Premium Member Breath of Sweet Season

back door breeze.
  relief from sophistry.
    sounds of ink
      dipping into darkness.
        I see moonbows,
         or I’d like to; believe
           in wings of brightness,
            breath of sweet season.
             quicksand takes my breath.
               soothing tunes of velvet
                 like romantic violins
reel me in; I need briskness -
a cold blast. I need leaves
                       to relieve my melancholia.
                         don’t refuse me the hues
of Autumn, a drift of falling.

Premium Member The Breath of Life

Breathe...breathe with all your might

Inhale the soft breeze of life's essence

Love...love with all your might

Regale o'er wide seas of love's presence

Hate...hate blinds love's insight

In Hell, a disease of life's essence

Fate...fate binds love's insight

Regret won't appease its presence

Premium Member The Notice Change

We were once rivers,
braiding through each other’s lives,
carving valleys of shared wonder.

Now we float in bubbles,
soft-walled sanctuaries of sameness,
drifting past one another
with eyes turned inward.

The more we seal our edges,
the less we feel the ripple,
of another’s breath.

Premium Member One Today

A day may be yesterday,
a day may be tomorrow,
fragments of the past,
and whispers of the future.

But!

Today is not yesterday,
And today is never tomorrow.
Today is the present,
to be lived,
one breath,
One heartbeat,
one moment at a time.

There may be many yesterdays,
and tomorrows are never promised.
But for each daily journey,
you are given only,
one today.

You And I

In blue water I'm going down
swept away by the tide all sense left behind
in dark waters I might drown
caught in the current out of my mind
holding my breath and hoping
my love for you will stand the test of time
out of my depth and hanging on
for the day you say you are mine
in over my head how long can I tread
these waters for you
don't know what to do
what's to be done
I'm between the devil and...
deep waters still run

When the World Held Its Breath

When the world seem to hold its breath
Water starts to collect at the bottom lid of eye
Out of nowhere; lips trembled to speak in dark
Hands danced trying to express the inner words
In sight of no audience a spirit howled in me
Asking whether we deserved it or not
Manifesting no difference in past and present
Seeking a hand to ensure there is good in future.

Premium Member Dog Chases Tail

Dog chases his tail round and round,
was he spell bound?
He looks very funny,
like a wound up dog bunny.
Did you ever feel like this crazy dog?
Are you living in a fog?
Maybe you are asking where am I going?
Is life unknowing?
Could we be chasing our own tail?
Take a deep breath and have a cold ginger ale.

Quiet Triumph

In broken silence,
a single breath rises--
flickers of hope through the cracks,
light spills where shadows clench
vigor birthed from the stillness,
victory whispered softly.

Dawn’s breath lifts pink blooms,
petals cruise to tranquil seas—
hope hums in the breeze.

LIFE MISERY

Trouble created by
People
Solve by
People
Diseases created by
People
Cured by
People
Then they become boastful.

Know what
You're made for
So; you don't
Settle for
What you're prey to or for.

Every breath is a blessing
Every air lesson
As you inhale and exhale
You realize the value of breath
If you don't know
What you were made for
You'll settle and die for
What they want from you.

Premium Member Trapped Breath

Written: August 07, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Mark Toney

          ***********

Corset of steel tightens—ratified pain,
Vestigial breath trapped in ischemia thrall.
The ductile hope failed to placate
This Pyrrhic ache, this woebegone gall.

A sojourn in the squalor of soul,
Where sylphlike dreams maunder, downcast.
Ogle the embers of the miraculous nexus—
A seraphic visage lost, quickly.

Vivacious once, now virile with woe,
Panacea tastes of pabulum, slipshod, and cold.
Tinkling memories coruscate as zeugma—
Bright, yet untoward, they never hold.

Quixotic penchant for connection,
Grasping too late the nebula beneath.
What puissance is this—this throe, this tumult—
When tulle-wrapped love meets a gyre of grief?

Ululation beneath pavonine skies,
Adumbrate every glance, every sigh.
Crimson weave keeps a skirt in place,
Valuable, stained, adorned, and slain.

MISSING HER LIKE BREATH

She's steadily
Keeping me busy
Even when I'm idle
She's always on my mind
Because I miss her like breath
She's an idol
She's always racing in my mind.

My mind is flooded
With thoughts of her
I think I'm addicted to her
A moment without her
It's the moment of hell
She's my heaven, the one I lean on.

I've been lost
In her way
Without no trace
Just to see her face
None can take her place
For she's irreplaceable
She never complains but maintain
What she does or gives, I can't explain.
