Balm of time heals, hurts just enough

If balm of time heals, oft hurts just enough,
Heart heals because it exerts just enough.

Unfortunate for all destinations,
Journeys do end, linger thirsts just enough.

Many a love may die before its time,
Perhaps the love bird flirts not just enough.

If a marriage gets short of breath midway,
It seeks short cuts, skirts the right long enough.

Such a one flounders in march on the way,
For, pitfalls it averts not just enough.

fruit

fruit

we sway in the wind
but i grasp the air
in hopes it can sweep me from this branch
this branch-
preserving the purity of my skin-
is forced to let me fall

i rip from the loosening grip of my cluster
a wound on my side-
evidence of a new chance-
gifted by violent departure
i feel the air on my palms

i smash into the ground
mud covers my face.
i gaze up to the branch-
my past shimmers in the glaring sun.

a blue bird flies overhead
her beauty exerts itself effortlessly over my grime.
she parades her freedom
as the mud hardens under the kiln of the sun
i signal to the bird.

recognizing my flare, she glides to my side
and picks me apart
as i lay here-
opened up to this beast-
i listen to her speak

her tongue mumbles a foreign language
one that doesnt wish things away
a language learned from experiences
observed in her fulfilled juvenility

when all that is left
is the muddy skin on my back,
i sink into the earth
decaying for more time than i ever spent on a branch
why would i ever
excuse myself from youth to preserve my expiration?
i forfeit my experience then,
to gain a lonely breath here

Premium MemberFor Yet Another Moment -

For yet another moment -
   I joined him and endured
A brief conversation
And hints of a subtle nature.

I sometimes meet his eyes
   Contemplatively -
Where love often lies -
But don't know what it means.

He effortlessly -
   More than ever - exerts
A strong pull upon me
   And my evasive heart.

God speed His favor;
   Protect me from deceit
So I can know for sure
   That he's authentic.

the subtlest gesture
of rude behaviour
impacts us

it should not
but we cannot deny
that it does

it is therefore clear
ego as yet
exerts control over us

our stuporous awareness
is the reason
why we sink

we thank the universe
for the opportunity provided
to learn as we burn

Tranquil heart exerts a calming effect
on agitated minds in ego’s bind,
exuding an effervescence bliss flecked,
steering one and all toward pathways kind,
head and heart aligned, both divine entwined.
Fragrance of flowers is a mating call,
drawing butterflies to scents they recall,
as bliss delight that makes easy its flight,
savouring pollen borne by a love squall,
teleporting presence to zenith height.

("Eye of Newt", 2020, original encaustic)

All Things Fall Apart (aka Everything is Nothing)

All things fall apart
because all things
naturally self-destruct
as entropy exerts its shadowy force.

Order, or whatever we posit as non-chaos
is thus fleeting
held up by causes and conditions
that are themselves fleeting.

Thus the shadow of non-existence
permeates all form, all thought,
all notion of existence,
as its true nature.

All things fall apart
through self-destruction
because they never existed
in the first place.

What is this shadowy entropy?
A lack at the heart of existence
who’s existence can only be seen
in its fleeting forms.

And yet, forms arise continuously,
as merely labeled things
in ordered appearance
for our fleeting enjoyment and use.

The question then is,
“What is the creative force?”
Ah, the mystery of mind
vainly searching for itself.

Premium MemberMusing On a Muse

She swarms me like a dancing queen and leads me on,
Waltzing my wits, exerts and exhausts me by dawn.

Filled with frenetic vibrancy she overflows,
Then suddenly ducks in on me striking a pose.

She slips away the timid veil of the dark skies,
Stirring the best of me while coyly in disguise.

Her magic, in collaboration with my mind,
Enchantingly leaves a tangible trace behind.

I'd bow to wispy muse but cannot truly pin
What shapes my craft and sharpens my quill from within.

Premium MemberGrains In Need

Our digestive system is starting to hurt
We thoroughly deemed this void
As if we're crashing from a Pyramid in, revert
An urgent necessity that must be spoiled
The earth is shifting to sand in an islet desert
Land beheld through the lens of greed boiled.

Unless we dig ourselves out of dismal dirt
We are going to hurt the crashing avoid
Giving you a speck of buoyancy exerts
You should sow it since it's a seed poised

I request a grain and am granted a sight
I require a piece and am granted the right
When I ask for a roll, I get paper insight

When I seek exegesis, I am said of my gut delight
I will be attentive to the light
When I pray to the realm, the gates reveal the site.

"Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry."
— Mary Oliver

Sacred geometry and love's rhythm divine
exerts upon poets, a magnetic pull,
where once with music of our soul we align,
creative instincts rise like a raging bull,
yearning to express in words, what we do pine,
opening the floodgates, until heart feels full.
In time dissolved silence, poets pen their verse,
tuning in to whispers, of the universe.

God's plans for the soul requires us to create
emotes of gentle soul on a canvas blank,
conjuring cadence to which heart may gyrate,
that love in love with love may profusely thank
Him for inspirations that never abate;
thus upon God's boundless grace, all poets bank.
Poetry in motion, splash in the ocean,
creating as ordained, love's magic potion.

Optimal time progressed at the same rate as streamflow.
This puzzling exhibit remains an outline of life's sorrow.
A prized prospect exerts a massive effect on a sparkle blow.
An icy brook under his nimble feet grants him richly bestow.
The eternal darkness is enlightened as the truth might grow.
Livable cities burned to the ground seem like a subdued glow.
Lasting impressions are likely caused by vitality passing through.
An enchanted adventure along of the chasm row.

The Sea summons sailors, sending waves
lapping at curiosity's shores.
Offering a world with no locked doors;
She harbors treasures and salty graves.

And though oft as gentle as the breeze
rippling across Her watery face.
This lady of adventure and grace;
is known to be a fair-weather tease.

She is easily riled by the wind;
yet reflects the moon like a mirror.
And brings opportunities nearer;
upon which landlubber hopes are pinned.

She shifts colors from aquamarine
to turquoise, chartreuse, and indigo.
And is filled with wonderment and woe;
not hell or heaven, but in-between.

Many feel the allure of the Sea;
as She tugs upon their hearts and souls.
For from Her depths to shallowest shoals;
She exerts Her sensuality.
