I posted another short story (pieces in this poetry section have to be brief).
I'm just a wordie-birdie, I suppose *shrug*
It's called "Old designs." About a dinner kicking off the 2022-23 university year.

Bless the deviled eggs and the preacher’s children.
Grab a piece of fried-to-perfection chicken.
Coca-cola cake or banana pudding?

TEH SKETCHES ACROSS THE NIGHT
WERE
STARS GLARE UPON THE FOLKS
THEY DANCE AND MAKE WORDS TO
THOSE THEY WISH WERE NEARER
THEY SING SONGS OF CONCERTED
WORDINGS
SONGS REHERSTED DAYS AND DAYS
THERE MUSIC IS LIVE BY
HORNS AND STRINGED INSTRUMENTS
DRUMS ARE PERCUSSIONED
ALONG WITH ELECTRIC BASS
THE AUDENCIES SMILE
AND CLAPPED TO THEY SINGERS
OF THE NIGHT
THAT TOMMORROW
SOME OF THESE MOMENTS
WILL BE ERASED
does the evil God Recuerda, have thee not to recall the words, and the steps that had been choreographed. Does he curse the evening to cause us not to be perfect: yet must we pray him away. Like gullible people who give meat offerings to the dirt god of the woods. Do we nail meat to the doors and pray ye to leave us that we might reach perfection. Might the woodwinds sing him to sleep, so that the drums startle him and he shall run scared like unprotected sheep running from the wolves. The needs of those who wish perfection, and the will of those who demand perfection, might these prayer have us as close to perfection as we need be.

My family is privileged to have Mystery Dinners almost every day.
A mystery tour is a tour where people enjoy a trip to an unknown destination. A mystery dinner is a dinner where people enjoy eating an unknown food.
Of course, I am the chef. My imagination, ideas, experience and economic sense are integrated into the meal, in addition to my irresponsibility and a whole lot of love, as I simultaneously cook and type at my translation job.
Don’t ask me for the names of the dishes, because they don’t have any.
My family bravely embark on the mystery dinner tours with an adventurous spirit.
Thrills and suspense are suitable words to describe these dinners. These dinners are also offered for our friends.
But I do consider nutritional balance...don’t worry.

Friday Night Dinners
Waiting in line
Table for five
Peanuts on floor
Country songs blaring
Crazy loud voices
Time to dine
Bottle of beer
Bread and butter
Petite filet rare
Loaded baked potato
Extra sour cream
Crisp Cesar salad
Ice cream sundae
Time to go
Kisses and hugs………
Life is good

The prime objective of school dinners
Must have been to make them taste as awful as possible
Too runny or to thick
Aesthetically disgusting
And the result was they make you gag and sick.
The screwed up faces in the dining hall
Said it all
But you were made to eat it by our ever watchful
Captures
And had no choice at all.
The mashed potatoes were like cement
And I'd never seen green carrots before
The sausages must have been made of sawdust
Picked up off the floor.
The gravy was always full of lumps
The tea cakes fill of flies
Every term they'd be a few less of us
And it was rumoured that they'd be poisoned and died.
Desert was no better
The trifle was like a bowl of sick
The cookies were so hard they'd break your teeth
And you had to chip away at them with a pick.
Tapioca pudding we called it frog spawn
Or jellied eyes
I once put some in a teachers brief case
And when he opened it he got a big surprise.
It was like some dark scene from the movie
Oliver But no one ever asked for more
They were to busy being sick
Behind the toilet door'
Still as the saying goes, ''School days are the best days of our lives''.
