Rowing downstream is one of life’s grandest pleasures
while upstream’s difficulty is quite hard to measure

You’ve got to dip those oars in right tight to the boat
        and if you're ahead

Flowing Downstream Without Levees Or Windbreaks

some poems ask to be naked
they have no use at all
for punctuation
not even for an en dash
an em dash nor hyphen

they play with a flowing grammar
that must be read like water
or paddled through on a leaky canoe

the poet can then hide behind
these unchained words
while demanding to be truly heard

while of course

Downstream Time Treads - Revised

Downstream Time treads tick-ticking;
He paddles upstream to the woodland,
To hermits’ “Evergreen” bookstore:
To observe, to feel, and to be with.

Hum dreamy murmuring streams,
Mystic tip-toeing spirits mutter him;
Sooth him sweeping, balmy breezes,
And peace plays in his swelling heart.

Nuts dive in honey on his leafy plate;
Pages flip through on his rocky bed,
Anoint owls

When You Fall Downstream

I

When the reverie has lost its shore,
when you can no longer search for more-
when the crowded room has lost its door,
is when I’ll link my soul to yours.
So, reach not without a connection-
I will show you what this life is for.

II

I will be your ground when you rise too high,
I will be

Premium MemberA Leaf's Journey Downstream

Flowing downstream, over the well washed stones
The water carries the newly fallen leaves
Beautifully corroded in colors of yellow, red, and brown
Belonging to the stream and to the earthen bliss
The remnants of the mighty tree’s glorious statement
Offering its only poignant ways of life’s given theories
Those of the Autumn desires to bring with it deliverance
That of being

Downstream

The water is cold,
I sit stiffly in the boat.
Again, I am lost.

The oars are secured.
Going downstream is a risk,
My eyes are open

I am quite a wreck,
Not knowing where to begin.
My eyes squeeze shut.

Where will I go now?
Lethergy lulls me to sleep,
I breathe in and out.

Surely, I must move?
The wind is silent and calm
I spin

Downstream

She locked the doors,
and left the place,
where laughter had faded,
like old worn lace.

Another sunset,
has caught her eye,
a change much needed,
from worn out lies.

Nothing she took,
on that freedom day,
she left it all,
between walls of decay.

Her season of change,
took quiet some time,
but soon she will hear,
pitiful whimpers, and whines.

Deaf now her ears,
but her eyes now see,
the beauty
