Terra Incognita

Putting out fires not of my making
it's time-consuming heart-breaking
the grass over there don't seem any greener
and from my perspective the streets are meaner
the so-called social networks are as unsociable as can be
impersonal with dirty laundry on show for everyone to see
despite self-admitted wrong-doing and misdeeds
the herd still follows their every lead
but I won't borrow sorrow
and be overwhelmed by the troubles of others
doing my best making the most
if it's not one thing it's another
and then sometimes it's both
feels like the world has gone to hell
with nary a handbasket to carry us there
and I'm at the bottom of a deep dank well
is the world spiralling out of control
while I'm abandoned here in a drear dark hole

Calm Waters, Safe Harbour

I've been to a few strange places in my day
some hotter than the hottest spot on the sun
some colder than the coldest crater on the moon
and all the while I was looking for someone
looking here looking there I was searching everywhere
now I found you you are the one my searching days are done
for my heart made up its mind to love you
when we were oceans apart and worlds away
took a boat across the water and yet
I don't regret a single day
no more cloudy skies had more than my fair share
love will prevail now I've found a haven in a heart that cares
as you'll be my shelter from a storm warning
(calm waters, safe harbour)
you'll see me through to a new day's dawning
I'll pass on the weatherman I forecast my sun shining
don't need my fortune read I foresee a silver lining
yes I've done some crazy things in my lifetime
been to hell and all the way to the back of beyond
with not even a handbasket to carry me there
and all the time I was searching for someone

Jersey Belle, My Jersey Girl

'twas at the country fair I spied her
outstanding in her field
(in many more ways than one)
beyond compare second to none
eyelashes long and lovely skin of velvety down
I insist who could resist those eyes so big so brown
(limpid pools?) 'twould make a fool of (almost) any man
but I'm her biggest fan and I won't lie I can't deny
a complexion creamy a gaze quite dreamy
took my breath away that day
and in her hair a ribbon a ribbon of bonny blue
lost my heart (and then my mind) what's a boy to do
'twere love instantly 'At first sight' one might even say
(could she be the one for me?)
I couldn't let her get away and so I took her home
it was a first for me but please don't think the worst
(there'll be no matrimony)
I've sailed the seven seas to the four corners of the earth
been to hell (without a handbasket) and for what it's worth
been around the whole wide world
but waiting there at the country fair
where ruminating I found my one and only
my Jersey Belle, my Jersey girl

Worldly Wise

If the world is going to hell in a handbasket,
'Who's holding the handle?'
is the real question, and I have to ask it.
Also, I wonder how well the world would function
if all corruption were removed at this junction.
Destroy despotism, no more nepotism,
do away with liars, fakers, thieves, heartbreakers,
abolish pundits, politicians, priests, on-the-takers.
If we eliminate crime, cigarettes, drugs and insanity,
so those evils become a thing of the past,
a change for the better could restore humanity,
but how long would it last?
We'll never know, as little is learned from history,
and why that's so is still a mystery.
In the beginning, there were only two,
(whether or not you believe in Adam and Eve)
it's no surprise mankind is clueless what to do
as, since then; incest, inbreeding and man's hate
has brought populations to such a terrible state,
despite those who do good, few and far between,
perhaps it's in their food, or possibly the genes.

Premium MemberDrag Queen Theatrics

A drag queen caused quite a disruption
with her latest drag show production.
While she sang with aplomb,
the full show was a bomb.
That's why she's called Eva Destruction.

At the Elks Club, the men blow a gasket
when they see the act for the Grand Banquet.
Her singing is so fine
and her dance is divine.
She's a drag queen: Helena Handbasket.

High But Not Mighty

Taken the high road
Every damn time
Ending up in the gutter
No matter how hi I climb
Saddle up my high horse
Lead it to water
Same creek different source
One paddle is all they offer
High strung out and out of sorts
Last blast comes with no laughter
Burning bridges the last resort
Blown sky high regret pours soon after
Settn sail three sheets to the wind
High as a kite in lightning storm disaster
In a handbasket hell is destined
Desperate high times spent n plastered
Chasing that dragon that's got me imprisoned
Hell or high water the path to rock bottom is the only pursuit I've mastered

Moscow massacre...
Haitians, Houthis and Hamas...
Violence all round...
The world we've inherited
is hell in a handbasket.

Premium MemberGoing To Hell In a Handbasket

When you see me
Covered and bare
With septic soot -
Sores that began
With Satan’s hoofs.
The ones that trounced
Upon our graves
With subtle lies,
Agenda craze.
Bring all your poor
Through open doors.
Let’s not keep score.
We adore them…
We hid our scales
And common sense.
We filled our streets
With tents and tense.
Fires on wood streets,
Kids with needles
Between their toes.
But aren’t we nice?
We hand them phones.
You’re not alone…
A lullaby -
We rock their bones,
We sell their souls
Along with ours.
We teach them sooths
With candy staffs.
Nevermind rules
Their cruel…object.
Don’t mind hammer
Overhead. Don’t
Look around you.
Keep your eyes fixed
Away from sand,
Afghanistan,
And all good plans.
Enjoy the ride
While water’s cool
Before the boil,
The hooven spoil.
Watch earth’s recoil
When it’s too late.
Miss heaven’s gate.
Enjoy hell’s hate.

Vetrans Relic

Why it's the Flag ? while im here, i believe
Not the people, because of all the thieves
Yes, there are those who have stolen away
The real people from our peaceful ways
Who decides? when serenity fails?
I once thought it was the militaries' detail
But from what I see and what i have seen
i think it's time for the insane to intervene
To Pot in a handbasket, that's the worlds way
But now that's its legal they have nothing to say
Bring on the crazies their voice is allowed
Listen for wisdom as their shouting out loud
then find the sane one who is amongst the crowd
Then watch who will listen or who stifles their voice
The insane know why we are given a choice
So the flag I shall trust long may she wave
And the land it protects may it always be safe!

Entry May 13--2017

I am caught today ... freed

                         by the Host of Light,

              the past -- a lonely s h a d o w

                 swallowed by beautiful tomorrows

I am caught ... between the Wings of

                 heaven's angels and hell's handbasket

                   collects the dust of loneliness;

a crump of faded petals scattered

                                within embered sorrows!
