Premium Member My Truths - POTD

Quote By Poet "What I have learned, peacemakers are everything."

My truths shall set me free,
to be the creative person I must be.
Always free to live the life God wants for me,
the life to show Him I do care for Him.
Truth can come in many sizes,
it is all about how we look at our life.
My truth about giving and receiving one's love is priceless,
some things in life one cannot put a price on.
Love in deeds and words are a must,
I will not give out pain.
For that is what this world so freely gives out,
my truth wants to live in peace and kindness daily.
Showing I care for the world,
my truth and Thee shall always be alive.

Unleashing the Magic Within

In the depths of my heart, a spark does reside,
A magical flame, filling me with joy inside.
I'm a creative person, full of wonder and delight,
Imagination takes flight, like a kite in the sky so bright.

With colors and shapes, I paint stories so grand,
Using my brushes and crayons, held tight in my hand.
I dance with my dreams, where anything can be,
A princess, a pirate, or even a buzzing bee.

In the world of make-believe, my spirit finds its home,
Where castles are built from pillows, and adventures freely roam.
I'm a creative soul, embracing the magic in every way,
For with my imagination, I create a brighter day.

The Real Me

I’m sitting at my keyboard
Just ranting and abusing
Which my long suffering wife
No longer finds amusing.
I’m both dyslexic and dyspraxic
Which is why I swear and curse
Because for a creative person that
Combination couldn’t be worse.

To make matters harder I Have
a keyboard that judy can’t spell
And predictive text just
Can Make my life hell.
I bought a dictation programme,
Money very badly spent.
It just can’t cope with
My East Yorkshire accent.

So if my rambling is at time
More than usually absurd
Full of errors and typos
And the odd little non word
Please be a little forgiving
For what you are getting to see,
With all those helpers switched off
The unaided uncorrected real me.

Premium Member Truly Creative

Any Truly Creative person strives for to seek
Their very own style; their very own technique.
When an artist's work in itself is so unique,
Their work won't need their signature to speak.

A Truly Creative person will leave their comfort zone,
Use the experience to freshen the style of their own.
Repetition of the same, as well as redundancy,
Is to a creative person each an arch enemy.

An artist works continually to build upon, improve,
Their very own style, within the artists' world groove.
Each work when finished brings temporary satisfaction
And then it's off to, again, some more creative action.

A Truly Creative person can't ever reach a place,
Where there's nothing more to create, an empty base.
There may well be times artists meet with a block,
But imagination and inspiration are the keys to unlock.

Truly Creative people express what inside they feel;
Don't create to seek favour nor for others' appeal.
Neither wrong nor right is a creative expression.
It is what it is in spite of an expert's impression.

Premium Member The Domino Effect - Selfish Selfie

Please do not touch

Just read the signs dotted around the gallery display
So you take a selfie ...
What harm can it do?

Your camera shutter
clicks
clicks
clicks
as you take selfish selfie pics

Teetering on your high heels
you topple backwards like a destructive domino

Your picture won’t ever be placed in a photograph frame
But hey
You achieved your fifteen seconds of fame

You took a selfie -
How selfish!

Inspired by newspaper article where a selfie goes wrong and causes around $200k damage to artwork by British artist Simon Birch

I've never considered myself an arty or creative person and I went out of my comfort zone to write this free verse poem.

The Word

Among my reflective insecurities and troubling visions
Came thoughts of making many foolish decisions
Memories of being too lazy to even improve my state
And stepping off of life’s carousel to just meditate
While all of this did nothing more than calm me
I soon retired as the man I always wanted to be,
A creative person whose writings influenced others
Ignoring my work hard and get ahead brothers
No more interest in the shark tank or the city bank
And for these reflections I have the word to thank
