I wish my eyes would open up its arms,
And let the necessary tears fall,
Like due drops of rain to wash away,
The state of emptiness that I feel –
So, fill my beating heart like a yard glass;
May the limits of my soul,
Be not found as broken, though wholly at peace –

A floodgate
Is opened in the
Meanderings of
Wholeness
As THIS gains
Resonance..
THIS excludes
No story..and all
Stories can expand
Racing away as
The story of the
Expanding universe..
Words hang together
Somehow and can
Seem as infinity
Lives in each
Story:
THIS...

Locked up in stares
Silence is the teacher
Spread in bed
Time should forgive us
You caress my troubles
An invitation to my pleasures
You awaken my senses
Despite my inner seizures
Your thrusts pound on the exterior
Body gestures for improvement
Attentive but less spoken
You deliver to my inner
My sounds, your melody
Your touch, my symphony
Hands where they should be
Lips need not speak
Time has forgiven us
You've unleashed the beast

Combatting attacks of spiritual dearth
My soul agonizes midst prayer plight
Yearning to be powered with divine might
As God opens floodgates of triumph mirth.
In overcoming supply-lack crises
My heart yearns for ready replenishment
And floodgates’ opening entitlement
Believing that the Lord timely blesses.
Struggling against discontentment sorrow
My carnal mind now demands grace to reign
While confessing doubts, causing woe and pain
Since bounty floodgates open tomorrow.
Reaching-out, sharing Gospel of hope’s call
My faith seeks the Saviour Who enriches
With trust knowing His hand widely stretches
To open* redemption floodgates for all.
*Psalm 118:19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD.

Open the Floodgates
Huddled together like one thousand tears
Or a million moons in one sky
Hundreds of vehicles, wreckage galore
Too many sad scenes make one cry…
Cancer cells, heartache, delusions, and pain
Or a million bags in the sea
Bundles of flowers knotted too tight
Packed immigrants yearn to be free…
Colors too bright, the sun too intense
Or a million ants in one pile
Too many drugs, too much weight to support
Too much hurt to allow one to smile…
Too many feelings of pain and despair
Or a million unwanted hates
Freedom, dear freedom, a billion tears
When it’s time to open the floodgates…

OPEN THE FLOODGATES
For weeks I’d suffered writer’s block,
Devoid of inspiration.
I couldn’t think of what to write.
I was close to desperation.
Rhymezone wouldn’t accept my rhymes,
My syllable count was awry.
I was closer to throwing the towel in
As every day went by.
Then Edward Ibeh came along
And challenged me to respond
To his ‘Pick a Title’ contest.
I drew back from the Slough of Despond.
For, suddenly, my muse returned,
I would not be denied.
Nothing now could stem the flow,
The floodgates opened wide.
Meteoric metaphors,
And similes abounding.
Lilting, light alliteration,
Imagery astounding.
It’s in the style of Shakespeare,
With a hint of Byron too.
And one line even made me think
Of Maya Angelou.
I’ve no idea what it’s about,
It’s from a different time zone.
But the meaning doesn’t matter.
It’s been approved by Rhymezone

I chase the migrating mirage of endless desires
in the desolate desert of my weary existence,
I carry my languishing life listlessly across bleakness
on the pitiless pathway of disparaging delusion.
I wander worn down in the wasted landscape
with the deceptive awareness of bereft belonging
to the surreal ambiance of beguiling openness,
I’m caught in the whirlpool of mire of mortal being.
I strive strongly to be free from the worldly grip,
destiny designs, resulting in the loss of essence,
impelling me to break away and chart a new path,
with discernment of divine conscience guiding me.
I transcend the looming limits of space and time,
implore God to show me the way of inward journey,
for I devoutly yearn to be suffused serenely with
the patina of perpetual peace shining in the soul.
I perceive the shower of His graceful endowment,
flooding me with the aura of freedom and happiness.
I sense delighted the faithful flow of blissful divinity
inundate my inner sanctum as I open the floodgates.

Open the floodgates dear,
of body, mind and soul,
that heart be love aligned,
to feel blissful and whole,
erasing each dark fear.
Open the floodgates dear,
by childlike surrender,
that The Holy Spirit
love and light does render,
as tidings of good cheer.
Open the floodgates dear,
arms open in embrace,
oozing with compassion,
inviting divine grace,
to make our life course clear.
Open the floodgates dear,
abiding in stillness,
melding with the vast void,
entwined with That oneness,
till we see God appear.

And the dike would not hold the tears, ta-da.
So the ink, it runs down, my face, Papa!
And the clouds, oh they burst, with such mad force,
For the lightning does hail from Dad, of course!
It’s the future man feared would be so grim,
and the river does swerve and chases him.

can you open the floodgates
one coffee date
nothing ornate
why can't you relate
why do you skate
the subject of debate
I'm not cheapskate
I'll let you dictate
and narrate
stories of fate
I just want your plate
of poem's ruminate
and mysteries of predate
and of course of late
nothing more to agitate
or allocate
nothing to repudiate
i'll be cool and straight
i won't be late
I'll throw my weight
skip the prate
and the clown gait
i'll be calm and sedate
do not freight
or deflate
can you open ...
... the flood gates
