Can't tell the truth
Only care about themselves
Never helps the poor
Gives big at marathon union roasts
Redacting the constitution/priority one
Except for the wealthy
Sucks up to fundraisers
Smooch baby smooch

Premium MemberFame

When I was a little girl, like other little girls, I craved Fame. As a child I modeled clothes for church fundraisers. And, sold Girl Scout Cookies, but no Fame. I even became a Candy Striper (one who volunteers to work in hospitals), but this did not yield Fame. A few years later I was writing verses for greeting cards and my friends said it was quite good. I went in to business for the first time, but still no Fame. At a later period in my life I took classes to be a Graphic Artist and graduated - A Little Fame. Then, a period came where I started to write and I believed I could write well enough to become a Famous writer. And although I sold some of my creations, the Fame that I craved had not materialized.

At this time in my life I found something that was greater than my cravings. It was God. Now, I don't crave Fame 'cause I don't need to be a star when I am a Masterpiece and a Star for Him.

If you have cravings or ambitions or just want Fame, ask God how you are to be. This will bring you to: FAITH, ALMIGHTY, MERCY AND ETERNITY.

Reach Out

Soft spoken like Charmin
The earth is down to you
You'd sacrifice the clothes off your body
in a winter storm
Forever putting yourself out of the photo
Loyal to snakes
Spearhead in your spine
future bright as a lit billboard at 2 a.m.
all for $2000
Now you live among rapists, murderers
talking only within
Came out of the closet to me
and strictly me
Regret fills lungs like butterflies
My oldest friend
Dreamt of being a pioneer
We sucked ideas from each others brain
World conquerors together
Helped Mrs. Stalworth with 1000 groceries
Taught the slow boy to double knot
This is not your destiny
You befriended me when I was fresh meat
Orchestrating fundraisers in our minuscule community
Catching game winning TD’s
Unstoppable on the field
Nicknamed sticky hands on the gridiron
Now off it too
What changed, pal?
Times get rocky
you taught me that
Why can’t you take your own advice?
Frustration boils like magma
Secrets deteriorate a person
like battery acid
Why didn't you confide in me?
Heroin destroys like tornados
My heart full of glass and impotence
I could have helped you, brother
I'm sorry I let you fall
off that never ending cliff

It’s an honor and a privilege
And a lot of fun to be
A Team Member
Of the SSP

In 1956
Back in history
The Secretaries Club was born
At UTMB

To orient, teach
And meet socially
With seminars, programs
And luncheon meetings monthly

With groups
Of developed committees,
Fundraisers and contributions
Support the university

It’s now much more
Than a club of secretaries,
It’s the Support Staff Professionals
Called the SSP!

Cost

I snarl, bite and twist
tearing truth from rigid lips
cracked by virulent vapors
the kindling of Jesus’ manger
burning like a rancid piece of meat
diseased depravity tossed at hungry, mottled feet
as homeless children scour for a glass of truth
drinking from gourmet gutter water
polluted by profitable wonders
like sound proof autos
equipped with directions to political fundraisers
which promise compassion under a Chablis chuckle
So is ambivalence ambition’s bane
languishing like an innocuous acid rain
stinging Aids victims who are wasting without sleep
offering them a cheaper mortgage rate
as CEO’s build a better GNP
numbers sold to edify the American dream
suburbia draped in red, white and blue
never colorblind, merely imbued
like picket fences, family values, and barbeques
that perhaps someday it could be me and you
whether fighting tyranny here or abroad
sacrificing for the most worthy cause
that you’re never truly a patriot
until you pay the cost
