Greasy When Wet

Some poetic thoughts bubble
to the top of your deep waters.

There they congregate, bobbing up and down
forming slicks, oily smears that linger
only to accuse you later when you return to them.

There is a detergent for cleaning them up
it comes in a small spray can
labeled 'revise, edit, or delete.'

Fore heaven's sake
don't let them burst and spill
over the pristine innocence of a page.

Many whopping environmental disasters
begin with a wee smudge.

Premium MemberGreasy Dirty Pig Like and Obscene

Greasy dirty pig-like and obscene,
Gave her no chances, despicable queen.
Made fun of her dress.
Never had a caress.
Her filth was truly nothing to preen.

Premium MemberThe Greasy Spoon

several formica red tables
glass shakers of pepper and salt
big plastic tomatoes I wanted to squeeze
and shaped bottles of sarson’s own malt.

netting on all of the windows
scratch marks from chairs on the floor
ashtrays with notches to rest cigarettes
and 'open' and 'closed' on the door.

menus upright in a v-shape
the 'royals' adorning the wall
food through the fog of benson & hedges
with no one complaining at all.

my past was a foreign country
before chains, regulations and brunch
places I knew from those misty-eyed times
are no more and have all 'gone for lunch'.

Greasy Nicks

I want a real hamburger- you know the real deal
Not the mass produced rubbish with a taste that’s real
I want to go to an old style fish and chippery
And watch a Greek bloke standing cooking it for me

I can hear the home made burger sizzling away
With onions cooking as the smell stays
And you would bite into it holding the white paper bag
As the juices would flow down your chin making you so glad

Maybe there’s still a Greasy Nicks somewhere around
That still nurtures the flavours you remember so profound
And we can stand with the Friday night crowd
Whilst Nick creates perfection standing so proud.

Free Coffee At the Greasy Spoon

5 dimes rest on the cafe counter top
Left behind by a visitor who dined
Waitresses must honor pancake wishes
As they disappear into the kitchen
Swinging doors slam hard behind
The Greasy Spoon makes dishes fly
Coins are unattended at this moment
Priscilla is the locale hobo burglar girl
In need of soap & water and free coffee
At this time she requires dimes
5 would suffice to buy some time
She hides beneath a filthy scarf
Commits the deed with slippery fingers
A well practiced cough as a distraction
Absconds with fifty cents and then gets caught
Officer Flynn is the long arm of the law
Sees everything hidden in the dark
Priscilla learns a valuable lesson about free coffee
It taste much better after being arrested
Compliments of tax payers and the prison system
I would go as far as to say delicious!

The Greasy Spoon

The greasy spoon.

Tea by the mug full.
Sugars by the three
the color of canal water.
that's the brew for me.

No muesli or grapefruits.
No croissants to be seen.
Special k you must be kidding
No continental meats for me.

Sausages nice and blackened.
Bacon crispy as can be.
eggs flipped over
No running yolks for me.

No waffles with syrup.
No pancakes piled up high.
Banana's there for monkeys.
These are not for me.

Give me tinned tomatoes
and beans piled up high.
toast with jam and butter
cornflakes bowl piled high

And just to keep it healthy, a fresh orange juice on the side

Premium MemberNo More Greasy Kid Stuff

Don’t give me more of that greasy kid stuff.
It won’t make my hair stay down.
Instead of smooth, it makes me look rough.
I don’t want to go looking like a clown.

My first try at this type of poetic expression.

Fry Cook At the Greasy Spoon

Bright lights, stoned out waitresses
Burned out cooks work the grill
Bar rush crowd, jukebox loud
Let’s hope they stay in line

You’d never know the dishwasher
Is a drag queen, he buses table butch
The closet case assistant manager
Is as hot for him, as I am for the blonde.

The waitresses move like sports cars
With positraction smoothness
And we call out orders
In old movie slang to break monotony

After thirteen hours here
Winding my way back home
I’ll stop for breakfast and flirting
With the morning girl at George Webbs.

Greasy Fried Chicken!

give me some fried chicken,
as greasy as grease can be;
with fried taters on the side,
who's worried about fat free?!

give me a breast of chicken,
cooked in gran'ma's lard;
make sure that bird's extra crusty,
'cause i like my chicken hard!

bring on the jalapenos,
so hot i can hardly speak;
now tell mama to call my job,
i'll be sick for at least a week!
