When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”
But Jesus turned and rebuked them.
Luke 9:54-55
How easily man judges,
hates, throws down the gauntlet.
Oh can’t you see - God is the merciful one.
We hang ‘em high and hang ‘em low
(Better than them, am I)
We love to be one of the mob,
pointing, mocking, laughing.
Are we teachable?
The lord stopped James and John in their tracks.
(Oh I wish he’d be condemned,
send fire down on his head.)
Oh sure…we are the truth tellers,
we imagine ourselves to be god.
We want, him or her, destroyed?
But ahem…God could destroy anyone,
anytime. His purposes are greater than ours.
I’m grateful for that. You should be too.
Oh can’t you see - God is the merciful one.
I don’t want to see what’s in your nose.
Bring it level. If God judged you today
without His help, guess where you’d be?
He says wild things like:
Love your enemies!
The good news trumps your newspaper
and news on t.v.
If your nose tilts, let your eyes see God’s
peace, mercy and grace
…a revolution of love
10/28/2022
Once so judgmental
Explosive
So worried about
Your politics
Your sexuality
You wear a red hat
Do you agree with me?
No?
Then I hate you
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
Hang 'em high
On the town square
Time passes
Hearts soften
It was all smoke and mirrors
The driving force of hate
Is a constant struggle
And destroys everything in its path
Why can't we see
Love is easy
It heals
And is for everyone
If we accept it
For in the end
There is only love
Movie star
Clint Eastwood fits the bill,
Even in the Unforgiven,
Dirty Harry’s words instil,
Shut down or you’ll be bleeding.
Hang em high, just get the rope,
Upon the hanging tree,
Puff the cigar, and hawk a bit,
Watch out, old dog you’ll see.
Pale horse rider,
Shooting quick,
Begone, or you be dead,
Colt 45 has arrived,
The bullets slick,
Methinks should stay in bed.
Revolution! Revolution!
Is the cry of the war
Civil conflict to combat
Fight for freedom once more,
Taking bullets for the north
We will overtake the south,
Gettysburg reaches hearts
by way of word of mouth,
Keep fighting, keep talking,
Lincoln makes a declaration,
Freedom is a document
Emancipation Proclamation,
Yell Glory Hallelujah
History is being made,
Yet illogical inequality
Is the heat within the shade,
Segregation is the word
Whitey yells it from the mountain,
No colored folks eat our food
Or drink from our water fountains,
Different schools, different places,
Different things for different races,
Last difference is
Humiliation on our faces
They whistle at a white woman
Beat them until its hard to stand,
Either the cops will get them first
Or we enforce the wrath of Klan,
Hang em high up in the trees
Cut the privates off the man,
Example after example,
That will make them understand,
Take us home, We want to roam,
Free within the mother land,
Marcus Garvey is the speaker
Back to Africa is the plan,
We want to go, We want to stay,
A mix of love and disagree,
What other way, what other way,
To fight this inequality?
Nuthin’, But Trouble and Texas-Tuff
But for You – Stuff’s About To Get Rough
By Now, You Should Have Had Enough
Now, Make Your Choice, Hang ‘Em High, or Cuffs ? …
… Come Out With Your Hands Us ! …
Outlaw !
Are You That Hot-Bloodied, Heart Killer ? …
Outlaw !
Well, You Look A Lot Like Him, Mister …
Outlaw !
… by the way, that You Kissed Her …
You’re An Outlaw !
Beneath Stars or by Light Of The Moon
I’m Riding Fast … Will Catch Up Soon
Midnight … Will Be Our Stroke Of High Noon
I Stand-Steady … I Will Not Swoon …
… This Is Your Once In A Blue Moon ! …
Chorus:
… and Outlaw ! … I’m Calling You Out !
Outlaw ! … Come Out, Of Your Hide-Out !
Outlaw ! … There Is No Doubt …
… You’re My Outlaw …
Outlaw ! … I’m Bringing You In !
… You’ll Never Ride The Range Again
Outlaw ! … ‘Cause Only Then …
… You’ll Be My Outlaw … Outlaw !
(DEDICATED TO PAT HINGLE WHO DIED JANUARY 3, 2009.)
He was very talented and he had many fans.
He starred as Commissioner Gordon in Batman.
When he guest starred on the Andy Griffith Show, everybody laughed.
He nearly died in 1960 when he fell down an elevator shaft.
He starred in Hang 'Em High and in Sudden Impact.
It was a sad day when he died and that's a fact.
When you get down to it, he was a great guy.
Now many people are sad because they have to say goodbye.
Stamped against the lightening sky, defiant gallows
Beckon, and I, hooked toward the glamour of death
Where consumptive dawn draws bloody breath,
Heaving her scarlet bones aloft serrated peaks
That bite into a day of judgement rising bleak.
Of this crime to which I fell, the gibbet end
Understood, and quell down the throat with fraying fist
That, words strangled, Satanically hissed;
Feet kicking a jig through a void in the air,
Scuffed flailing boots flying nowhere.
How in Hell can it be that I was so wrong?
Clueless and mindless, my own constitution
Springing the trap at my own execution,
Arranged and played out by my own tarot touch;
When you love something, how can you love too much?
