Fantasies glisten. Wealth untold.
Dimly clear; seen near and afar.
Wee men; chase around pots of gold.
Missed heaven. Prospecting a star.
She wishes; he’d only listen.
When lovers drift. They drift bizarre.
Act out; miscue the rendition.
Missed heaven. Prospecting a star.
He utters “turn the other cheek.”
Sneakers; lacing up the crossbar.
I pray he makes it through the weak.
Missed heaven. Prospecting a star.
Don’t let distractions go too far…
Missed heaven. Prospecting a star.

Nick was a young man who was handsome,
got stuck in a strange basement transom.
When trainer offered gold
to be free, his wife told-
“NO! THE VIEW'S WORTH MORE THAN THE RANSOM!"
*How I feel about my handsome hubby. I love all his views…*
Transom- A strengthening crossbar, in particular one set above above a door or hanging from the ceiling.

Failure is with us every day
telling us to go for it on fourth and one;
more and more that’s done;
we listen to failure smiling cynically
as he whispers temptations in our ears.
You’d recognize the guy,
You’ve seen him lingering near,
first cousin to Mayhem on TV,
there’s a strong family resemblance.
But forewarnings don’t enhance
self-protective good sense
for the lot of us hooked on football games
as we urge our favorites on
to one more squeeky win
as the clock runs down to zero zed.
It’s just the same with soccer fans.
C’mon man! What more do you need
to recognize Failure’s hold?
You saw the game: that field goal
that hit the pole and then bounced off
the crossbar inches short of a score
was Failure giving us, all of us, the finger.
So now you’re an Eagle fan?
Take heed, man, Failure will linger.
Can downed Eagles hibernate? Bears can!

ANGELS & LYRES
The sweet soft vibrations, heightens one’s desire
To find the location of the soft playing lyre
With Melodies of heaven, traveling throughout the sky
Precious angels listening, while perched up high
This beautiful sound, beginning with a tortoise shell
Echoing below, being heard even in hell
Greeks little harp, with strings of pride
Would continue its journey, traveling worldwide
From Greece to Africa on this crossbar with wood
Music for all, being heard and understood
So listen beautiful angels, to the sounds of this lyre
Gracing heaven with pleasure and setting hell on fire

The soccer ball thy shall kick to that place
where there is a net hung on the crossbar.
Thy shall play hard with my power and pace.
I take that free kick and score from afar.
Forwards and midfields need a lot of speed.
Without strength the body will take its toll.
There is one more thing these players will need.
The desire to shoot and score the goal!
The goalkeeper has to be very tall
to keep the ball out and to save the game.
He will need to get up fast if he falls.
The goalies job will always be the same.
As you can see soccer can be real tough.
To play you need to be quick or real buff.

It’s 5 am, we sneak out of the house
My brother and I, as quiet as a mouse
To his red bike, where I sit on the cross bar
Trusting my brother, we won’t go too far.
Put the worm on the hook, wrap it round well
Or it will wiggle off, and the fish it will tell
Watch the float as it bobs, and pull it in gent-ly
That how my brother taught fishing to me.
Always sneaking out, fishing in the dark
Racing on his red bike, we thought it a lark.
He made me dig up the worms, for the fishing bait
But I wouldn’t squeal, no, that was never my fate
Holding both fishing rods, I hung on real tight
He promised he would teach me to use it just right.
In the river we found we loved to fish best
Often paddling in water right up to our chest.
My brother, he stopped taking me fishing with him
I always caught the fish; he said it was a sin.
Then came the day girls were more interesting than fish
Our fishing days were over, it was never my wish.
So anyone with a rod that they will let me use
I’ll sit on your crossbar, or saddle if you choose
Teach me to fish and to cast it with skill
And I’ll get your worms up, I promise I will.
