Bloomin Eck,Bloomin Eck !
I just got mi-sen a job.
A mista wants his coal in,
An offed me a bob.

He told me if a hurry up,
A can chop some stiks an all.
But if tha wants another tanna,
A gorra mek um small.

He watched me gerrin coal in,
He anded me a shillin.
If tha wants that extra tanna lad,
Them bags o stiks want fillin.

A BOB and a shilling were the same value
Equivalent to 5 new pence(12 old penny's)
A tanner was 2 1/2 new pence(6 old penny's)

Premium MemberAn Addingham Man

I’ve roved the whole wide world
And splendid it's wildly wonders are too,
Decided to lay down my hat
Close to an Aussie wombat,
Yet drawn to you with a memory like glue.
Tis one’s age I think, being kind to myself
Now I am old afraid of being left on the shelf,
But the years, those memories from so long ago
Thankful they are deep within me when a need to glow.
Yes, I do believe no matter where on earth I scan
By 'eck, it was where I was born
that makes me an Addingham man.

Premium MemberHoliday Songs

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Or Hannukah, Quanza—It’s really your choice!
Live, love, laugh—be happy
I’ll be home for Christmastime to rejoice!
Deck the halls—Let’s be of good cheer
And all together we will wish
You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Santa Claus is coming to
Oslo, L.A. and London town
Now is the time to hang the holly
Glow! Shine! Laugh! Shout!
Silver bells joyfully chime “Let’s be jolly!”

Premium MemberSunflower

So radiant in yellow gold hue
Under a bright afternoon sunshine
Neck turning slowly to directly
Follow and kiss the sun;
Loveliest of flowers, a symbol
Of optimism and happiness
Welcoming all with such glee
Even on saturnine days. Ever so...
Resplendent...that's why I love thee!

Premium MemberThe Gathering of the Jackdaws

Twice a day, the jackdaws gather in their thousands, in that same old tree
It is as if they only gather for a good old group meet and a bit of repartee

Standing in the garden you see them flying in their groups from overhead
As in their thousands and all the late comers who have just got out of bed

The last ones in make me laugh, squawking as if to so say don't forget me
Then silence descends, just what is going on within there I just cannot see

It's as inside that tree the chief Jackdaws have a gathering of all the clans
Discussing all the local farmers, then talk about the rest of the day’s plans

Then no more than an hour you will get to see them all flying off in groups
Then it’s all over “till dusk when again they are all back in massive swoops

I really admire their kith and kinship; it's far greater than ours can ever be
But it never stops me wondering just what the ‘eck is going on in that tree

Albatross Around Your Neck

C-ommitting an evil act
A-gainst the Father Almighty
R-everses the Lord's blessing
I-nto a curse of misery.
S-tay away from sin,
S-o you'll be free of trouble;
A-lbatross around your neck will surely hurt your soul.

M-ake your life victorious
A-gainst any iniquity;
E-arly twenty-fourth of July, you will win over the enemy.

B-ad situation or problem
A-ims to beat the elect;
C-all on God to take away
A-lbatross around your
N-eck.

Premium MemberBath Time In the 40's

by Robert ( Bob) Moore © 2015

When I was a kid with a dirty neck
my mam would scream “wash it”, I’d run like ‘eck
grow spuds in your ears, she’d yell at me
I didn’t care, I couldn’t see

I’d go as long as I could, thinking nothing was wrong
Till somebody said, boy, you sure do pong
then out with the bathtub, hot water and soap
scrub till your raw, with a sponge felt like rope

Then off to bed, all clean and sleek
won’t need another, least not for a week
then it will start, all over again
Having a bath, it was such a pain

Insomniac's Lament

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I’m feverishly counting sheep …
Hoping that the perfect number
Rewards me with a dreamless slumber.

Envisioning the sylvan state,
I close my eyes and concentrate
On willing ev’ry fuzzy shape
To leap in order through the gate.

I trust they’ll form a proper queue
And, decorously stepping through
In ranks of three for my review,
Pass by my vision ewe by ewe.

But will they do this? Will they ‘eck!
They’re making me a nervous wreck!
They leap the hedge, and come back round
And thus my counting do confound.

And then they dance! I swear they do!
They link their arms and sashay through …
They buck-and-wing, and twist, and spin,
Each sheepish face a saucy grin …

And while these woolly matrons rumba …
I’ve clean forgot the flippin’ number!
So then I’m back to number one
And wishing I had ne’er begun!

Till, once more, frazzled and forlorn,
I’m wide awake to greet the dawn.

A Good Man

Some-times'
   The evolution
Of a man can'
Be extra ordinary
         -Or-
Eck out for the extreme
Since the beginning'
Of time,
Since the reenact
Is warranted of
Circumstance even
Thoughm
He may pay
         Omage to
