It’s Just a Dream
It’s just a dream
I know it’s fake
I’ll be alone
When I awake
There is no one
To hold me tight
Or wake me up
At the edge of night
And when I rise
In this giant bed
The sheets go cold
And all is said
To those who see me
From hope’s warm nest
You’ll never know
From where I rest
It’s bright and airy
Yet sheds no light
And all I sense
Is my own plight
While you can see
My pain so clear
You’ll never know
How much I fear
Though hope may search
In all this shame
There is no trace
I have no name

A Beautiful Prison
A beautiful prison
Is an illusory place.
At first you reason
And then you pace.
It starts out sublime
To the restless soul
And, all in good time
You’re left with a hole.

Between Two Poles
Between two poles
The child takes flight.
Impelled by the sun
Ceased by the night.
Caught in a web
He did not spin.
The balance of life
Hangs on with a grin.

The Time Has Arrived
The time has arrived
There’s nowhere to hide.
Tossing and Turning
Must tame the yearning.
Feet planted firmly in midair
Facing the horizon with a stare.
Desperate to stay
Yet, wanting to run away.

The Light of Dusk
The light of dusk
Glows so slight
As the end of day
Turns to night
While greens get darker
And blues turn white
Silence foretells
The coming of night
Then shadows fade
And grass stands still
As rhythm of the day
Is reduced to nil
The trees stand in silence
Their branches held tight
And the crow calls out
This is the last flight
