A Consuming Weather

Clouds in a Walmart mirror.
The galvanized roof is
eclectically painted and rattling
its shifting shadows.

Some mutter,
hurry to the unmanned checkouts,
some seek a deeper shelter in the
sporting goods aisle's
The distant sounds of fire engines
and sirens,
a howling chorus of trepidation.

Outside in the midday gloom
parking-lot geese
are forming escape lines.
Squirrels gawp and chatter,
hit the ground running.

Another shoplifting tornado
has come to town,
pushing empty carts ahead
of its imminent funnel of fear.
A store greeter
grins like death,
as the gatecrashing wind
steals his breath.

The aftermath has yet to be counted,
though bargain priced Chinese calculators
are readily on sale everywhere.

Generals measure the cost of war in human lives
Soldiers toast its value in the cheapest of dives ...

Their stomachs in knots all night and day
Mothers find war's price too steep to pay

Anothingwholeordyword

don't worry i'm fine
this trance takes a minute
I’m not at all confused
after imagining whispers
among the bushes in my garden
all calm if an imaginary specter
pass and see my sleepy eyes
through his melancholy view
like in my ‘83 drug time
when the sound leaked from the speakers
dousing the room of that beautiful girl
who is dead today
I really decide to ditch calculators
and other real stuff
turn my back on everything
that doesn't bring me enough
emotion and passion and fiction
that I need
to survive myself

School Days

School day memories,
Were Maths and literacy,
Did compound interest, you see,
Before decimal currency,
Had no calculators,
Used our brains, good for later!

I agree with sacred teachers
who advocate I best not feel resonantly privileged
while meditating
to take part in something special
like sacred mysteries
of sabbath revolutions.

And yet,
I only half agree.

This secularizing paradigm
would promote democratic accessibility
and convenient evolution of educational systems,
transport and marketing of organic integrity
and win/win compassionate systems
to left-brain dominant calculators
extractors
deducers
labelers
reducers
either/or thinkers
without co-developed sacred feelings.

My other half
remains prime zero-rooted
in EarthMother's primal health/wealth relationship
through non-violent communion,

Peaceful reign of eco-feminist EarthJustice
sacredly felt
and secular thought through
deep EarthTribe nutritional
well-lit
warm
empowering
regenerate bilateral intelligence.

Reaper and Binder

Reaper and Binder

Our thumbs do the talking nowadays,
The cyberspace filled with thoughts, expressions of different elements of the 21st century 's creativity.
I am talking inventions, engagements, arguments, rhythmic pigmentations and Lots of of infectious reflections.

From Blackberrys to Huaweis, to Samsungs, Sonys and many more digital diaries, Libralies, mirrors, alarms, calculators.... basically reliable android buddies,
What happened to the Easter Bunny?

Yes the Abyss excites thee but this rebinding is blinding the chapters of touch, culture, tradition, religion and simply the old skool human connection... so Lost in our pocket pals letting thumbs doing the talking forgetting how important eye contact is, we need it to avoid the rebuffing of a new reality....

System of Stars

Stars turn out in unknown numbers vast
Blanketed in a field of smokey mist
Who will count them but the children
Rolling across the greenery of hills
Falling off the cliff from infancy
Into infinity at the cost of babies ages

There is only one direction, up
Which is not too far from heaven
If you find it please inform us
We got lost between the covers of the night
When the compass brakes we still continue
Our lives become so low we rise
To carry out assignments in the sky

Stars show up to shower us with reason
Our accountants count on them at night
Calculators crunch the endless numbers
Grind to a stop when the lights go out

Fate's Footfalls

Way back when I was still in school
I saw the most ingenious tool
They called the thing a sliding rule
A smart man rose out of a fool

It could multiply and divide
Hung on a belt there by your side
I wore a grin I could not hide
Why I'd be famous far and wide

That was when I made me a plan
In no time I'd be a rich man
I'd go back to mesquite and sand
And sell sliderules much as I can

Bought me a thousand, got 'em cheap
Took 'em out there where sand is deep
Planned to sell 'em to earn my keep
They said,"Man, have you been asleep?"

Calculators were in their jeans
A gadget that I'd never seen
Where were they when I was a teen
Fate's footfalls had treated me mean

Maybe I'll hold 'em as antiques
Someday the tears will leave my cheeks
Someday the tears will stop their leaks
But for the sliderule no one speaks

Sixty Plus Verses Teenager

Can remember when being a teenager
so free and easy could see no danger,
but things you do seems a lot stranger
mobile phones, computers, life's arrangers,

must have been boring without technology
no google to find information like psychology ,
Without knowledge you don't have theology,
unable to understand everyday terminology,

we had books, libraries, calculators, brains,
no games consoles or any other brain drains
exploring nature without technological chains,
with social media, no community remains,

we can communicate with each other quicker
face book, whatsApp, email and twitter,
with iPads, desk tops, no need for baby sitter,
life's better now so don't be so bitter,

being sixty plus I'm still learning new skills
enjoying life supported with prescription pills,

being a teenager our world is full of thrills
easy access to all that's bad like illegal pills.

Great Departure

Are you ready?
will made and signed
debts paid and closed
charity to poor done
broken promises fulfilled
family investments done

Are you ready?
have you repented?
Are family, friends prepared
are you set for the great departure
Do you know it is without warning?

Accountants are ready
auditors have calculators
choir ready with welcome hymn
supervisors ready with report
receptionists at the door

Are you ready for the big departure?
check again, reflect on your life

Words Without Meaning

Words without meaning are the ones unsaid
Dangling conversations wrapped in silence
Uncomfortable quiet sets in at sea

Unknown causes stay between the spaces where you are
Between the lines of reason far from the shore
No cause for alarm as you pause to speak
The ship was meant to sink in ugly weather

Hang on to every word of confidence
Let go when you arrange your thoughts
Below the waves
Significance is an afterthought
That's important

There are no calculators made for feeling
They can not sense mortality or love
Or discern that which can be surmised
There was kindness in her eyes
Once upon a time when she went down

Before the ship rises in waves of memory
Takes her with the storm, once again no more
Don't be concerned
Sinking to new depths
Remember to consign oblivion to the past
Unforgiving words, there to forget
Words without meaning remain unsaid

Examinations

it was the most freakiest silence today at school.
it was so quite in a way that the silence echoed back and forth in classes.
I could hear my heart beat so loud from that thick flesh of mine.
At that moment I knew that it was examinations.

From that moment I knew that I had to aim for a distinction.
I could hear a lot of breathes in class,
most of them filled with panic and fear,
At that moment I knew that it was examinations.

I could hear the hands of the clock going 'tick tock',
from the wrist watches that my classmates wore, everyone had to manage their time
At that moment I new it was examinations.

the silence was so disturbing,
even a deaf person could hear a pin drop.
so quiet that you could hear the wind's warm greetings.
OH! it was examination.

every one playing different notes with their calculators producing no answer at all,
I knew that it was Mathematics playing with those little brains.
AND at that moment I knew that it was examinations

Le Vacance Pretentieuse: Tipping

Gracious smiles, a waiter waiting.
The service: quite nice actually.
The drinks cool and food sating
My average appetite factually;

Who knew they had coca cola here
In the middle of the desert... odd
Isn’t it? I ordered water and beer
And here arrives our saviour, god

And leader, dressed in a brown
Shirt despite the pre-mentioned
Heat. He never wears a frown,
Even at rush hour not tensioned.

7.30 comes and goes, morning
Or night, we arrive, are seated
And eat. The waiter is fawning
But nice, the food is all treated

And we eat it all up, fulfilled by
A fountain of beverages he will
Provide. Full, we give a goodbye,
And place tips away from the till

So the manager cannot see, risky
Business. But how to divide the
Cost? Calculators grant only frisky
Fractions, I only had a mint tea!
