The Great British Entrepreneur Awards

I'm so incredibly proud and privileged ,
to be recognised by the #GBEA '25 team,
The fact that I've been shortlisted,
Is far beyond my wildest dream.

Single mum to three wild boys,
They're the apple of my eyes,
I'm the founder of Lotus Poetry,
A new and upcoming social enterprise.

I'm running on purpose and passion,
Lots of caffeine, kindness and care,
But I'm really struggling to find,
The funds to get me there.

Real life isn't like a fairytale,
This Cinderella is doing her best,
Working hard to find a way,
To attend with all the rest.

Where I get time for me,
It's not often that I do,
I hope I make it work,
So my dream can come true.

A night off from the boys,
So I can drink and dance,
An opportunity to meet you all,
Thanking you for this incredible chance.

The Entrepreneur

A recent share on a post, that is so relevant to poets writing in a world seeped in instant self gratification.

Title.

The Entrepreneur

(A lone voice whispers)

We do what we do, because we are old school

Inspired by the likes of visionaries such as, Michelangelo or, Vincent van Gogh

For in a modern world driven to seek immediate validation, and the trappings of success

We may be becoming a rare breed

For deep down, we know this unconditionally
Unconsciously

We are a work in progress

We who do the hard work constantly, through patience, and resilience

We know we will eventually see the journey has been worth it

As we are blessed

When the world eventually sees or embraces our portfolios

For that immense need driven by relentless consistency, patience, and resilience

Will eventually knock on a certain door to be opened by us

Marked

"For the brave
Who conquered the Lands of Broken Dreams filled with Regrets"

The rain flings itself
Against the chrome
Splatters and withdraws
To its prickly realm
Like the timid entrepreneur;
Who must slam stopped
Before the crowd
Whose audience rumbles on
Without notice
Who quickly gathers himself
And evaporates.

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur set from the desperate 1800 eager beaver
not yet the over achiever men working their craft
yet keeping women in the pass creating shoes,
clothing, watches holding dreams in their heads
as this world change as each new creation take place

Now our new day entrepreneurs still have the
same goals and drive some has gone over the
top from ages six to seven too far from heaven
yet too young to dream too much is planning
and saying

It's good to strive to dream to have goals or
where would we all be just imagine this world
without our goal oriented inventors our destine
over lookers our seekers

We must continue to create to strive to
keep all of our entrepreneur spirit alive

Entrepreneur Spirit

Entrepreneur Spirit,

I learn the game I learn smile I learn the pace most reward is passion,

Late hours early morning please of a tone a glory of a home,

Just to know what is your is your gratitude like cloud to a moon,

Words and gentles take aim like fat back to pan where all home,

Those days of stress that conflict like a comb to a threat,

Keep moving it through Keep moving to good news,

If subtle ageism and blatant ageism plague I have to keep one thing in,

Mind what is it I want out life,

I have to keep moving Entrepreneur Spirit,

It would be nice one day work for myself,

Entrepreneur Spirit.

Intrepid Entrepreneur

She liked being her own boss
It suited her personality very well
Coming in at your own hours,
occasionally taking a nap when you chose to
Surf the latest fashions,
scroll through the top trending news
Nothing like having your own business,
it's even better when it becomes a success

As an intrepid entrepreneur,
just another day in the life
She enjoyed making the fresh bread,
she enjoyed holding the butter knife

Spreading the wealth
gave her much satisfaction
Treating her employees good
was the ultimate euphoric lift
Shopping at the free market
is such a volatile affair
Things don't always go as they should
Bids accepted, bids denied;
some days she won the contract,
some days she was miffed
But making her own decisions everyday,
was like each day giving herself a gift

As an intrepid entrepreneur,
she enjoyed tasting the frosting,
she enjoyed cutting the cake
She enjoyed setting her own clock every daybreak

A tribute to my beloved sister Patrice

The Entrepreneur

He or she does things in a particular way,
Without regard for possible dismay,
Not that failure is not on their mind,
They just bounce back as they continue to grind,
Some things work, others bomb fast,
But, there's no time to revel or dwell on the past,
The pot of gold is always in sight,
Sometimes it's clear as day or well hidden at night,
The sole motivator is freedom, galore,
And the ability, without reason, to search and explore,
Because one thing is apparent, above all else,
They'll be damned if they make money for somebody else.

Entrepreneur At Heart

Hundreds of hours for a moments exposure,
When so many doubt you passion lifts helps composure,

Make sure shop looks fit,
nice and neat,
Bottles straight,
service cant be beat

Customers walk in
always greeted with JOY
Go the extra mile
No strings attached or extra ploys,

40 hour workweek?
Haha, that's for wimps,
Following a dream makes happiness,
That's a hard concept to grip

Financial stability,
At some point it hits,
The Pros always manage,
They tread along with the grit

Entrepreneur

How do you define it, Sir
What, I asked
Knowing I was better than a pronoun chaser
Entrepreneur, he replied
Everything to gain and nothing to lose, I said
That is the only man that takes risks
Defying laws and regulations
On the blind side
Breaking codes and rules
To pile up pockets full of pence
And then at the narrow pinnacle dares
To erect a fence
As if to hide the greedy evidence
Read carefully
For the first part is an observation
And the second part the hesitation
That separates all of us
I onced searched my pockets all day
To find in them only dust.
