Santa Jack's under the weather so I'm hear to say
Let's all write a limerick or two today
It should be funny
Or a little bit punny
So pull out your pencils and start writing away
My feathered friend Bubba is quite a guy...
And in the morning when I leave for work he always tells me by.
While I am at work he and Belle hold down the fort...
And if there is anything strange happening they file a report.
Bubba takes a bath in the kitchen sink on Thursday night...
And watching him ear popcorn is an awesome sight.
When the phone rings he says hello...
And when we have company he doesn't like for them to go.
Bubba and Belle are quite the pair...
And Bubba likes to play in my wife's hair.
These two little feathered buddies are as sweet as can be...
And they provide lots of fun for my wife and me.

I Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen am a grandma.
Going crazy with worry about my grandbaby.
He keeps getting a rash so, to the doctor we dash.
Many times—
One day he looks better, maybe.
The next it is worse add fever to the curse.
What to do? What to do?
It’s 12:30 a.m. and I’m about to leave.
Going to the ER hoping for some relief.
His fever has stayed down for a day or so.
Now, it is way, way too low. I’m frantic.
All the while he either cries or smiles.
Confused…yes, that’s me.
A grandma confused by the weird rash,
Shall now off to the hospital dash.
Worried almost sick, myself,
Two older grandsons will be left behind.
Hubby will hold down the fort so to say.
School is tomorrow… Oops there’s more.
A doctor appointment tomorrow,
For his brother -
we’ll be going to a nearby town.
Time to say bye. Time to go.
He’s smiling, but I’m worried –
…Like grandmas do.
Who am I really?
Besides poet, artist, and gardener,
You'll find one spirited woman who
Jumps into family drama to help.
That’s me, Memaw Dane.

Mother, Mother how I wonder how you made it this far.
Going through trials and tribulations and having a wreck in a car.
You are such a diamond in my eyes and even when you cry.
I want to tell you it will be alright.
But I know God is holding you tight.
I know your heart is so big and you have love for everyone.
Giving you your flowers right now for what you have done.
So don't think no one cares.
I don't get even when you mess up your hair!
Everyone that comes around appreciates a word from you.
Some hearts are broken, but a word helped them through.
You hand out poems, bibles and all kinds of sorts.
Just to show them God will hold down the fort.
So Mother, Mother I love you so dear.
Mother, Mother can you hear me so clear?
Mother, Mother you are God's child.
Mother, Mother I thank you for being there when I ran wild.
So Mother, Mother I wondered how you made it this far you know!
Praying and shouting was the only way to go.
So may God bless you everyday!
These are just a few words I had to say.
