Cash Is King
Money can come between the best of friends.
It is known to dissolve the strongest bond,
and corrupt you to the grave and beyond.
When it comes to dividing dividends,
a trust, built on a longtime friendship, ends:
and animosity and lies get spawned.
There's no denying jealousy and greed:
for we all acknowledge that cash is king;
and thus is valued above everything.
And if you owe, it is useless to plead,
for like Shylock's pound of flesh, once agreed:
repayment is an imperative thing.
If you want more proof of this ugly truth:
merely, look around; it doesn't take a sleuth.
