Upright and Not Inscrutable
By Franklin Price

Upright and not inscrutable
Always Constitutional
Never running for an office just for me
Looking out for my constituents
In your best interests are my intents
However else would you think that I could be

Always standing for you here I am
For you my finger's in the dam
Making sure that it will never ever burst
Certifying that the laws we make
Will never your found freedom take
My responsibility is always to you first

Do I detect a hint of doubt
That some of you have found me out
Think that I am egotistically involved
That I will follow party first
Although for you could be the worst
Re-election is my goal I am resolved

I now seek a higher post
So you may raise your glass and toast
That I could be the highest in the land
Find I cannot get there at all
This you may find will bring a pall
Without the rich and things that they demand

Should not be me that you despise
For getting wool pulled o'er your eyes
It's the nature of the modern politic
If I could get there another way
Would still have your back first today
That the rich control us really makes me sick

Deadly intelligent life form
At the bottom of the sea
I am from planet confused
What did I do
with my glasses
I can not see them ha
Everything a joke

Ha ha blind as a bat
My big eyes
are not great
My name is octopus
You are under my control

look at the arms
Look at the arms
I am certifying myself mad
in the head
Look at the arms
I am lost with
so many arms hanging down
Confused dot. com.

I would need to be
they are driving me crazy
Keeping so many arms busy
My brain can not cope
with all the stress
I will just have to use
two arms a time
Easier to control
will ignore the rest for now

Just keep one eye on them
To much for my brain
to handle
I think I am going cross eyed
Sending me blind
moving about
look at the arms
Look at the arms

Medusa of the deep
Minus the body
Cold and lonely down here
In a tizzy watching
My mind can not sleep

Look at the arms
Theirs no arm in me really

Certifying Old Age

How do you know if you’ve reached old age?
There are several different signs.
I’m gonna tell you just a few
The ones that cross my mind.

I’ll do the very best I can
And hope I can recall.
But don’t expect too many,
I may remember none at all!

Oh wait! Some just came to me
Right out of the blue
One is real poor vision-
Near deafness is number two.

When you gather with your buddies
Your discussions ain’t the same
No talk of sports and music
Or movies you can name.

It’s more results of MRI’s
Or Cat Scans and the such
What medicines you’re takin’
How often and how much.

How many Doctors are you seeing?
What do they have to say?
Are you needing special treatment?
Is your insurance gonna pay?

With the answers togeather with aches and pains
You should be able to gauge
and come to one conclusion
By God you've reached OLD AGE!
