Storms Comin

Storms coming,
saw the angry red sky.
Went out back on the decking
a hummingbird was
dodging around  but there was no feeder,
threw it away when she left.

Winds up, storms comin,
farm gates creaking and swinging
and that old oak cross-bar is real heavy
I made it that way.
Dogs rattled
the cat won't leave the damn kitchen

Steamboat Is A-Comin'

"Steamboat is a-comin' 'round the bend!"
My! Oh my! The wonders it might portend,
As it stopped by sleepy towns along the Missisip',
Dodgin' stumps and wayward rafts on its monthly New Awlins trip!

Its arrival was heralded by the town drunk who had nothin' else to do,
And the denizens who didn't flock to the wharf were very, very

Stagecoach Is A-Comin' To Old Santa Fe

"Hyar she comes!  The weekly stagecoach is a-comin' to old Santa Fe!"
The driver cracked his whip and blowed his klaxon to herald the way!

The weekly arrival of the stagecoach was cause fer raucous celebration!
The town's ne'er-do-wells found another excuse fer excess inebriation!

Storm's Comin

I can smell it in the air. Almost taste it
Before me lies a solid gray horizon
Dark clouds hastily trip across the sky
Orange streaks peek through rents in their fabric
Storms comin!!!

Anchored near the shore a restless dinghy
Rocks nervously in anticipation
Rolling thunder whispers in the distance
Flickers of lightning reveal it's presence
Storms comin!!!

The breeze stiffens escalating the scent

Fall's A-Comin'

Summer slowly slips away.
Days are gettin' cold.
But, Fall is really beautiful,
when  the leaves turn red and gold!

I love the feel of Autumns breeze,
so gentle on my face.
The sun- drenched warmth of balmy days,
just nothing can replace!

The seasonal winds grow stronger.
Dry leaves will fall and blow.
Folks will rake them all away
and wait for Winters snow!
