We wanted to break bread
that was pure, clean, pristine,
stark white and wholesome,
with a crisp, but soft,
light brown crust.
The field was prepared with
thrice washed and cleaned machinery,
and spread with N, P, K fertilizer
applied overhead.
The soils was filtered to remove
all weeds, sticks and stones,
stubble and rubble,
so it was homogeneous,
with a uniform grain size,
The wheat seed was a proven,
ancient old world genotype,
with its genome still intact.
The seed was milled to remove
all traces of wheat germ and bran,
then twice bleached to stark white.
The dough was leavened with soda
and baked well-timed,
in a clean fan-draft oven,
at just the right temperature,
for just the right time.
Behold! There we have it!
Our pure white bread,
wholesome and perfect,
in every way, that we break
for breakfast at break of day.

Push and pull, life’s game inane,
fleeting joy, lingering pain;
a strange darkness where we dwell,
holed up in body-mind shell.
We wish to have right of way,
in this form doomed to decay
and it’s only when death nears,
oblivion heightens fears.
Fast forward to point of death,
the moment of our last breath;
knowing not where we’re headed
and to whom we’ll be wedded.
Back here now, as we exhale,
does heart sing or does it pale,
worried about the morrow,
attachments cause of sorrow?
Instant can be soul’s release,
free from fear, flowing with ease,
if we get to know we are,
light of God, a shining star.
God is love and heart’s His home;
living light is our genome,
which we see in direct sight,
if but we give up the fight.

When I was a kid, Watson and Crick’s discovery of DNA
Was still a bit like science fiction and not completely understood
Dreams of curing cancer, never growing old, viral vaccinations
Mapping out the human genome would make them proud of us
Splicing genes with CRISPR Cas9 Vectors
Is still only just the beginning,
We’ve barely touched the tip of the iceberg
Still, one day, like in the Star Trek universe
With a simple shot from hypo spray
No more COVID and Dr. Flox would send us on our way
But life is not TV land
I suppose God must have other plans
Perhaps He’s not so pleased that
Science is the new religion of this Day N Age
He’s really going to be surprised when we scrape the shroud of Turin
For some Jesus DNA
And clone the Son of God so we can look him in the eyes
And pray tell we may say,
“What the hell have we done, oh Spliceosome?”

octopus, as I study you
your geneology is not tried and true
alien DNA is what you have, my friend
i wish could talk to clear up this trend
your extensive genome has great complexity
with thirty thousand coding genes, you outrank me
are you from mars, venus or is pluto your extension?
your problem-solving skills are beyond my comprehension
octopus, as I study you
I am confused, what can i do?
who can I ask?
maybe only you.

Irrefutable evolution conduits
Matter tip toes through tunnels
Microscopic nano shifts continue
Outperformers filter free of funnel
Replicas of kept traits hail heredity
Thrivers cognate with larger logic
Attentive nurture forms pedigree
Love poured over timid progeny
Genome keys cut exacting bones
Entrapped wrapped sticky chrysalis

proclivity to get in sight of
the finish line
Just to shoot myself in the foot
Ancestraly handed down generations
upon next
misguided to safely stay put
Regardless of condition in situ
As I reach for
dreams that beckon afar
The lesson engraved on my genome
don't be silly
Who do you think you are
Do it anyway after all what's the worse
that can be said
As you buck this curse
See, we told you so
You never learn
We sent you to school for your books to burn

Mystifying indeed it is
The twelve petaled lotus bliss fizz
Beneath which hidden, petals eight
Spake Master Djwal Kul, truth is this
Esoteric truths lie in wait
To garner full depth, make heart chaste
Inner sanctum, our master’s home
In void of our heart, He does wait
Threefold Christ flame, within heart dome
Therein resounds, cosmic gong Ohm
Prismatic light bright, bliss vibrant
Transmuting then thus, our genome
We vaporise in the current
Pristine white light, luminescent
Cave of heart, garden of Eden
Thousand suns glow effervescent
Conscience speaks, we do as bidden
Love’s fragrance, remains not hidden
From head to toe, we’re bliss replete
As above, so below - Heaven

I think love is the greatest thing –
and few will disagree; and no
need for gene splicing, genome
sequencing in a lab to propagate –
just good old fashioned love
produces love: with gentle strokes
of kindness; encouraging words,
gestures and sweet nudges –
I see love in the feline grooming
her kittens; love in a bird protecting
her nest at the cost of her life if
necessary; love in the breast of a
nurturing mother – in the supporting
nature of a 24/7 wife; I see love
in the sun, for when it shines things
grow and ripen; I see love in the
rain, for we quench and know,
that love is alive and well – a short
word, and as easy to give as spell;
yet a world of evil can't kill it...for
God on high, as man's saving grace
supports and triumphantly wills it –

They know not everything, this time
Baffled that viruses and some folk actually rhyme
A virus has populations fully beat
Antibodies at the heart of the vaccine feat
Antibodies to which protein in the viral proteome?
Produced by which part of the human genome?
The questions come quickly to mind
Can we join them in the find?
For too long we have been lab rats of a kind
They studied diseases among us they could find
Now we posit, the tables have turned
Black lives matter, black brains can't be spurned

When you visit my site, sad to say, sound's subsonic
My ears can't hear music an elephant hears,
A text message is louder (I do read all comments),
At times, I confess (though) they bring me to tears!
If my tears are from laughter or joy (when you honor
Me here with your presence) I count it a win,
For it's not just agreement, in fact, that I'm after.
I still dare to dream all that I share ghosts my sin!
Not just sin I've committed, but sin in my genome,
Hardwired by free will that no man has escaped!
Should the pitch of your visits be something I value?
Ascribed too to sin? Should such manners be aped?
I don't write for your pleasure, still pleased when that happens.
In faith, I am you and think you are me too!
But our acts trip us up on the path to tomorrow,
All virtue's skin deep that we wear (frail tattoo)!
It's in pain that I grok you (for you're my reflection)
Though friendship has content like words of a song,
It's a choice that we make (and the heart of what matters!)
If Grace can't intoxicate, something is wrong!

A nanosecond clock in a micro universe
dividing billion cells, in proteins immersed.
Cobbled together, ladders of DNA blueprint
double-helix twisted, gene-code with no hint.
A-T-C-G dialect, like a Shakespeare sonnet,
chord of notes with quirky programs on it.
Mother Nature database of zillion Giga Bytes
an elegant mystery, how so small she writes?
Sequence of little molecules, makeup diverse
In a Genome Microcosm*, Life is a Universe.
*The word Microcosm in Greek means "Small Cosmos"
