As Death Draws Near

As death draws near, we have reason to reflect.
At God's judgment, will we stand tall, free of defect?
If we could, would it be just the aftereffect
of a life lived for self, with pride’s introspect?
What did God ordain with the word, resurrect?

There comes to the soul, a day when we're subject -
to guilt as a sinner, immoral, suspect.
We can put the blame on evil’s misdirect
but our faults we can own in circumspect
bond with the God-head, we no longer reject.

My friend, when that day comes in Christian prospect,
we'll all fall on our faces in awe and respect
for the Savior, Christ our Lord, grand Architect
who can redeem, empower, thereby perfect
stark lives that once faced death's dark disconnect.

What did God ordain with the word - resurrect?
Change, redirection from the dead, in effect.
When Jesus’ forgiveness for sin we accept
we bow the knee in service and genuflect
to glorious grace as God’s chosen elect.

Premium Memberat the ball

the vampire queen was on the hunt at the vampire ball
vultures, beasts and demons came to her as if by a call

she transmogrified devils into trolls with one flick
this queen was cagey, incredibly sneaky and slick

in the vampire king’s manor, the ballroom was dimly lit,
gnomes were as at home here as claws and hoofs that fit.

there is a hunger that must be satisfied, this is for sure.
the vampire queen advanced quickly, her motives impure.

hidden in the dark, dank, dismal shadows was the vampire king.
watching the queen with all of his might, her neck quite the thing.

the dance began slowly, as he advanced from her left without genuflect.
She turned and gave him that come-hither look and let him see her neck.

Allocation, Ally

Allocation, O ally?
Resources put where?
In the heads of those who fly?
Worry, hast thou care?

O ye spirits, I collect!
End Times, be my Muse!
Golden gods to genuflect?
Dare to disabuse!

Wrath of wind, thy cyclone?
It really must blow in.
Heaven and Hell, hie to hone!
Drenching downpour, din!

Ramparts of old castle?
They're slippery when wet.
Gods of death, call thy vassal!
How could we forget?

Tomb of ancient pharaoh?
A curse is on the door.
Folly thus to enter? Go?
Doom, thy pinafore!

Mercenary armies!
Become, O lords of hell!
Storm from thy cemeteries!
Legions, lead thee well!

Soar, O mighty eagles!
O parapets, take heed:
Fate and Fortune, full the fools!
Grind them in their greed!

Ache in heart of bygone race?
Lulled within thy chase.
Dithering is thy disgrace!
Seize the skin of face...

Premium MemberWearable Tech

I think that if I could have wearable tech
it might be a vest that inflates in a wreck.
Perhaps a decoder of lyrics by Beck,
or one that converts between gallons and pecks?
Or lets me run wild in the ship’s holodeck.
But I am afraid if I am circumspect,
it is I that this tech likely tries to inspect,
to direct my actions, make me genuflect.
Big brother, who watches, with powers unchecked!
So with due politeness and all due respect,
This wearable tech is a watch I reject.

Sizzle

My hair ripping as her fingernails entwine
pulling my head back
She slaps me harder than she should
Her smile slightly offset
My cheek reddening from the welt of her hand
Shifting herself forcing me deeper within her
The pleasure of her warmth
subdued the pain
My throb in unison with her undulating frame
Cast myself down in reverence
Genuflect to her genitalia
Praising with my grunts and groans
Come she barks her orders
Her hips thrusting with disjointed pressure
Empty now in a guttural groan
but she is not complete
Her knees shifted
Now either side of my face
Choking, gurgling her essence
Her musk a must
Her wetness engulfing
No protection from her want

Allowance, Allosaur?

Thunder, sound above. Found.
Do we need intellect?
O inner heart, resound!
Grill, gain, and genuflect!
Words of the prophet writ.
The serpent deeply bit...

Forget regret, riffs on what ifs

Forget riffs of regrets

But

To the hilt
We tilt to
Inbuilt lilt
A guilt quilt
Can jilt & wilt

But

No tiffs with what ifs
Won’t let you fret
Circumspect.. I find
Older you get
Bet..more honest…more kind

Care more..know more
Late bloomer rumour
Embraces candour...humour
Respect velvety vagaries
Traces of reflect

Suspect future’s the tutor
Detect serendipity the suitor
Evolution..glints of revolution
Pip that convoluted New Year’s tip

Genuinely don’t genuflect
No sorrow...deflect hints
Of mooted rebooted resolution
Suspect Tomorrow might
Be your best day yet!

Premium MemberMillie the Mermaid was a Reading Machine

Millie, the mermaid was a reading machine.
It started with a shipwreck, among the marine.
A library for a king had gone down in the wreck.
I can teach myself to read, she said without genuflect.

She started with picture books, one word on a page
Those old Dick, Jane and Sally texts which tells my age.
Moved on to primers and dictionaries with pix.
Now she is reading novels, instead of watching flicks.

She has read almost every book in this library now.
Currently reading a textbook on how to raise a goat or cow.
If I had legs, I would get on land and grab more books she groused.
I’d read poet from Poe, Coleridge, Emerson, Browning and Foust.

She did a whizbang job on her science project
Her teacher was impressed and did a genuflect
Parents pretended she had done it all her way
These perfectionists had done it after sending her out to play

Adoration Called For

For it speaks true, to sensitize
through taste and touch, nose, ears and eyes
By nature, some will genuflect,
a flower's fragrance to respect,
detect unseen need to admire
gifts freely given by the Sire.
Fires up arms to pick within reach
all goodness plants, uncalled for, teach.
Breach dug in doubt - fear engineers
imperfect thoughts, brave minds adhere,
revere the truth, all that's divine -
Adore Creator's grand designs,
Aligne with hope to all He swore,
implore the One called to adore.

Premium MemberHit by a Stegosaurus Tail

the den is as dark as the inside of a witch’s hat, macabre as can be
someone with a green face and pointed nose sits across from me
her nose gives a twitch, there is too much make up around her eyes
her hat is pointed with inverted peak at the top, no big surprise.

my partner is dressed as a computer, with a square metallic head.
Her date is Dracula, red blood around mouth as if he’s eaten some dead.
my date is uncomfortable, I can tell by the way his eyes move around.
a more unlikely candidate for a Halloween party can rarely be found.

table is set in Victorian crystal; there is a pile of something on the plate.
hostess has just arrived dressed in drag; she is fashionably late.
We clap for her, for her entrance deserves some kind of applause.
Walking past our table is a dark grizzly with the longest bear claws.

Let’s get out of here my date says as a tail hits him in the neck.
Tail of a large sparkly purple stegosaurus who stops to genuflect.
Giving the hostess his arm, making his way back now.
Tail hits my man again. He jumps up and says “Holy cow!”

Requiem for a Motherless Child

REQUIEM FOR A MOTHERLESS CHILD

Hallelujah….. Hallelujah…..Hallelujah

Leaning on the somewhat-padded kneelers
is a family lined horizontal to the father.
This is as close as they’ve been to each
other since the last show was put on. The
first act is always the same. Smiling faces,
awkward embraces with peace be with you’s.
The daughter distracts herself by etching
“help,” on the pew. The wood’s softness
clumps underneath her fingernails.

Mother Mary calm our fears, have mercy.

Trying not to air her grief and weakness.
She breathes in dust and exhales demons.
Residual holy water pools with nervous
sweat. Lingering on mother’s tongue is
the taste of this morning’s threat.

Here I am lord. Is it I lord?

Smells of fresh cut grass circles through
the open stained glass windows. Relief
from the heat of catholic shame and 90°
weather. Cracks and creaks of wood and
aged bodies end the mass. Time to genuflect
rather than genuinely reflect on their
family’s hellish days. And all that’s left for
the little one to do, is listen to the final
hymn. Requiem for a motherless child.

Snail travels to Japan in the fanciest way
We see him traveling, he’s cutesy today
He is wearing a camera around his neck.
He stops to give the emperor a genuflect.

His hat is from Australia, his eyeglasses from the wild.
He scoots around old men, he picks up a lady bug child.
We flowers surround him, admiring his ensemble of beauty.
It is our Japanese privilege, not our tradition or duty.

Premium Memberwish I knew how to circumspect

writing poems with my chicken neck
a sprinkle of salt, why not? What the heck?
Words surround my mind, one gives a genuflect.
humor is there somewhere, if I knew how to circumspect.
