Eagled Poems

Sunburn

The sun's flames lick my back and burn the outer crust; warm my hidden bones.

I see the orange glow behind closed eyes, as the rays fall across my face and
dance up and down my body.

I want to lie naked, and spread eagled, so it can trickle between my legs and brown me inside and out.

The sun is my lover, his passions burn like fire.

To Autumn

All appear denuded
When you set in;
Forests, hills, rivers, winds and
The nymphs.

Even the angels look disrobed, and
Seem lying spread-eagled on barren clouds,
Sans their birthrights;
The luminous crowns.

On one of your bare branches,
My poetry perches, reminiscing
Spring days, in a mirage of
Dewy images cringed by summer heat, and
Under your pale sun
My Shakespearian forehead
Reflects thawing metaphors, in anticipation of
Winter verses, surprising the muse
With make-believe shivering, occasionally,
With no offence to your grey indifference.

Premium MemberSilently She Drowns

Drifting between love and hate
chained spread-eagled in a tug-of-war
of extreme emotions pulling relentlessly;
her body aches ... her mind bubbling,
a boiling cauldron pleading for release.
In her parched throat a stifled scream
soundlessly quivers, then retreats
into the dark chasm deep within
cowering in the chilly dungeon
where her heart lies slowly bleeding.
Torn to shreds her dreams hang
in front of her misty eyes, blurred...
she struggles between the choice
of fire and water, courage and defeat.

A key turns...the door slams...footsteps.

His loud voice calls; her body trembles
as yet again she reluctantly succumbs
to overpowering waves of helplessness...
Silently she drowns in fearful anticipation.

The Trees and I

I've lain beneath the trees as they wept
Spread-eagled on beds of wild sage
Surrounded by the brave soldiers
of fallen leaves turned crimson and gold
I've breathed in love on a sweet scented
summers day
And exhaled my soul in the sparkling frost
of winters halo, circling before my eyes
like fallen stars
I've felt my soul sinking
into the forest floor
The earth rushing over me,
swallowing me in its warmth
I've wept like the trees
In sorrow
and in joy
While the dying sun
carried me home

Night Moves

 UNSUPPORTED CODE NIGHT MOVES

wrapped in a shroud
pread-eagled man
lies… dreamless
in the unmade
grave of his bed
beams glare on his
mooning face
as his hands clench
on the nights long
throat

Gold Digger

half his age
and nearly twice his
height
pretty as a picture
but none too bright

he loves her open
arms (and legs) –
his “tart”
spread-eagled on his
sports-car’s bonnet

she likes him for
his open mind and
open heart
but most of all –
his open wallet

she intends to stick
with him through
thick and thicker
and is most
“concerned” about
his dodgy ticker

Totems

In fevered mornings, the salted sky
has halfway birthed her fiery sun.
All day the houses will guard the sea
with totems of windsocks and briny shells:
a foamy shoreline where bones of
dreams and shards of thoughts
are laid to rest, reclaiming the child
you were, spread-eagled, creature
to God, God to creature.

Juffair

The Wagtails gathered before sunset,
Dancing their olive steps
Around treetops,
And chatting like teenagers
At an auditorium.

The sky, dreaming
Of dusk at its sapphire edge
Played with the palm trees
That spread-eagled
Lazily In shadows,

Whilst I followed a
Sandy road
Towards the sea,
Amongst the swirling dust
Of a saffron breeze;

A silent contemplation
Over ruby red wine
And arterial bursts
Of magnificent memories.

The American Civil War

From Sumter to lee's
surrender,
The hostilities
between,
The fired shots,
The wasted lives.
Questions unsettled
from nation’s
Inception tried,
The issues such as
key
The slavery
question,
North and south
divided,
Over them contended.
For four years
'proximate,
The fallen and the
slain,
Lying spread-eagled
or prostrate,
After the smoke and
fire,
The invisible
element cleared.
One half to arms
deemed humane,
The second half by
profit blinded,
A profit from toil,
Off the backs of
them from
Across the sea,
They brought to the
land of the free,
When freedom was
deemed for
Only those up the
tree,
The morally-blind's
human tree.
The questions which
war forged,
The same did war not
settle outright!
How! Many men were
slain.
How! Many men fell.
And as blood grass
blades covered -
Dust grains stained,
So deeds the pages
of history
Marked,
And these indelible
marks
Have left upon the
sands of
Time.

The It Girl

the “it girl”

what it is that she
possesses
our eyes just can’t seem to
focus &
drawn to her by others chattering
by images plastered on the subway walls
the billboards, the plywood walkways &
spread-eagled all over the internet
like flies on ****
like flies on ****,
empty like a jar of peanut butter
been all licked out by one of those
tattooed emo-art clichés
who have cut their frenulum
so as to stretch out their tongues in photos &
to suck dicks all the way up the ladder of
success,
we’re still digging for some semblance of substance
but she’ll be gone so quick
like in an old time photo flash
that by the time the powder has been swept away
&
our eyes have adjusted back to the presence of light
we’ll be wondering where she went
as the next one gets slid into her place
with a new fragrance &
a pretty face.

Peaceful Consent Xci

You are the midwife of a land full of promises
The nation is spread-eagled on the delivery table
Letting out cries of painful expectation and labour
Prompting prayers and supplication for the new world

For three decades and for four you have been judged
To be the benchmark of qualification to serve the nation
In modern corporations and state wise civil works
In grapevine and apple-vine courts of principled bias

For four decades and for five you have been expected
To be the independent crop of people united in peace
To be the economic pioneer of elephant strides attending
To be the giant of Africa and democratic shepherd

For three tenures and for four you have been civilized
By democratic cultures and apples of good expectation
By judicial interventions and constitutional advocacy
By developing human rights and tricks of the new world

For three camps of orientation and for four indeed
You have been called up to serve the nation for good
Even when you have been doctored in foreign lands
Even though the ages tell the truth of the agents of peace

Solid Impression: I

(For Prof. Wolfgang Zach)

The kids beheld a bright face
Beaming like an emblem
Of the new photo-sky:
Subliming all our nativity
Sublimating our eagled rites.

His eyes were so sharp
Two fruits of nature!
Two seas of blossoming love:
Twinkling in a raw urgency
Of our black eagle.

The blond marched gently
Treading a retrieved soft soil
Of a celebrate earth
While his pious anthem thrusts
Through the heart of fading racism!

O his eyes pierced
The sour soul of unshy inhumanity
That ever-ready bird hatching agitations:
At which many lads arrowed at will
In those past seasons of no avail!

Millennium City 2000

The century has died like some aged love-starved whore,
Spread-eagled and oblivious, a burned-out paramour,
And passing with one ultimately orgiastic moan,
Screamed suddenly to silence, disappearing all alone.
Next day upon the dawning of the century to come,
The skies pissed on the pavements, raining ad-infinitum,
In the garbage of waste paper, cans and fading party hats
Seethes the celebratory wreckage of a zillion graveyard rats.
And the day crept on the city, limping bleak and grey and cold,
Disappointment hung hangovers on the streets not paved with gold;
Expectations of a miracle ripped up and blown to shreds,
Only disillusioned, dehydrated, empty aching heads.
In the malls and concrete arteries the winter spectres prowl,
Stray dogs with fractured ribcages raise up their jaws and howl
Some lament for what has died a death, a sob of loss and shame,
In realisation choked in finding everything the same.
Millennium City shuts its eyes, collapses back to bed,
A year of wasted budgets, all accounts lost in the red;
And the citizens, they fooled themselves with dreams that called collect,
To find the world has stayed the same, so what did you expect?
