Cackles, snickers, chortles and squeals ease life's weight.
Laughter can completely reset our composure.
Humors random salves of mirth can ease feeling states.
Past times of paled poise were health fueled by laughs ardor.

The air slowly fills
with curly pungent wafts of steam
billowing up from a
hot freshly brewed cup of coffee.
Raising the baton to
conduct the dawn chorus
of bird songs and plans
mulled to begin.
I love to see and feel
the ringlet tufts of steam
getting up my nose, blurring and
opening up my eyes,
like a curtain raise,
to conduct the symphony to begin.
The trills and tweets,
chirps and cheeps,
whistles and trills,
caws and chortles,
are all entwined and garnered
in the first sips, of the first cuppa,
taken at wake of day.
The steam and songs
unspool a cotton thread of
memories and reflections,
hopes and fears,
to be weft, warped,
shuffled and shuttled,
through the loom
to weave the coming day.

He zings through tall grasses and lands on my knee
I try my best to pull this sticky legged insect off me
He chortles and chuckles and pings off in the wind.
This hopper of grasses surely has annoyed and sinned.
Another one of these pests zings onto my shirt.
Giving me the willies, I scream at my cousin Bert
Get the lightening bug jar, let’s catch this foul creature
This grasshopper gives me a wink; he’s the double feature
Why are they so sticky? They are as tricky as glue.
And why, Bert, do these creepers never land on old you?
I guess I’m not as sweet, he says, with a wide smile.
Another one lands on me, says “Hi! Just call me Lyle!”

Rain, I adore, I impatiently wait for,
Like a wife awaits her husband from war.
Sloshing, splashing scintillating drops,
Soothing my skin with hopes
along with my smudged heart,
Rain, my first love, my sweetheart.
Laying on the gullible grass,
Staring at the sublime sky,
Thinking of life's dreams made of glass,
As the drops fall, lifting me to fly.
After the sky is clear,
Leaving the earthy smell
That to my heart is so dear.
Freesias, nasturtiums and bluebells.
The sun, masquerading behind creamy clouds,
Willows are not weeping, rain swept away their doubts.
Wisterias are waltzing with the wind,
Gardenias and Geraniums grinned.
What a joy it is to be a mortal!
Life, a mix of smiles, beauty and chortles.

Oh, your eyes so dry,
Longing for a long cry.
All those fake chortles,
Hollow habits of a mortal.
Someone asking, "How's your day?"
You liberally
Lying with "I'm okay."
Okay is not the word I'd use,
Though it's an excellent excuse
Hiding my aching bruise.
Rotting is what I'd use.
It's my soul's beloved ailment.
No, it's not a bruise,
It's just a mere statement.

MY FUTURE SELF
My future days are as a grey thickening mist
I refuse to countenance them and will resist
Life’s mill is slowing now with no more grist
I am told to live for today, whilst it may last
Nor breathe deep on the oxygen of the past
No longer who I was, I will be who I will be
I am, after all, just one of many mere mortals
Even fantasise about stepping through portals
Imagining an amused ferryman as he chortles
I cannot believe in any weird alternate future
With any link to permanence held by a suture
And tomorrow is a barred gate, don’t you see
Some seeking a different prospect to entertain
May, in their mind, hope they are not insane
But perhaps it’s just like a worm in their brain
Yet reality can offer only a very cold shoulder
That is pushed further back as one gets older
Past present and future, we will have all three

"A straight! Two-three, five-six and eight,"
but Mildred bleated, "Ain't no straight;
you, Alice-ewe, are one dumb rump."
Bright chortles burbled round the stump
till Jingles raised, "Two straws of hay,"
too rich for Fay-Fay: "I can't play,
though, know that ram hauled in by truck?
I thought he gave me … lotsa luck!"
Suzette guffawed, "Not luck you meant."
"Perv, pigsty's where your mind has went!"
"Well, we all know why he's brung here …"
"Too bad it's only once a year."
"Who poofed?" sneered Molly, "That's so crass!
Wow, someone dined on rancid grass …"
Embarrassed Mildred urged, "Just play,
let's brighten up this gloomy day."
Belle brooded, "Yeah, dawn brings the shears …"
"Well you look cute, nude tail to ears."
"And your sagged udder shows you're old!"
Tense silence fell--that barb was bold--
but Alice, heedless, claimed, "Two pair!"
which drew the wrath of Mildred's stare:
"Two fives, a two with ten on top?
You're one stupid mutton chop …"

East sea capricious invites frolickers
Lose all resolution fighting her euphoria
Entry to her anger ensures exit involuntary
Megalithic Pacific mounts with power superior
Eruptions, edge gumption propel folk
Nautilus chortles her lapis lazuli laughter
Thrill pulled paddlers contest for echo evoke
Suction eroding floor swept compulsively faster
Monstrous Nemo swims rhythm erratically
Elevates victims in lifted lemonade chamber
Elixir tips her fizz in eyes, ears unapologetically
Tumult assault sends sand spun fun to ocean chasers
Aussie beach, nothing beats it!

Pitching a leg across the nether
Of a pretty appaloosa or possibly
A chestnut bay who needs to know
That she’s being ridden by someone
Who will take her through the paces,
Strides both gentle and regulated
By a walk, a canter, a gallop, a sprint
Where she feels all her steps
Light, loose and limber as liquid love
That rains down from a heart who
Gives this mare the greatest rides
Through meadows, across hills
Into the kindness of life filled with
Delights, pleasures, sweetest bliss
Brought to life on the back end
Of a horse who listens to the kindness
Whispered through laughter, light
Chortles felt by the spirit who believes
“cowgirl up” brings plenty of dreams
To life on the back of a mount who needs
Only to be ridden without restriction
By a rider who knows the key to any heart
Is found at the end of a set of reins
Where equine love trots into command

Adorned in summer lights,
Vehicles honk away,
Like an ocean stirred by rain,
The bazzar begins to bustle again.
Familiar aromas fill the streets,
A rainbow of fruits proudly staged,
Lassi and chaat among the favourites,
The musty evening is such a delight.
A hoard of children cycling around,
Swarming near the food stalls,
Sooty air so full of life,
The sky finally turns off its lights.
Warriors marching abode,
Chortles seem distant,
The busy bazzar drifts away,
As transient as it's reminiscence...

Laughter soothes the soul
Giggling makes my day,
Chortles will improve
My mood, so they say,
Smiles are so groovy!
Silliness beams
Grin big, my friends
Chuckling at memes
Snickering trends
Guffawing
Gleefully
Mimicking
Joking

Blessed by the sunshine
Spring shining, brilliant
Whisper of grace, pouring
Gentle flames of delight
Raising my hopes for His
Wonders warming me
With inspiration and insight
Blessed by the rainfall
Sprinkling beads of faith
Across a heart who knows
His beauty is a living thing
Worthy of our praise, praying
That He will always make a way
To send down His revelations
Blessed by the songs of nature
Fading chortles of birds, so pleasant
Drifting on a meadow, melodies
Praising the One who made them
The Creator who I am so thankful
Gave me the voice and the yearning
To worship Him with all my heart
Blessed by the dreams I feel
Refreshing my soul with gentleness
A soothing touch to the spirit
Who sings with pure adoration
Of the One who lifts hearts, colors
Souls in wisdom and bliss, tenderness
That is part of His character, His gift
Blessed by the Son of God
The One who shines down His
Pure, sweet love – His miracles
On the kindness of a cross
Who reflects His love, His gentleness
The mild and calm restfulness
Found in the One who is love

All of the popular kids are invited to party
Laughter abounds as they get inebriated
Chortles and giggles, making less sense every hour
Outrageous behaviors run rampant, to prove they are drunk
He starts to get irritated with his wife’s barbed comments
Ornery now, he begins to “try and top her insults”
Less giggling now, as people begin to feel concerned
In a matter of minutes, there is a full blown shouting match
Shoving and slapping ensues, quieting the onlookers
Merriment dies a natural death; hurt feelings in the morning.
