Canary Islands Poems | Examples

Premium MemberFuerteventura the Majorera Island

This is such a special lovely island
having spent a wonderful seven days
there in the month of March full of sun
enjoying its sunshine with its warm rays

Spending such peace and tranquility
having mild winds so humid in its climate
the beaches make it a windsurfers paradise
with just 8 days rain yearly, sun on your plate

This island looks barren in many parts
where the goats graze on the open plains
but its beaches are so beautifully long
giving one lovely view to make a start

Its name comes from the Spanish wording
"Fuert" means strong, "Ventura" means winds
the delicacy of its Majorero cheese
bringing many visitors to say taste, please

This island wasn't found till the 15th Century
but it exceeded all native expectations
Caleta de Fuste, where we stayed, is a super resort
sun sand and even seals make it a sensation

(Having spent a wonderful week on the island of Fuerteventura, one of the group of islands that makes the Canary Islands which sits 100 kms off the North African coast, it was a week of wonderful sunshine, great views, and lovely food. So this is a little piece written to show poetically what a lovely island it truly is.)

Canary Birds Are a Feature of Canary Islands

Canary birds are a feature of Canary Islands,
But in the Canary Islands, their is not so easy to found.
On the Virgin Islands are problems of similar kinds,
One can barely see any canaries flying around!

Naomi
Smart, pretty, annoying, secretivebranches

Wishes to go to the Canary Islands
Dreams of finding a Megalodon tooth
Wants to go cage diving
Who wonders if she build an underwater city
Who fears of being stung by a bee
Who likes blue
Who loves peacocks and nudibranches
Who wants a tree house and a pet shark
Who resides in NC

Sonnet On the Sun

One orb and only one shines on in life
You are much warmer than the morning sun
Remember the volcanoes at Tenerife
Canary Islands paradise adrift in fun

Hanging there upon a limb of golden time
We conjure elements of joy forever
What favors in the mind recall unwinds
When in our orbits moon pulls down its lever

But there within the walls of love light sealed
The glow of life can’t hide inside forever
There in the wicked world concealed, revealed
That Winter breaks for kinder weather

My love with sun and moon gathered family
Their fortunes shine on together amicably
