enhanced refreshment
bubbles at the surface burst
carbonation fizz
the fluid’s magic
virtue is revealed at last
bubbles of hidden gas
spontaneously
perform a brief dance in glass
like droplets through air
they don’t forever
come from the depths of your drink
once then vanish
a mystery to be traced
a delight you cannot taste

Feeling Blessed & Highly Favored

Some days, I imagine myself an island,
Set in a sea of distress.
Or a soda that's lost it's fizz,
Lacking carbonation to make me bubble.
The most instinctive reaction to adversity,
Is to whine, plead, and affix blame.
I frequently remind myself, that God,
Doesn't allow trials in my life without purpose.
It's when I don't allow HIM to work through my situation,
That Satan, uses his tool of discouragement,
To stymie my witness.
Forgive me Lord when I whine,
Please forgive me when I whine.

We're wired to want everything instantly -- even God's response to prayer!
Tom
She likes the taste of tears in her diet coke
on the sweetest day of defeat
They slide down her cheeks and into
her open can as she sips
Tasting her pain as if it was the first time
knowing it wont be the last
The carbonation almost hides the salty
treat but she knows theyre there
She likes the taste of tears in her diet coke
on the loneliest day of her life
As they slide down her cheeks and into
her open can as she sips
Tasting the loneliness as if it was the first time
knowing it wont be the last
The sugar almost hides the salty
treat but she knows theyre there
She likes the taste of tears in her diet coke
just like a masochist likes pain
And those beautiful smiles she fakes
hides those salty treats
that find theyre way in to her diet coke
Alcohol, just isn't for me.
Carbonation and I, don't agree.
So what do you think,
is my favorite drink?
The answer my friend, is Iced Tea!
Diet Coke, icy cold, has fame.
Spiked with cherry or lime, it’s tame,
I buy the brand Shasta
because my drink hasta
use Splenda, not bad aspartame.

(I know there is nothing healthful about
a Coke, but I just love carbonation!)
For Francine Roberts'
Pick a Beverage, any Beverage Poetry Contest
I am a soda addict
Of this I can attest
I must give up the soda
I have to do my best
The carbonation kills me
Yet still I drink it down
I wake up in the morning
To not so friendly sounds
I now drink so much water
I’m ready to explode
I’m always in the bathroom
Relieving from the load
They say the water helps with
The brittleness of bones
But all it really helps with
Is passing of some stones
Though, I am feeling better
As water is so healthy
My bladder is now filled
Giving me much buoyancy
Coke or Pepsi, 7-up
Pour that Sunkist in a cup
Pop a can and drink it up
So Brilliant a beverage creation
Fresca, Fanta Crush, or Sprite
Caffeine free or up all night
Each bubble burst with pure delight
What wonderful innovation
Dr. Pepper,Mountain Dew
Mug root beer, the finest brew
I'd thank the chap, but I don't know who
Invented carbonation
Therein he lives, in amber seas,
in suds and carbonation, curled
in silent hibernation, waiting
an evil, patient wait, for lips
and gullet set him free.
Unleashed, his promise activates,
in stealthy infiltration spreads
his bleak indoctrination, stalking
an evil, patient stalk, in veins
and nerves inebriate.
Surprise, surprise, it's me again,
with morbid fascination, violence
breeding desolation, beating
an evil, patient beat with demon
fists that feast on pain.
Herein she lies, as bruises swell,
tears bled in desperation, crying
for some sweet salvation, praying
a ragged, haggard prayer for
deliverance from his hell.
Inside she knows, has realised
that this black incarceration is
a brutalised vocation, knowing
as how he may never be
glass demon exorcised.
