NATIVITY

Sung to the tune of "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem"

Our infant school nativity,
Directed by Mrs. Page,
Was my first opportunity
To act upon the stage.
I always was an extrovert;
So that appealed to me.
My hopes and dreams of all the years,
An actor I would be.

I wanted to play Joseph,
‘Cos Mary was played by Joyce.
And, of all the little girls in the class,
She was my first choice.
And if I couldn’t be Joseph
And ride along with her.
I’d be a king with golden crown
And frankincense or myrrh

I practised every morning,
And every evening.
Imagining the audience applause
For Joseph or a king.
But when it came to casting,
It didn’t come to pass.
The part that Mrs Page gave to me
Was the back half of the ass.

But one day I’ll be famous,
And then I’ll marry Joyce.
The latest toast of theatreland
And all will know my voice.
I’ll invite all my friends to attend,
As I take centre stage.
They’ll be there in the front row.
But I won’t ask Mrs Page.

Bethlehem

Where's that Bethlehem?
I toiled hard to find out that
It's right in my heart.

Premium MemberAnd Christ was Born

And Christ was born
A babe
In Bethlehem.

Just Joseph’s son, they said,
And Pharisees
In ruthlessness pursued
His ministry to blind and lame and outcast
In the troubled streets.
Christ’s greater claim
Invoked their blinded hate,
Resolved they were
To see no more
Than merely man
On whom to vent their scorn and spitefulness
To death.

No more than man?
Then useless
He would die on Roman cross
And men were lost
And babe become
No more than sentiment
Exploited
By the trendy economics
Of a stony world.

No more than man?
Is not the infant Christ of history
The ever-living God
Come down to earth
To give his life
For us
By death
On Calvary?

Brooklyn, NY Brownstone
Artificial Christmas Tree
Glitter in ornaments and décor
Christmas Cards were hung all through the house
The thought of living to Christmas among
All that happened when I was young
My Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in Silver would be circling the Christmas Tree
That was the Christmas for me
It was everything it was supposed to be
The Brownstone Christmas had detail with family and friends
There was no pretend
During those years, I didn’t want Christmas to end
Christmas being the center of the heart core
Sheer galore
Brooklyn, NY Christmas will always be remembered
Joy full of everlasting in my heart
Bethlehem Star has carried me far
Merry to experience and Joy to embrace.

Thy Birth

The world lay in deepest darkness
As black as a raven’s wing
Bereaved by the sadness of sin
Awaiting the One who would save it
And cause the world to sing

It happened one Bethlehem morn
The hope of all men global
That a star bore witness to the birth
Of the King of kings so regally
In a feeding trough less noble

O come ye let us him worship
And forfeit to him our all
For he is that pearl of greatest price
That is worth more than we surrender
To possess him at his call

Premium MemberMy Christmas Song

Light me a new candle,
  Put it before the manger,
It is a bit cold, love.
      Yet we’re in no danger.

There's Jesus, a small babe
  In a cold, wintry day
    Lying on some fresh straw.
      Kneel down and calmly pray.

Mary, Joseph calmly,
  Adore the king of kings
    Shepherds come with their lambs
      Angels fly with bright wings.

Christ in Bethlehem born.
  Choirs sing heavenly hymns.
Let us give Him His due
      Ask to forgive our sins.

Heading into Bethlehem ...
Three Wise Men,
In search of a stable.

Heading out of Bethlehem ...
Three Wise Turkeys,
While they were - still able.

Premium MemberLight That Lights All Lights

The Star which led the shepherds to
that miracle so long ago
is what they saw at last to view-
this light of lights unveils its glow.

For there, our Savior Christ was born
to gift that beam which sets us free
to live with grace- awake each morn;
within that light forever be.

And so that Star of Bethlehem
which guided shepherds with their sight
became the promise passed to them;
spread far His Light unveiled that night.

Christmas flowing through the air
Children’s hearts wait for Santa to appear
Reindeers ready
Rudolph holding steady
Christmas Trees stand tall and bright
Wiseman followed the North Star during the night
Bethlehem thought of the Nativity of the Little Babe sight
Joy to the world
Children sleeping and dream of Christmas anticipation
It’s Christmas Eve night
Santa’s yearly ride
All the gifts that he will provide
Winter winds
Christmas Day commerce
Friends and Family cheer
Christmas is finally here
The reason for the season
A Holy Birth
Peace and goodwill to all

Not Ready Yet

Give me just one more day of Christmas jubilee
Not ready to let go of Christmas, yet
Or stop gathering flecks of stardust
 Scattered from the Heavens
Still reveling in the sweet aroma of frankincense
 Or bovine straw
  Lingering on evening's breath
To walk by candles in the window
Enchanted by twinkling lights of welcome.

My heart pitches a tent
 On hillsides among olive trees
Craning it's neck to hear newborn angelic carols
And longs to cradle the pure cry of Love
 Again and again
Infinite Love I can hold and understand.

Stay one more night, sweet season of hope,
Beside me
Not letting the lights twinkling with wicks of joy,
  Festooning trees and doorways,
   Dim with memory
Or exchange red and green for blue and ice
 On starless nights.
Not ready to eat
The last crumbs of Christmas manna
Or leave the firesides of desert travelers
 Stargazing.

Just one more night precious holiday
And then you can slip away
To walk from Bethlehem to Jerusalem.

Premium MemberLights And Candles How They Spangle

Tinsel charm trees so bright how they shine on Christmas night
white snow falling gently calling, let us claim His light
forward into Christmas we are longing to ignite
as He gentles He potentials, He is power and might

Winter scenes and Noel gleams He is out of sight
this babe of love from up above has come to make it right
Beloved child of God Jul, riding on a mule they arrive tonight
that blessed family made of 3, such is our delight ...

Christ is born in Bethlehem touch his hem and heal thyself
yes he comes to save us all heed the call and share His wealth
lights and candles they do spangle as they roam with stealth
in a stable He is able, child of love and child of health,

Lights and candles how they spangle,
cling us to thy Holy Self...

Premium MemberThe Christmas Stsr

There arose a star in the east
A star brighter than the brightest
On Christmas morning the star stood
Over a lonely manger in Bethlehem

The star ?? of David with healings
In His wings is born on Christmas day
So it came to pass as has been foretold
By the Prophets of old

But only the men from the east saw the
Extra ordinary bright star
Acknowledging the birth of Jesus on Christmas
 day.

The Christmas star became the bright and morning
  star
It's shine taking down every darkness, piercing every
  darkness
On Christmas day a bright and morning star was born.
