A contradiction in terms
strange as it may seem
the strawberry is not a berry
tho' does go well with cream
and you may stop along the way
to smell them in the rose family
as botanically-speaking
it's a fruit actually
with seeds on the outside
suck it and see
pick one or two perhaps pluck a few
to make jam on scones for tea
Another day, another protest; who can count them all
This one in Vicenza, Italy, near a jewelry mall
Where Israeli exhibitors dared to show their faces
Trying to attract buyers in public, of all places…
Pro-Palestine marchers turned aggressive, then violent
But amazingly, Vicenza’s mayor did not remain silent
He stated that ‘It is a contradiction in terms to demonstrate
for a cease-fire and peace through means that are violent.’
I say, unequivocally, after weighing the evidence
We’ve discovered a mayor who exhibits common sense
I'd lost count of the times I'd said those words,
Thinking back; should they have been rationed?
Maybe kept only for those times of intimate closeness,
Were they the times for which they'd been fashioned?
Those moments where love left lust in the shadows,
Not where it just felt like the right thing to say.
Maybe nestled in moments of quiet contemplation,
There have been one or two of those today.
There was something I saw on a social media site,
Under the title, 'An Internet sage speaks his mind',
He’d quoted ‘less than lovers but more than friends’,
A sort of quasi philosophical blind.
In truth I would say, it’s a contradiction in terms,
Or even a get out of jail free pass
for those with commitment issues,
Or for some, because it sounds very middle class.
Born a thinker of thoughts, not a speaker of words,
To a life where he's deemed socially unable,
Would it have helped to be labelled 'damaged goods'
Left in a box, on the floor, under the table?
Practiced words make for perfect speeches,
Polished thoughts make a beautiful mind,
I once tried a combination of the two,
Computer said 'Access denied!'

A contradiction in terms
A rumble in waiting
To see the clouds before the fury hits,
is perhaps to understand true rage of heart.
Silver lingings that mask the truth.
An unpredictable force that at one moment releases destruction.
The next, bringing forth life giving nourishment.
Was it no wonder that Jah promised not to unleash this at Armageddon?
See how it ripples through the trees.
Bidding them to do its will.
May we humbly bow befor him on his day of fury.
Do not wipe away the tears
That fall upon my face
For they are gentle reminders
A different time, a different place
My heart is still bleeding
From the wound that was left behind
It seems as though
Peace I will never find
Love and pain, sadness and joy

So many emotions
You can live with, I have learned
You have to find the balance
Stabilize your life
For some days the sun will shine
Others will be filled with strife
Fill your heart with love
And for sorrow you can prepare
Letting you know that you are human
And even on the darkest of days
That you can still care

taking turns- faking
the best- guilty conscience
-hypersensitive-
flailing about- dirty
snout- no punishment
compares- beyond repair-
greeting good intentions-
wide eyes- stoic despair

A Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde
No stopping on this unstable ride
No one knows what he is really about
He wants closeness, but he is far away
He wants intimacy, but he won’t share his secrets
He will be naked
But, he won’t emotionally undress for his love
With a wife and child
He desires women and passion
He wants to remain reckless and wild
He has no sense of honor and responsibility
His thoughts are hidden
He cannot recall
The truth is gone, his mind a blank
He cannot pacify her raging mind
Self Preseverance is all he knows
He won’t trust anyone
His family comes second to his selfishness
He loves himself most of all
