Afternoon Delight!
Lookin’ forward to a little afternoon delight
Turn! Turn! Turn!
There is a season turn, turn, turn
A time to every purpose under heaven
A time for neck rub, a time for kiss, a time to unfold 70’s clock radio music
Peter, Paul and Mary
88.7
Bob Dylan, Donovan, Neil Young
A time to borrow propane tank next door
A time to swim in ocean of stars
A time to Yale at Jose – the gardener
A time to country
two left feet who never promise a rose garden
A time for Chopin piano concerto along with a time for COVID models
A time for Mahjong and Gin rummy
Without winning or losing
Whopping Leap of faith: A time of homemade haircut
A time for Prosecco and strawberries; a time for Instacart
A time to Mystic Hills; a time to Top of the World
Oh, my beloved lemon thief
A time to dream –
grateful dreams – tasty dreams – To Have and Have Not dreams
Today and always
The greatest radio station in the world!!
My days as a married woman with children,
My husband Walter and i had a cottage at North Bay.
This was an A-frame cottage,
Beautiful near the lake.
Our sons Kirk and Erik liked playing on the shore,
We would go swimming in the water.
Then father Walter would take us in a row boat,
A cruise on the lake would guest.
I would cook the delicious food,
Father would gather firewood for the wood burning stove.
We would play games with the children in the living-room,
Like gin rummy and monopoly.
The cottage had an upper level and a lower level,
Decorated with care and love, very simple.
Very scenic and beautiful with tall birch trees.
The cottage had a picnic table on the deck where you could have lunch.
There was a fair portion of property with the cottage,
Seldom scenic and beautiful, what an awesome place.
Would take us about two hours to get there,
Walter would drive us to the North Bay cottage.
What good memories we have of this,
I am thankful to God for all these blessings.

There we were for the summer,
Living on one of the thousand islands.
Our parents had reserved the island for us,
My brother and I were on vacation.
Our father had packed the Volkswagon to the brim,
With supplies and clothes, took hours to pack and unpack.
Father would go and buy the groceries for us,
Mother would cook delicious food for us.
The island was beautiful,
We would go swimming in the lukewarm water.
i remember the time when my brother Tom,
Was floating on an air mattress .
Father tipped him and he fell in the water,
He didn't like that much.
We all liked swimming,
Our parents had taught us.
We played games in the living-room,
Gin rummy was our favorite.
Each summer our parents treated us to a cottage holiday,
What a blessing from our parents and God.

a fun poem.
day is new.
something fun to do.
kazoo, or zoo.
weekend, fun begins.
unwind, tune in.
zen or gin rummy.
shop or not.
play all day.
chores to do, think small.
back to the mall.
Nights like this are made for us
Crescent moon smiles down;
broadly
We walk along the river
Coke and a picnic basket
With two flashlights we begin
Gin rummy, we play all night
You dump men over superficial things and I don't understand this.
You throw men away and they usually get pissed.
I think the way you treat men is very crummy.
Last week you dumped my friend because he beat you at gin rummy.
You got mad because a man said he didn't like your favorite television show.
When he asked you out a second time, you said hell no.
You didn't like a guy's shirt so you said goodbye.
I still remember seeing him wipe the tears from his eyes.
You dumped me because I dropped a candy bar on your floor and that was
wrong.
It's not surprising that your relationships don't last very long.
You did some irritating things but I wouldn't have dumped you.
You want to find true love but I don't think you'll be able to.
How will you deal with a big problem when you can't even deal with problems
that are small?
If you keep this up, you won't have anyone at all.
