Cash
It’s king
Makes tills ring
But here’s the thing
What we call a till
I suspect, always will
According to my sister
(which, in slang is skin and blister)
In the U.S. is a register
But when tills (or registers) are ringing
Which explains why shopkeepers are singing
I watch, nonchalantly debating
It’s what I do while I’m waiting
How many words mean ‘money’
Well, pony and monkey
May be quite funky
But dough and bread
In my head
Still mean
Cash

The good times will end
Extravagance, for fools
Frugality rules
A penny saved
A penny earned
A dollar wasted
Independence spurned...
Inflation, deflation
Whatever the situation
Cash is King
Credit ~ bling
Buy and sell
Cast odd spell
Goods now churn
A kind turn
Lots to please
In fine ease
Tease and toss
Bear with loss
Earn your keep
Smile and weep
Deep dream daze
Craft fine craze
Odds and ends
Bleed your blend
Gain not vain
Stake most plain
Quest for more
Fill your stores
On the way
Live fine play
Cash is king

Money oft comes between the best of friends.
It is known to dissolve the strongest bond,
corrupting you to the grave and beyond.
When it comes to dividing dividends,
a trust, built on a long-time friendship, ends:
and animosity and lies are spawned.
There's no denying jealousy and greed:
for we all acknowledge that cash is king;
and thus is valued above everything.
And if you owe cash, it's useless to plead,
for like Shylock's pound of flesh: once agreed:
repayment is an imperative thing.
If you want more proof of this ugly truth,
merely look around; it doesn't take a sleuth.
