ELASTIC ECSTASY OF SUMMER

And then sun proves
its mettle. Its warm rays hit
neighborhoods, forests and all
 at enlarged angle of impingement.
Brightness and heat return
to maximize uplift of moods.

Energy is injected into lives
that had been lethargic.
They expose their busts and limps
and walk, skip, run and
swim in celebration of life.
Jamborees on grass and floors!

Backpackers arrive at toes
of cliffs, and some are crazy
enough to trust springy ropes
to swing in bungy jumps.
Inhibition decay in the summer
as heat warms and over burns at times.

some runners overstretch
and collapse in a heap with
exhaustion promoted by heat.
The sun darkens some folks
to decrease color differences
on display on the beaches.

Nature chimes in with winds
and grumbling as thunder.
occasionally, it relieves the
heat with showers and rain
that falls in torrents.
It sends hailstones to curb excesses.

it is summer time above
the equation, and migratory
birds and folks with cash
from the other half will also
come to join the regionals
here to shout and jerk in play.

The Greenhouse - a True Story

I have a little greenhouse
It sits wobbly on the hill
Constructed from a kitset
Requiring monumental skill

A 40 page instruction book
Said it was a simple task to do
But I was not convinced
That this was entirely true

A fragile aluminium frame
Held with 500 fiddly screws
Was a testing of my patience
To see how many I would lose

The polycarbonate sheets
Fragile and light as fine chiffon
Flew off in the slightest breeze
Before I could attach them on

'Two hours of construction'
Is all the time you need, they say
But let me tell you, that's a lie
Because it took three days

Then in the first nor'easter storm
It collapsed, negating all my labours
The walls were in the paddocks
And the door was at the neighbours

Now it's badly taped together
And held down with bungy cord
So far so good, fingers crossed
We get some vege as a reward!

Premium MemberThe Work Social Committee

So I joined the " social committee"
because they said it would be lots of fun.
But after barely an hour
all I wanted to do was run.

I suggested Friday night poker.
they said "we'll play bingo" instead.
I said "how about group bungy jumping".
They said I was sick in the head.

So I started to yawn and to fidget,
my patience had run out the door.
I held up my hand to ask about wine.
They said I no longer had the floor.

Apparently I am not social.
There are bartenders who would disagree.
I haven't given up on my ideas.
I'll win them over, you'll see.

Margarita Mondays will soon be here,
Tequila Tuesdays as well,
'cause if the committee doesn't like my ideas
they can all go straight to hell.

Sandy Blight

Sandy Blight

D’Lise he was about ole Dirran town,
Back in the early forties,
When Sandy Blight could make you frown,
Interfere with your naughties, …….bad-sex?
When running eyes came shortly,
Yer Eyes were plastered tight..

Fine sandy dust as red as rust,
It blew, came in from Cobar,
The sky was red,
 as yer eyeballs Fred,
from June until October.

People came in their wagonettes, no lie,
To get away from Cobar,
With mattery eyes, like the bite of flies,
Yes bungy eyes all over.

Old D’Lise saw these sore eyes,
And hatched himself a cure,
Sure it wasn’t from the bloody flies,
Bottled piddle could be a doer.

A spit in the eye could cure the flys,
If you suffered the blow-fly bite,
Slapped em down with an axe you clown,
An they’d buzz on outa sight.
Ainaseed in the piddle bottle,
Was the sweetest disguise, delight,
Bit a yellow belly color, .............Aussie fish
 What looked like Snotty-gobble,
Cured too bloody right …

Dingo Dog Trappers used Ainaseed for their decoys,
To kll the smell of man, when setting their Dog traps for Dingoes.

Snotty-Gobble Bliss-bombs are the yellow fruit on a tree Miseltoe, sweet fruit of the Aussie bush.

My Friends

My friends
Will have ice cream with you in the middle of winter.
Will tell you if you have toilet papper dragging on your shoes
Will tell you if your skirt is tucked in your pantyhose.
Will bake cookies with you.
Will share there lunch money.
Will walk to the corner store with you in the freezeing cold.
Will go bungy jumping with you.
Will tell jokes with you and laugh till your ribs hurt.
I thank my friend for being there for me.

Not Enough Life Insurance

My life is technically half over
Wouldn't do any good to complain
So here's a list of things I want to try
Before I go insane...

Skydive
Bungy Jump
Go on a Safari
Wake Board
Rock Climb
Drive a race car
Swim with the dolphins
Camp in the Grand Canyon
Do 360's in a jet

There's nothing wrong with dreaming
I'd probably pee my pants
I can handle that part
I just can't find good insurance!
