Ferociously Poems

Premium Membermy dogs are confined now

dog’s nose is twitching
whatever he’s smelling, I am missing
dog next door barks ferociously
my dogs used to run toward the fence
they have a pen now
there is less running
they have been thwarted
confined to a mere thousand square feet
angry because they used to run the entire neighborhood

Premium MemberI Am Life And Love

I live and love fearlessly.
I live and love fiercely.
I lived and loved falsely.
I lived and loved freely.

I am living and loving fulfillingly.
I am living and loving fantastically.
I am life and love firstly.
I am life and love forthrightly.

I live and love felicitously.
I live and love fastidiously.
I lived and loved ferociously.
I lived and loved fragmentally.

I am living and loving freeheartedly.
I am living and loving flirtatiously.
I am life and love figuratively.
I am life and love fundamentally.

The tragedy that is myself

Perhaps I wouldn't move
if the train came.
Not out of courage,
just curiosity.
What does it feel like?
or just the experience, maybe.

I sit down in the shower sometimes
until the water forgets it's warm
and I forget
I have skin.
In that moment,
and that moment only
I think nothing
but oh, I feel-

I feel everything
like a flood, swirling, raging inside,
beating ferociously on the locked doors.
On the surface?
an ingrained smile,
a shrug,
a practiced "whatever."

I'm not good at
being good.
Not when good means
loud, bright, easy.
Sometimes I scream
like my ribs are splitting,
but my voice, my throat-
remain stubbornly silent.

I wish one day,
you would knock,
and no one would answer-
No one would come to the door.
Because perhaps I'd have reached where I've always wanted to be,
or perhaps I'm just not there anymore.

Shadows

For Suzette’s: Light or Shadow contest

“when you are not fed love on a silver spoon, you learn to lick it off knives”
Lauren Eden – The Lioness Awakens

Shadows

the bear chases you around the pomegranate tree
your fear reaching extreme heights
you seize the suitable moment to escape
a fleeting flash of relief
only for the bear to corner you once more
the odour of its pelage hits your nostrils
its paws are ferociously slashing at your body
you are pinned helplessly waiting for the mortal blow
somehow, screams distract the bear
as if satisfied, it walks away, for now
you are scarred for life
you go about your life looking over your shoulder
each shadow is now a bear
each minute noise transmits fear
nobody can protect you from this nightmare
you terribly crave love and search for it everywhere
locking yourself away is simply futile
you must venture out
you owe it to yourself to take risks in life
or in love

Premium MemberDefinite Dinah does not Change Her Mind

Definite Dinah definitely doesn’t change her mind
Ferociously feeling firm in all ideas, she will find
Kids maneuver around her; she is not awfully kind
When she bargains and barters, it is legally bind

We saw Dinah debating where we usually dined
Warning the waiter she almost never will change her mind
He appreciates the heads up; said we were kind.
I notice his palm is unusually magically star-lined.
He is a find, says Dinah, he truly is one of a kind.

The journey

Clinging on determinedly
To the ferociously fast train
My palms burning in agony
Turning what I called home
A tiny speck in the distance
But 'home' is in ruins now
With bombs falling everywhere
Anywhere
Sirens wailing in my ears
Heartbreaking cries of newborn babies
Tear-jerking screams of loved ones
Being forced out of my home
The place I slept
The place I wept
The place I dreamed
The place I lived
The moonlight shines in the dark
Guiding my way
Yet I still question
Will I ever belong?

Premium MemberBattle of the sky

There was not a cloud that downcast darkened day, where the sky was ablaze with the deafening roar of the engines- each man in his entitlement, but no one a winner-with each man a guilty sinner; with them who preyed the eagles would be back after their fight-but the sky was billowing mass of smoke-blood-red was the ground-where dogs barked and children did shout at the harrowing sound of the battle of the sky-but there are some that ferociously and fiercely were given another go-and he wished not to cause worry or woe-for he had a hawk’s eye, swift in motion-for love is like the blink of the eye-but his bitter end was to be nigh, let us now be proud of all of them our heads we do bow.

Premium Membermy dogs charge the fence

My dogs charge the fence
Barking ferociously at the neighbor dog
Acting like he is a murderous intruder
Here to do serious damage to their pack

The neighbor dog lunges back
Enjoying the game, glad to be of service
I smile at their antics
If the fence disappeared they would be smelling butts

Premium MemberThe Bull and the Matador

The Bull and the Matador

Stalwartly, the bull gaits around
the confines of the arena ring;
snorting and displaying
piercing horns and muscle-bulk build.

For this he was bred and raised;
to be a champion of beasts,
and no matter where placed,
will claim as his domain and ferociously
defend until death, if necessary.

Then into the ring swaggeringly treads the matador
(flamboyantly dressed, touting a cape)
saluting the crowd, though calmly noticing
the bull, whose eyes appear red
from the blood gorging in its head.

“Estás loco!” scream the patrons packing the place.
(Thoroughly, enjoying every minute of this barbaric sport.)
“Ole! Ole!” They sing in unison in horrific overture,
encouraging the matador to kill the bull or vice versa.

Signs Of The Beast

Aside from transparency there's
nothing clearer than
words at their best
We're consumed by most of
what we see
& digest everything
religiously
The belly of the beast is
full of enmity
because of its emptiness
even though it feeds
ferociously
The atrocities we witness
at its behest are
nothing short of animalistic
which only feeds our
animosity
Oh the hypocrisy we endure
in order to secure
our place on the hamster
wheel
The rat race leaves us all
reeling in the end
& left wondering
if any of it was ever
real to begin with
Ironically this marathon
we call life
no matter how tiring
& treacherous
benefits us greatly
in the long run
It began before you'd
even begun
to consciously realize
where you were
or had come from
If nothing else take the
exercise & lessons
in stride
without running
from beasts
posing as sheep
Don't let the wool be
pulled over your eyes
as there's enough
blind being
led to the slaughter
We're all sons & daughters
of the most high so
hold onto your faith
even in faithless times
These faceless rhymes are
not only a sign of
the times but also
a message from him
to read the signs before
your eyes

The Poet

I will dream
I will create
I will love ferociously
I will waltz right into the open arms of my madness
I will live another life
entirely of my own design

Horn Had Taken a Hike to Find Father Farrell

Find Father Farrell and Terrell

when over barrel
while incredible church is imperil
find (call) Father Farrell (Terrell)

Parish which we cherish would scream
when scalded with steam so it did see
when either having been suspectable to sterile
or fond of finding a pleasant parishioner
who has happened to ferociously find
that his friend was feral
which we knew would be infuriating
while humiliatingly absurd we have heard

Interesting. Old
priest in Wichita, KS
was Father Bob Terrell.

Featherless Angels

Time twirls slowly,
when tragedy sunders
antiquated wings—
maimed and eroded, becoming
featherless angels,
ferociously combatant,
sparring to win,
wandering in vacant division,
while penetrating the walls
of our wildering downfalls.
Finding clemency in the
glimmer of our healing ambience,
realigning the quills of our love,
with every breath and pace across
idyllic esplanades, soaring above
catacombs of lawless perdition,
remedying grievances, while
reveling in the haven of
rhapsodic euphoria amidst
lingering plumes,
diffusing eternal tales of our
blissful hereafter.

Premium MemberHeard Wallpaper Peeling

I heard the wallpaper start peeling off the wall in the kitchen.
Garth my pet giraffe must be still be ferociously itch’n.
Penguin waddles up to give me his slanted report.
I ask about the chipmunks – Nancy, Herman and Mort.

They scurry up to show me the tattoos on their tails.
I say, “you can accompany me to dinner if all else fails.”
Not in that posh, stuck up fancy restaurant, Herman tells me.
I would rather be run over by a truck down by the sea.

Herman is pure drama, a stage actor in New York Training.
These pets are getting to be too much, I find them draining.
There is a sick llama who needs a home, Mort happily said.
I rolled my eyes, and laid back down, pretending to go to bed.
