EMMANUEL
revealed,forever a consolation
embodied today Jesus incarnation
He became what we are
so we could be His kin
He became what we are
so we could be what He is
God with us,here&now
high on life
the tippy top
a star
aglow
Dayspring
of everything
a candle
lit
timeless
and
perpetual
the earth

great worth
placed
in
a mother’s embrace
a babe
how dare
we
lick our fingers
and
extinguish
eyes so bright
as if
we alone
could
create a star
of
our own

arrival
Beginning & end
our comfort & friend
bringing day
out of night,
sweet from bitter
glory out of shame
turns a pebble
to a pearl
weakness into strength
brings
Grace to a face
of God with Us
Christmas sets the foundation,
For us to set in motion,
Actions that produce the right kind of chain reaction,
Giving us the only kind of notion,
That can light up the path to redemption,
Without the need for a pointless disruption,
Of a coming together celebration,
That is meant to set the tone for the next generation,
To participate in a user-friendly conversation,
That allows for a yearly injection,
Of joy that brings hope back into contention,
So, we can enter a new year in better condition.
CHRIST COMES FIRST IN CHRISTMAS
on earth, peace toward men of goodwill
when Christ comes first at Christmas
mercy upon those who revere God
if Christ comes first at Christmas
healing for the broken-hearted
as Christ comes first at Christmas
liberty to the captives
in Christ,if He comes first at Christmas
life,begins again
when Christ comes first at Christmas
Guilt gets nothing built,
Of sorrow there is no need to borrow,
Anger ill suits an angler,
Patience requires a degree of experience,
Kindness is a great antidote to loneliness,
Hope requires more than one rope,
Love always comes from above,
Wisdom only comes out of one kingdom.
There are things in life,
That we search for all our life,
But fail to find,
Or fail to recognize when we do find.
Kindness is high on the list,
And like others on the list,
If you search for it,
You will be lucky if you find it,
But if you have good insight,
You will recognize it when it comes into sight.
Unlikely Friendships,
Golden wedding Anniversaries,
Cold Turkey success stories,
Doctors who don't pull the plug,
Guns that misfire,
What some give up, to help others,
Sunshine on my shoulders,
Great Poetry.
God Loves us all the more,
When we put the pain of others before our own,
When we help others out of the forest,
into sunlit clearings.
When we notice less of what others say,
and more of what they do.
When our help has no strings attached.
When we celebrate Christmas more than once a year.
Still not sure what to get them this Christmas,
Don't panic,
There is still time,
To open your heart,
And think smart.
Despite the pandemic,
The Housing crisis,
And the breakdown in the supply chain,
This Christmas could be the perfect time,
To show them they are not alone,
In the twilight zone.
Now would be the perfect time,
To give your ego a rest,
And get off the merry-go-round,
To put your feet back on the ground.
You may feel the task is too hard,
And nothing you can afford will,
Ease the stress for them,
Or you,
But before you hold that thought,
Search your memory banks,
One last time,
And you may find,
Happy memories,
Though hard to wrap,
Will get you through,
And them too.
The joy this Christmas will come from
The celebration of being alive,
And avoiding strife.
The joy this Christmas will come from,
The written word,
Not the presents scored.
The joy this Christmas will come from,
From bullets dodged,
Not complaints lodged.
The joy this Christmas will come from,
Playing the role of a kind stranger,
And looking out for a neighbour.
The joy this Christmas will come,
From listening for the patter of little feet,
And not the police on the beat.
The joy this Christmas will come from,
Playing music that is sweet,
And paying compliments to all in a tweet.
The joy this Christmas will come,
From pardons granted,
And new friendships started.
Get a hobby and you will think it is Christmas most days,
Get a hobby and happiness will be with you to stay,
Get a hobby and you will see the world afresh each day,
Get a hobby and your life will never be boring.
Get a hobby if you want the conversation to flow,
Get a hobby if you are into sharing and caring.
Get a hobby and you will see beauty in small things,
Get a hobby and your hands will never be idle,
Get a hobby and make it easy for your friends and family,
To choose the right gift to put under the Christmas tree,
And ensure the house is free of humbugs.
SO THAT WE MIGHT TOUCH HIS HEM
heaven’s masterpiece
steps down from His throne
no fear of a baby born here
we identify with our own form
our Master gentle and kind
the Creator shows us the way
God’s perfect mediator
Himself incarnate
still we look up and see the stars
look down and see the orb
we stand on as it hovers in space
not easy to explain
His holy kiss
the washing of feet
the tears and hugs
the transfiguration—
the A-W-E of God
walking on water
the W-O-W of God
this newborn babe born in Bethlehem
will be called
Wonderful Counselor*
Mighty God
Everlasting Father
Prince of Peace
At His awesomeness we fall like dead men at His feet
As a starlit babe we view Him in a way we can understand
both Man and God, Deliverer and Judge
Christmas day upon us, may we hold His hem, kiss the Son
Let us stand, raise our hands in awe of Him, who commands

Isaiah 9:6-7 Old Testament prophecy
You Texas Cuspidata!
Not you, and not a curse:
Taxus cuspidata, for Japanese Yew!
So, don’t confuse a plant with the Ibex
Ilex serrata – that’s Christmas Holly
Or Japanese Winterberry
Butterflies, butternuts, a Buttinsky?
Shut your eyes, it’s Conocarpus erectus
(Pastor here is only saying "Buttonwood" in Latin)
Meanwhile in nature, the pines of Japan
Are dwarfed like bottled thunder:
Pinus thunbergiana
The Christmas Spirit is perennial in China (?)
Schinus terebinthifolius
(Again, Latin for another plant: Christmasberry)
Try to bonsai gladly;
A creeper in your home or villa;
Haha! Bourgainvillea glabra
My dad called this beauty, Pride of India!
Myrtle set me right, but India won at the end:
Laegerstroemia indica
Neighbors, boyhood buddies, international relations?
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry? No plant connection:
Just Hackberry named Celtis sinensis
