Eligibility of Concern

In every generation
In every genre
People look to the
Absolute greatness
Of course those
In the circle of concern
Time to time
Tested to see
Who's best
Tested and essayed
To recognize prestige
and greatness
Sifting through the ages
In the now
Of
Tommorrow!

They sought fortune and fame
They danced in celebration
And cried in defeat
Hour after hour they labored
To be best in there feild of
excellence.
They toiled in sickness
and we're champions in
Health
they sought gold in
recognition of there
greatness
and we're right in there
they  time and in all
times because they
we're best!

my mind's eye

Flowing swathes swarm and wind
Bloom blush brilliant through my mind;
As expressions in outward flow
Stir sensations hid below;
Emotions made manifest arrayed,
displayed and essayed;
With poignant passion slashed
On my canvas unabashed.

Sesquipedality: Edward Capern At Boscobel House

... [into] the oaken box in which the hunted King was secreted....
	Capern essayed to descend...
	- Elihu Burritt, Walks in the Black Country (1868)

Suppose a poet-postman, full of good Victorian
Embonpoint, should chance to
Step into this house of hiding – a nook unknown to
Questing Roundhead spies – and think to slip
Unseen into the oubliette fitted out
In Cromwell’s days for a king; suppose this very
Poet – more portly in the midriff than Charles
Escaping from his throne – gets caught
Dead-center in the all-too-narrow trap-door gap.
Alas, for all his wriggling, he’s trapped
Longitudinally between floors. What can a poet,
Ill-versed in such historic lore, do but
Taunt the Muses with his long, many-syllabled
Yelps, unrhyming but in vivid metaphor?
