Oscar is intelligent
And very sensible too
In a difficult situation
He knows what to do
Even though he worries
When things get out of hand
It's only when things seem wrong to him
That he doesn't understand
He is too young to know
The ins and outs of life
And sometimes his caring ways
Cause Oscar lots of strife
He is keen to learn
And is extremely good at sport
He is very witty
And quick with a retort
He is a good swimmer
And a scuba diver too
Interested in nature
And going to the zoo
He loves to travel
He's a fortunate lad
Travelling to foreign places
With his brother, Mum and Dad
Oscar has many friends
Who goes with him to a gym
We are very proud to have a grandson
Just like him

Our eldest grandson is called Rory
who likes a book with a good story
to read by a light
at bed time each night
so long as the plot is not gory.
Now Toby is his younger brother
with pink as his favourite colour.
When he feels cross inside
he runs far and wide
until he's had time to recover.
* * *
Rex the eldest brother so clever
was ready for any endeavour,
but when he got lost
he got very cross,
though he kept on searching for whatever.
Second is a fidgety boy called Ted
who wriggled until he fell out of bed.
He fell to the floor
and cried with a roar,
so his Mummy knew he wasn't dead.
Kit the youngest, just a little mite,
has eyes very dark and yet so bright.
As he throws his shoe
he'll glance up at you
with a mischievous look of delight.

We have dear Grandsons one, two, three,
Now Dominic's off to the Learning Academy.
Luke's in the lead, with 3 years at Swansea U,
Scott's completed his course in Music too.
So Dominic has joined the happy band at last,
His days as a babe have officially passed.
Into his brand new uniform just to show,
He's a big lad and off to school you know.
We have watched him as he played with toys,
He has learning abilities to bring his Mum joy.
All three are getting education for future years
We hope that all three will surpass their peers.
To get themselves set in their chosen careers.
We pray for our Grandsons, one, two, three,
That they obtain honors that people will see,
They're good enough to employ in the industry.
In the years to come may they all stand tall,
Way to Go Guys. Well Done, We Love you All.

Car doors slam, country quiet broken
A race ensues… front door flies open
Dogs start barking, excitedly running
A happy day... grandsons are coming
Overnight bags in a flash are dropped
Energy released can never be stopped
"Papaw! Momo! We're here!" they yell
All that is missing is a ringing doorbell
Hugs, big smiles, checking all rooms
We stay mostly outside all afternoon
A walk up the driveway for a short hike
Playing on porch or riding their bikes
At supper they tell all that they know
Story after story and swear it is so
Baths, snacks, teeth brushed and bed
Tucked in kisses after prayers are said
Tired dogs look at us with questioning eyes
Is this temporary or for the rest of our lives?
Beside each child they settle for the night
On alert for a sign something's not right
Exhausted, we smile at our pride and joys
Grateful to have this time with the boys

Grandsons. Yes, I'll hug you.
Hug you and hug you and hug you
until you say "Grandpa let go!"
But I won't, not ever.
Never, never, never.
I watch you boys sleep.
I watch you boys play.
I watch you fight and cry and
yell and scream. Laugh and giggle
and run like the demons of hell
are chasing you.
But even if they are, they'll
never catch you. Grandpa won't let them.
I listen to your chatter and reply in kind.
Hear your tales of invention flood
from your little minds.
Stories and adventures. Little boys world.
Grandsons, dear Grandsons, you do
fill up the hours of the day.
Grandsons. Yes, I'll hug you.
Hug you and hug you and hug you
until you say "Grandpa let go!"
But I won't, not ever.
Never, never, never.

Grandpa
My grandsons,
Lee, Eoin, Christopher, Rowick.
A boy needs a Grandpa,
for man-to-man talks.
To go hand in hand,
on companionable walks.
To fix up his toys,
when they no longer go.
To tell him the things,
little boys want to know.
A boy needs a Grandpa,
to show him the way.
To handle a puppy,
to teach him fair play.
To impart bits of wisdom,
he's learned through the years.
That it's no disgrace,
for a man to shed tears.
A boy needs a Grandpa,
to sit on his lap.
And if no one is looking,
they take a wee nap.
Each wrapped in an aura,
of love and esteem.
Each smiling gently,
at some special dream.

I know three little boys,
who would like some toys,
this year grandpa is to poor
I would like to buy you more,
but saying I love you all,
Tyler, Nick, and Parker,
I know your all getting tall,
wish I could be there,
growing up to fast,
your childhood won't last,
this poem is my gift to you,
it was the only thing I could do.
