there's is no other
my brother
noone to turn too
but you
you have seen me thur
you help me think
now i don't stink
you are my
LINK
You don't know me. Acting like you do in everything you think you see. Yeah I'm black. But
nothing about that is whack! I see you thinking yeah another under acheiver. But you don't
know me. So why judge me as another ghetto fella. Yeah I know where I live and I know
where I have been. What gives you the right to tell me I could never win. It took a lot to be
where I am now. Thats why I can take a bow. Not every black guy is a gangbanger or a thug.
Drinking forty's out of a mug. Here is my P H D. Better yet guess? You better ask somebody.
I am a ghetto boy with no ware to go, so I talk to the lord to keep my flow.
The answer came that would make me a man.
He said the graveyard would be calling my name, but you want fame;
so here i go. Make the wrong move and the door will close.
I said lord I can't help myself, unemployment on the rise and i don't have many
friends; cause i begin to wonder is there spies with in.
All i want to do is to get out of this rut, without hanging with the fellas
selling dope at the cut.
I don't want no mess so i carry a peice in case some fool want some of me.
Hitting the switch in the car so my girl can get in, I keep her with me
to keep me from committing a sin. I am a ghetto boy, but i'm out to win.
All these things mean something to me.
It is not what you would see in a hustlers magazine.
A stash of dope in the trunk and thee dogs at the cut,
dressing in hood gear and waring bullets proof vests.
Is death the promise for doing my best.
I am a ghetto boy with no ware to go, so i talk to the lord to keep my flow.
THE END
She got magic in her eyes
They took me by surprise
And I had to realize
She was not wearing a disguise
As I begin to look deep
Those eyes made me want to sleep
Instead I began to weep
Because those eyes were very sweet
Through it all I had to know
And I expected her to tell me so
About those eyes that had a glow
As she sit down putting on a show
At that moment I became wise
And finally I had to improvise
To let all know I'll tell no lies
Because she got magic in her eyes.
He is all I need
To make it in life today
Keeping me out of danger
And out of harms way
He fills me with His spirit
And covers me with His love
While watching over me
Down from Heaven above
Guides me by His Mercy
Keeps me in His Grace
Each and every day
While I run this race
No longer do I worry
For His call I'll forever heed
Because there is no doubt
That He is all i need.
I'm a special gift from God
He made me long ago
And put in me His spirit
Telling me what I need to know
The eyes that He gave me
Makes me able to see
All His wonderful creation
And the way He wanted it to be
From the ears that I have
I am able to hear
The sound from the things
He made far and near
Oh yes my precious hands
Within them I can touch
And feel those wonderful things
Too me that mean so much
Now the nose He bless me with
I can surely smell
Many, many fragrances
With an aroma that's so well
Finally there's my mouth
With a taste that touches my heart
And sense this Black History Day
I'm a special gift from God.
The happiest day of my life
Was when Jesus entered my heart
And made His home their
From the very start
Bringing fulfillment to my life
Is what He did for me
Causing me too love
As everyone could see
Yes He saved me
And turned my life around
Putting me on a course
The best that could be found
I'm so thankful to the Lord
For paying the ultimate price
and giving me another chance
Which was the happiest day of my life.

> Thomas Swist, Jr,
I'm not another statistic
I'm someone who is optimistic
But, still realistic
And literarily artistic
Don't wanna be another statistic
Another stupid black youth
On trial being sworn in to telling the truth
Another quote, unquote "black"
On the corner selling weed, crack, smack
You see them fools?
Thinking they're a star 'cause they make the evening news
They want me to be anotha
'Cause if I don't I'm not considered a " brother"
They want me to be another
To either buy the drug, make it, or sell
A poison, that should send them all to hell
But that won't be me
Droppin out of school to later study for a GED
But that will be me later
Graduating highschool, then college, and getting my degree
I don't understand why they want me to be them
Nothing good ever comes to them
Except for the easy tax free bread
But in the end they all end up, shot up, locked up, or dead
So why should that be me?
Do you know me?
Because if you did, you'd know that will never be me
You call me this you call me that
I'm weak I'm nothing as a matter of fact
I look past you and walk the other way
You can't take my pride away
You can't bring me down because I will always stick around
I'm strong you see stronger then you would ever think
You say you know me, well who am I?
Am I a fly on the wall or just passing by
I'll tell you this and you can go
I am somebody, somebody you should know
Mama told me to keep my head high
And grandma told me i can do anything if i put my mind to it
Well today my Head was in the sky
And i know that i went through it
The past
And carrying on to the future
A speech i heard
That would always be
An inspirational one
"I had a Dream"
I came this far
With words that Keep
The inside of me alive
And not asleep
Today i see
What my role models mean
When you do what you must
Always squeeze in that pinch of love
No matter how far your dream takes you
Love is everywhere
Love is there when it is heard from the one who cares
Because of who I am
I'm forced to fight
twice as hard as any man
Because of my mistakes
the good within me you fail to see
you claim my light to be darkness
You cut off my wings
in hopes to watch injured prey be eaten
hoping that there is no escape
Curse my name
in hopes my spirit won't soar
so my voice becomes silent
Despite all
you wish to see me covered in dirt
it will never happen
until you're proven wrong
Small Town Profiling
friends and me tonight,
stopped for walking with dark skin,
they know what's coming;
tell me not to show outrage,
eclipse of the sun will pass.
07/13/10
9:23pm
it spits out the thinnest of dead creation
paining the one with its deadly stinging kiss
cry out, no not me
for i am but a colored crazy slave
with the letter of P. for poor
and the letter of B. for the unbelieved
but i must bear it
just like so many who have before me
they don't tell
because who would believe
You look at me like an outcast
Mark me because the color of my skin
Persecuted me without fear or judgment
I am a shadow of your own perception.
Equality has no witness
And your arrogance hurts me more
I have to passed your rooted standard
Although; my presence causes you bitterness
I beg you to walk with me
And search my quest and odyssey in time
And maybe you will find yourself
In my dwelling house of pain
In my path you will find
Many dictators with hurtful heart
That had caused pain and fear
In many innocent life
Come and crawl underneath my skin
And tell me, How you feel!
Are you surprise? Cause we are the same
And yet not unified
