In the U S March is Women's History Month, and tomorrow, March 8, is International Women's Day. So, ladies everywhere, this piece is for you. Salud!

You are woman, so defined,
You are perfectly designed,
Every aspect of your being makes you who you are.
You meet the challenges you face
With intelligence and grace,
Because of you the human race has come so far.

You have measure, you have worth,
And your purpose here on Earth
Is to show the world war's not the only way.
You may question, you may doubt,
But you bring good things about,
And do it all without a rancorous display.

Man is creation at its worst,
Why you were not invented first
Is a mystery, unsolvable, it's true.
Though chauvinists may sneer and scoff,
We might be so much better off
If the running of the world were up to you.
We'll never understand God's plan,
So from one less-than-perfect man,
To all you women,
Thanks for all the things you do.

Submissive Assumptions

Revealing what may be
rhetorical perspective
Concealing vagueness of
others as a collective
Irrational is the truth
from all the official lies
Impractical to expose
those once thought so wise

Anonymously to be judged,
I then had to reflect
Inconspicuously to be ignored,
just show me respect
Dismissiveness from others
can be so undeserved
Submissive assumptions
repeatably observed

Deception experienced in
an inferiority disguise
Exceptions delusional
fundamentally they deny
Concerning yet I do
appropriately understand
Discerning discriminating
principles are at hand

Generated tremendous
excitement and in debate
Sedated by unparalleled
contributions dictate
Double standards and chauvinists,
there’s no doubt
Troubles considerable,
as they would openly flout

The Rise of Feminism

 THE RISE OF FEMINISM
Feminism once constricted within four walls,
turning women into mere puppet dolls.
Tossed around like footballs.
Those “mighty men” standing all tall,
rejoice watching a women's downfall
Today's women hang around in malls,
sharing their happiness and sorrow with pals.

Soon came a show time for women to shine,
those chauvinists viewed it as a crime.
Women opened their small stalls,
strengthening their future with a firewall,
protecting themselves from a man's maul.

While their lives were at stake,
they realized their mistake.
Being subjected to a man's judgment,
attained their path to achievement,
which was not a piece of cake.

Women took great leaps and bounds,
stopping men from bossing around.
Men and women found common grounds.
Both striving hard to earn a pound.

Inaugurating their enterprise with a ribbon,
empowered strong independent women.
Their success stories retelling their hardship.
Battles fought aside a man's dictatorship,
cherishing this era …,
THE WORLD OF WOMEN WORSHIP!!

Corporate Queen

Her voice was the final say
in the big department she ran
If you tried to usurp her authority,
better have your resignation in hand

She ran a tight ship,
she had a fiercely loyal crew
They were the best of the best
But she was better than them all times two

To rise to the top
of the corporate chain,
she used her wits effectively
Never getting involved
in sordid office politics,
she relied on her skills and integrity

Corporate queen
Corporate queen
She let the male chauvinists
feel the sting
Corporate queen
Corporate queen
She silences all the haters,
sends 'em job seeking

Being the boss of things,
it ain't always pretty
Being the queen bee sure can exact a toll
But she always felt she could navigate around,
pay that heavy cost to wear
her hard earned royal crown

A tribute to my beloved sister Kenyetta

Premium Member Saudi Kings

Pigs with wings
Woman with no rights

Allah strikes
behead the servants

Who pray tell imprisons children?
King Abdullah, King of chauvinists

If a King sings his command
Women are dirt less than sand

The kingdom dances
Princesses dream and scream

Of days, where freedom rains
Washing away Saudi perversions

When you visit a Saudi king
I ask you, really, do not bow

Slap the old goat in the face
If dead spit on grave

The Other

Her love may cause strife

At times she remains as faithful as a pious wife

Without her you will find no spice in life

Yet she is famous to be a double edged knife

A mother she is

The care-giver and a fountain of bliss

Religions praise her declaring that paradise lies under her feet

To protect her progeny always ready to fight and defeat

Her beauty has empowered creativity

A poet's imagination becomes fertile with her entity

Sad though she had to fight for ages for equality

Some religions entitle her as being the doorway to prosperity

Wearing her veil she hides her sorrow

Her being is considered by some male-chauvinists as hollow

She was as if created to act as a shadow

Her stories prick and hurt like a poisonous arrow

Condemned to her duty she has accepted imprisonment

A daughter, a sister, a wife and a mother lie in that assortment

Consider her not to be the other

She is your partner...
