I sense the scorching truth doth lap my toenails ~ or am I being tricked
satan asked his chiropodist ~ who hath nicked him bad but truly licked
By
David Kavanagh
Island girl now of Purley
at youth shielded from Rock N Roll
she remembers the Supremes
Kick start those autumn leaves
You're a pillar of an ancient profession
This is no ruse
just plain thoughtfulness
You've handled my feet with perfection
you've bandaged my shin
always to the best of your ability
Once I took a jellyfish
To visit a chiropodist
The doctor had a tinker with his toes
The doctor went around the bend
And all his hair stood up on end
And now he’s got a flashing orange nose
So never take a jellyfish
To visit a chiropodist
I for one won’t do that anymore
But if you take a jellyfish
To visit a chiropodist
Please be sure it’s not a Man ’o War
A session with my chiropodist
Is an occasion not to be missed.
We speak of recipes and cruise ships
And other folks' relationships
And pension plans and how to lose weight
And allergies and things we hate
And Christmas plans and hip replacements,
And politics and financial statements,
And things from childhood we remember,
Like scaredy cats on the fifth of November
And what it takes a woman to please
And whether "feet" run in families.
We talk of restaurants we have found
And matters equally profound.
Is vegetarian or vegan best
And how to handle a telephone pest ?
Am I a Remainer or for Brexit
And what to do to try and correct it ?
And what do we make of Donald Trump,
A breath of fresh air or just a chump ?
The whole world sorted in half an hour
If Debbie and I were given the power.
And when we've covered our highs and lows
We'll even talk about my toes!
