My Hair

Take every coil and frizz as they come
Smothered with oil, protected from sun
There’s so much wrong said and felt and done
But our hair is our culture and history in one
More of this is what needs to be said
There's beauty in the way it grows out of our head

unfriendly brisk morn
before melted snowman prowls
whilst watching the dog
~
unfriendly brisk morn
melted snowman melts falls
drip dropping melt so
~
frizz brisk temperature
melting waters drains off curb

Premium MemberStanding Where I Am In Truth

Here I am nearly reached three score and ten
life has passed on through my years
it's been eventful that's certain for sure
but have survived it with no tears

Nerves have ruled most of my life
been a battle but won some of them
strangers approaching makes you frizz
but learn to adapt so feel a gem

So often felt not the real thing
not quite the normal guy such a tongue
words were never my strong point
struggle was my word even when I was young

But you adapt finding strength to win
despite the struggles, you get there somehow
been always in a job for worked 44 years
now enjoy retirement fully free now

Standing where I am in truth
pleased to have reached this place
looking back seeing God's hand on me
feel privileged to achieve this at base

( A look back on life from today's standpoint)

Hair

HAIR

In the tangle of curls, a story unfolds
Each strand, a tale waiting to be told
A canvas of self-expression, bold and free
Hair, the crown that shapes identity

From frizz to curl, from short to long
In the symphony of styles, we all belong
A mane of power, of beauty, of grace
A reflection of our inner space

So let your hair dance in the wind
Let its wildness be your kin
For in the strands that fall and rise
Lies the truth behind our eyes

Give Me Death

Woolly my hair is
Intimidating to some in its natural frizz
Why do we judge by the color of our skin
Isn’t judgement and hate a sin
The impurity of capital vices
Have us in an inhumane crisis
I ponder and put on some blues
In a matrix-I know what pill to choose
Luxuries will not be the death of me
Give me death if I can’t have liberty
We need to speak the truth
Sojourner been doing it since her youth
Evil is all around us
We must seek our own justice
Demonstrate kindness and optimism
While obliterating racism

Curly Hair

The magic gem of curly hair,
Procures itself in sodden downpour.
Frizz retracts and curls define,
Revitalised by heaven's moisture.
No brolly required.
No wind-swept locks.
A long-awaited makeover,
Of the most natural kind.

50 Words For Poe: Winter

"50 Words for Poe: Winter"

Hey, you know how it goes
when you had your first kiss

Poetry kind of gets you between
the gonads with that kinda shizz

Yep, you’re lost on the swell when it
hits that frizz

You just gotta hit the surf and
when the waves come for you
dive under the Effers
You’ll come out of the Lemonade, betya 10 quids
Head up, you’re King or Queen of the Waves

This is how "IT" begins

Sharks, bellies full of sunk brave
are there to awaken

"Kavorka"
Byron knew that biz

"Kavorka"
Poetry in Bliss

Go on
Deal those cards
Black Jack

No Pikers

Never pass this way again
It’s Now or Never

We’re ALL heading towards Winter

My Mama and My Hair

One comb,
One brush,
Some spray to tame the frizz,
Two handfuls of gel
to secure the final product.

First, she brushed.
Then she combed,
so the curls could find their way back home.

Her gentle hands held my head,
while the comb steered it in each direction.
With her unmatched patience,
she worked her way through each knot.

There were so many knots.

Those wild strands-
I never understood
how they got each other tied up
in such a mess,
But my mother combed.

She sorted through every problem,
Those curls jumped into.
Even though,
After every rescue,
There was a new mess.

Those locks
with the spirit of dread locks,
were never content,
not for a moment.
So, she combed.

Her hands cramped,
but she combed.

My stubborn hair refused,
knowing the comb was only
trying to help.

Time passed.
My hair conceded for the day.

The knots built up.

My hair returned
the next morning
to my mother’s side.
absolutely hysterical.
So, my mother combed.

Three Limericks

I.
There was a young man from Milwaukee
Who forever was playing at haukee.
His deplorable luck
Was to swallow a puck,
Now he drinks all his drinks through a straukee.

II.
There was an old char who’d get teary
When confronted with weather too dreary—
It would grow more severe
When she'd guzzle some beer—
("But that’s only a theory, me dearie!")

III.
A pop-loving girl from Atlanta
Drank up numerous bottles of Fanta—
Soon a surfeit of fizz
Gave her hair so much frizz
She could whizz through the air just like Santa.

My Hair

My friends say my hair's got "BODY",
My friends say my hair's got "LIFE",
I don't know what to do with it,
But it's causing me some STRIFE!
My friends say "People would pay good money for that",
My friends say it "looks fine",
Well I just wish it wasn't like this,
And that it wasn't mine!
My friends say I'm a "YUMMY MUMMY",
My friends say "Wear your hair with pride",
I just want to stay indoors,
And find a place to hide!
My word for this is FRIZZ,
It's as plain and simple as that,
So if I can't straighten it,
I'll just hide it with a hat!

Ponytail

I haven't had a ponytail
Since I was very young
And even then, most likely,
Into braids my hair was hung.

When frizz set in, I chopped my locks
And thus the die was cast,
So ponytails and pigtails were
A remnant of the past.

But when I see a jogger
With her ponytail a'bounce,
Its jaunty whipping of the air
Seems like it does announce:

Just check me out! I'm oh, so cool
And confident and fit.
So feast your jealous eyes -
I'm the epitome of IT!

Praise Lord

Praise Lord

Let your mind frizz not, in the evil flash of thoughts.
Embrace within.
Light of night, his key is king.
 Lock road with joy.
Neither nor eyes blind switch.
Seek name let all be welcomed.
Proverb is a doing word.
 Action takes time.
 Nothing is through catch.
 Beat is rhythm.
Voice comes with spoken word.
Exhale fresh breath.
 Speak in tongue.
Brain is in charge.

Fear range in a mortal flash.
 Stress wrestling physical being.
 String rings in mind.
Light up never end.
Let glory sing in your sight.
 Beauty spread in map.
Call name for location be trapped.
Preach gospel of Luke and John.
One day he will come.
 Be prepared!

Ten yes down the time.
Five John see and five in right.
Idiots live without light.
 Bright pass the line.
 Stay shaped like assegai.
Phrase the name Pluto.
 Light failed her.
Names exist in life. Death is unknown side.
Pin aim, hand touch the breast, sight is bright.
Praise God! Stay right!

Premium MemberMake Love To Me In That Ancient Place

WRITTEN FROM A MARRIED WOMAN'S PERSPECTIVE

i know we have been married a very very long time
we barely ever talk in fact i might as well be a mime

it is normal i suppose after so long to lose interest
please understand i am not at all trying to be a pest

i wonder if you even still  know where it is
just below my belly button you'll see the frizz

i wish - though it's been ages - you would find again that old space
and then Make Love To Me In (what for you is) That Ancient Place

inhuman torture
in a beautician's chair
willingly self-inflicted
hopeful of the outcome

childhood dismay
hair curled on rollers
hooked by wires
to monstrous machine
relentless weight

aftershock
embarrassment
head cap of electric frizz
fright wig extraordinaire
Li'l Orphan Annie's twin
staring back from the mirror

no way to undo it
endure, wait it out
pray for rapid growth
and a new haircut

stay-at-home phobia
creative head coverings
adolescent lament
