Challenge of days

I remember when the world felt free
When i was challenged by all that I could see
But the days are less than more
Which means I have fewer to adore
And now I must be the best I can be

Premium MemberHis Little Taradiddle

His little taradiddle made no impact
He lies most of the time, this is a fact
The only one who reacted was old Aunt Gree
She is losing it a bit at age one hundred and three

Premium MemberYo Ho Ho Lets Let Judy be Captain

Judy’s catchy enthusiasm galvanized our pirate crew
so we set sail down the seven seas, ocean blue
yo-ho-ho- we sang loudly, merry and gay
other fearsome pirate ships moved out of our way

excitement permeated our mission, our spirits high
we kissed all our hardships, doubts and do nots goodbye
stirred up, we were filled with crazy amounts of joy and glee
ready to be as evil and mean as Simon La Gree

We are going to make our enemies walk the plank we sang
giving exuberant cheers, our enthusiasm as loud as a bang
we snarled and grouched, and fought over who would be chief
arguing all the way to the largest West Indies big reef

she had set our hearts afire, giving us confidence galore
We were still arguing about it, when we reached a sandy shore
in a very short time, our Judy was elected captain by a vote
I could not argue about it in this island, remote

Times

Silky curtains gleam in sunlight
Gone the night!
Then, clear blue summer sky
Make winter memories fly.
Glowing reflections of stained glass,
Crystal pieces of rainbow pass.
All move, change and flow.
Pulsating life and gree sprouts grow.
Spring's powerful nature
Creates, inspires and we conjure;
We laugh at silly things,
The church bell has how many rings?
Time to wander and to ponder
Like how to spell laugh , we wonder?
Where's the "f" at the end?
And the tiny flowers we tend.
So on and on in time and weakness
Growing in patience and meekness,
Going back to the basics of "us".
We remember God and stop the fuss!
Regardless of health or of weather,
Our resolve to the stars we tether.
Steady in the tide
He is our only Guide,
Stronger than any opiate,
Teaching us the propriate,
Wise, prayerful, and loving Way.
Through times in His peace we stay.

Tgif

Party, till we path things.
I take the bill,
You rock the knee.
'it's a Friday'
Oh! Yes, it is.
If only it pays a lighted spirit.
Shot for shorts,
a gree to the free.

Premium MemberSimon Le Gree

Here lies old Simon Le Gree
A stingier man there will never be
Held onto his last nickel until he died
Stole a fortune from his latest bride
Now here they lie—side by side

The Last Green of this Years Garden
David J Walker

The last green of this year’s garden
Seems to linger into the evenings
Of October

Knowing November is near and
Not matter what

Cannot be stopped
On its way to Decembers frost

I see icy days in the future
I see the snowy pathways

into a New Year
cheering as it

	Vainly promises to
Be better

The last green of this year’s garden
May yield ripe fruit yet

Kwarapshen - Corruption

A Poem in Pidgin English

Me, ma na SARS
I sabi drop bars
My gun ready to blast
Any youth wey dey drive cars
If tattoos na your singlet
We go treat you like piglet
If you no gree cooperate
Omo, you go catch bullet.

Me ma na politician
If you check, I be magician
I dey "pight" my brand of "kwarapshen"
Play ball, I go give you admission.
My certificate na banza
My account balance na fire
If I like I go make yanga
Even next time I go still dey power.

Me ma na Naija
Our mumu don end here
Una plans go backfire
Na my generation go matter
Una vision dey our museum
And we ready to change our condition
Even if una kill small portion
We go still carry out our mission.

Lekki na the catalyst
We go use am minimize fatalities
We don learn all una tactics
And we have all the relevant statistics
Baba God na our confidence
Next election una go see our relevance
We dey ready- no more reluctance
2023 una go see proper sense.

Premium MemberPeaburger Prairie Dog

There was no activity at all in the prairie on this marvelous day.
Peaburger was happy to be off on his journey, on his sweet way.
Had a knapsack on his back, and warm ideas in his adventurous heart.
He could hardly wait to get away from his ex-wife and make a new start.

Ex-wife had moved back in with her new husband and their kids five.
He did not care if he ever again saw any of these prairie dogs alive.
His ex-wife came to the mouth of the hole and yelled “happy be!”
He rolled his eyes, not caring about her, or her new husband Gree.

I am just too generous, too giving, the always-will-finish-last kind of guy,
He lamented as he walked, talking himself into being meaner with try.
Around noon he got out a peanut, and started to eat with his crackers.
He was promptly surrounded by five hungry spotted nutcrackers.

He rolled his eyes to the sky and asked “Why God? Why me?”
He had given those nutcrackers all his food by a quarter until three.
I'm doomed to always be that kind of guy he lamented to angels above.
Young frisky prairie dog who had been watching promptly fell in love.

Premium MemberGreen and Darmie

Gree, the green kingfisher was easily taken advantage of by his friends.
He had a heart of gold, and a caring attitude that never ends.
His friend Marmie was always asking him to do one favor or another.
One day they asked him to give a ride to their brother.

Marmie was a mole, and pretty large, almost corpulent too.
Gree did not know what to say or to do, his options were few.
He did not want to anger his friend Marmie, but he was afraid.
If he had a chubby mole on his back, he might dive bomb first grade.

He could fall to his death over the trees he called home.
He could be killed quickly, and die a horrible death all alone.
But Gree was a people-pleaser, so he decided to take a risk.
He let the mole get on his back. They were off like a whisk.

Marmie’s brother named Darmie was hilarious and fun.
They had such a good time, they made another run.
They were soon flying all over these fast friends, these two.
They loved being with each other, sticking together like glue.

The Story of a Brother Efosa

'Going going gone
Says the ticking clock
For each breaking day draws
A man closer to his end.'
The true essence of time
 ...

Efosa, his mother had named him at birth.
For against all odds,
She too has become a mother.
With high hopes and expectations
She single handedly raised him up
To be a fine young educated man.
For inside Nigeria?
When graduates yapa anyhow without work.

Brother Efosa in search of a better life
And greener pastures, don enter street
Since the kpali he got from the university,
Nor gree bring work
And man must chop to survive.

There's no wealth but life!
That one na big man yarnings.
While there is life there's hope
Na poor man motivation be that.

Beneath the smile and laughter
Of Brother Efosa, lies
Unshed tears, endless wants and needs,
Unuttered ' i don tire for this life sef'
Because even inside the street eh,
Everywhere red anyhow.

So the next time you see
Brother Efosa, be more
Gentle and subtle in your dealings
With him, because life hard reach
Him corner.
