a funeral to feel alive

hold open your eyes
just open your eyes
to admitt your lifes beautiful
and you'll swear on your life
nobody will cry at my funeral

hold open your eyes
just open your eyes
an see that life is beautiful
so will you swear that nobody will cry at my funeral.....

Fairy Light

The wind caresses my intricate wings,
Kissing the soft layers of clear feathers.
The air slowly runs through my flamboyant hair,
Blowing away the stray strands in my face.
The clouds cover my body,
whisked to reveal a glowing white dress, trailing toward the ground.
I sit at the horizon waiting for my call,
The simple smooth rock swaying on the edge.
I look beyond the hues of fluffy white,
Seeing a sleeping city full of sweet darkness.
I hold open my hand,
Carefully getting ready for the firing.
I aim the small golden sphere closing my light blue eyes,
Finally letting go of the sun.
My heart soars, gliding alongside the brightest star of the day,
Having crowned completion to my duties at last.
My hope, my faith, my dreams, my love,
Circling the light of the world.

People

People are so rude today, they would sooner stand in the middle of the store aisles on their
cell phones than move out of your way. They think that an excuse me is imposing on their
time, to be a little nicer wouldn't be such a crime. So hurried and rushed people are today no
kind words are spoken anymore, its not it like was when i was young when people would
actually hold open the door.

Love/Being Happy

ill love you forever
but you dont have the time
i wish you would see
but it doesnt matter to me
ill hold open my arms for all of time
either for you
or for all the earth
ill take care of my life
with passionate peace
ill smile when ussually id cry
write
scream
hate
die
but now, i cant help but smile
at the things lifes given to me
to the things ive seen
the things ill do
lifes so good.
even at the worst parts,
everything can be curred with a mother freaking smile(:

Hold Me Too Tight

I could sleep here if my heart would slow,
Breathing you in, savouring this embrace,
Can't help smiling wrapped in you,
I'm drawn to your eyes as I stare at your face,

You ask me what I'm looking at,
Wide mischievous eyes beam right back into mine,
Kisses erase the need for explanation,
Light fades outside as we intertwine,

This room defines you, love when
I see private toilet rolls piled up by the door,
In the kitchen, solely bread to eat
But video games in stacks on the floor,

Then you, headphones dangling from
Inside whichever casual shirt,
Either ripped or skinny jeans and
Converse improved by time and dirt,

Walk me to your flat and back,
You hold open doors and take my hand,
You don't say it, but neither do I,
Assume that we both understand,

Confused, elated, beautiful,
Feelings are overloading me,
So hold me too tight and kiss me goodbye,
And maybe you'll smother my inadequacy.

I'Ll Be Your Dream

I’ll hold open your door,
Gladly pull out your chair.
On a bus, I will stand
So, you can sit there.
I will let you walk first.
I’ll throw my jacket down
When you need to walk through
The puddles on the ground.
I’ll come to your aid
If you should ever scream.
Your knight in shining armor,
I’ll be your dream.
Some say it is chivalry,
But I know what is true.
Why I do all these things
Is to love and respect you.
